- This is what a trench raid would have been like in the First World War. I believe these are British and Canadian soldiers attacking the Germans. This is a clip from War Horse (Movie).

Oh man it must have been terrifying to be in a enemy trench by yourself
Jack Wang I pissed myself
Jack Wang I'd freak out.
Guy: "Ok General we have too many men that we can't arm them what do we do?"
General: "Send all of them to the enemy line!"
Guy: "But will that work?"
General: "Yes."
A few days later
General: "Shit!"
that sounds more like Rusia
Andre Temperatura what the movie forgot to include was the 8 days of shelling on the German lines and the preparation that went into the battle down to the squad level.
@@dustypluskrat7423 shut up stop telling him his opinion and I swear to God if you say anything to me my opinion will smack you across the no man's land
Shaqueta Vessie ?
lions led by donkeys
should've took the hint that they were wearing GAS MASKS
indeed.....
LOL!
Shix Lo wait the German soldiers were alive?
that was my first thought lol
Ok sorry for the late reply but , the German riflemen were still alive because why else would they be wearing gasmasks? Along with this , why the bloody hell isn't there any common sense in War Horse ( great film and book by the way ) the soldiers ( German ones ) were wearing gasmasks and as far as I know , the British did not fire any gas shells at the German before the trench raid , even if they did , they would've told their infantry to put on their gas mask on so that they will minimize casualties (although they were going to take casualties from friendly artillery......those n00bs ) . In more detail , the Germans were waiting for the British ( although not in actual history as far as I remember) so they would launch a decisive and catastrophic defeat for the British causing momentum and rout along the front ranks. If you think about it , it was just common sense they were missing. Also in the Somme , MK I landships were used so this was a little historically inaccurate.
Trench warfare in WW1 has to be one of the worst environments in the history of war!
Okinawa.
Ryan where the fuk did you get your info from
He's got a point. Although Okinawa lacked the titanic struggle of millions, it surpassed World War One in shear savagery. The Pacific War was right there with the Middle Ages, not even the Eastern Front compares. It has always pissed me off to hear "experts" say that America's war wasn't that bad compared with the Russians on the Eastern Front. The Pacific was unimaginably brutal unless you were there. Just reading first had accounts prove that.
I thought he was gonna accidentally shoot him when I first saw this
One of my favorite war movies, even if it's lacking a little in historical accuracy. It really captures just how brutal the "war to end all wars" really was, in my opinion.
It was a horrible war and I wish I could go back in time to stop them going to No Mans Land
I thought those guys in the trench were playing dead
Jared Porter did you know that each side would shoot dead bodies to make sure that they were dead in fact they shot them in the head
Since when did they knew that?
Jared Porter they were hint the gas masks
Jared Porter that's a good idea, tbh
Jared Porter 1:28 I see the Western front
We watched this movie in school and we had to take notes but no one actually did everyone was just watching the movie
This no trench raid this a offencive by the somme
Shifty's History trench raids normally took place at night,no helmets ,water bottles etc to minimise noise, balaclavas on on blacked out faces. The object was to capture some prisoners. And most surprised sentries went willingly.End of their war.
Thank you all for 160,000 views! I did not expect this many when I uploaded this!

Frank Castle just one guy hiding in a corner for 2 minutes so the entire war stops
But everyone uses bolt actions instead of sub machine guns and light/medium machine guns and shotguns too

War Horse was set in WW1
Yes, yes it was. That's why I said WWI in the title.
I believe that I recognized on uniforms (before the charge scene) insignia of the BLACK WATCH (Scottish Regiment).
Romilos Fronimides that would make sense considering they sound Scottish in the film
Romilos Fronimides I thought that was Irish ? These lads are English tho
