Also note that the chorus part was sung by Vortex when he was in the band. I don't have anything against a chorus, but it doesn't even compare to how beautifully haunting Vortex's voice was.
I just went back and listened to it with Vortex ... his voice is primal and amazing but I feel the chorus really adds a deep element of eeriness without reverb whereas Vortex used some voice distortion to achieve the same effect. That being said, I NEED more Vortex... any suggestions of songs he is amazing in (aside from carnival)

Dimmu Borgir brought Black Metal to a next level with this - AWESOME 🤘🤘🤘 it's about time they come out with new masterpieces, when i'm looking and listen to this, they made a step backwards 💪

Enthrone is the true masterpiece.
I don't care what anyone says... Dimmu can hire the greatest choir in the world and all of them singing at once still would never compare to ICS Vortex's voice when it came to singing the clean vocals in Dimmu songs... ever since Vortex, Mustis and Barker left the band Dimmu have never been the same and even their live performances have never been that good either without Vortex, Mustis and Barker.

Thank you for doing one of their best songs. Most people do Gateways, and it's terrible. Also try to listen to some album version songs from Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Spiritual Black Dimensions, or this album, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. That's when Dimmu was at their prime with Mustis and Vortex.
2004 is better live and much different, well you might think different, starts at 9:08, plus you get the full half hour show
@@gamingforfun9000 Yes! Dimmu went downhill after Puritanical. Death Cult Armageddon has some decent tracks on it, but disappointing over all.
Make sure you check out Stormblast as well, the original I mean. Stormblast 2005 is good too, but doesn't beat the original.
@@vipersb1 I know early meta so no need to explain haha. i wouldn't say downhill, i guess its a subjective perspective, i just think they took different direction, that's what art is in many ways about evolving and not staying the same. Of course which era is better is all up to individual taste.

Yes Shagrath is very much human, he is father to his children and very sympathic clever person.
Vortex can easily out sing this choir by himself, but that is not to say that they are bad at what they do.
