i will say, ive visted la a couple times and its not too terrible to visit if you have specific places you want to go and people to see. like i went to the peterson car museum, really cool seeing their whole collection they have tucked away underground. i also rented a sports car and drove up into the mountains above la up to wilson observatory. great roads, mostly empty, awesome driving experience.

Outside of LA and SF, it's nice (but expensive). Pasadena is one of the nicest cities I've lived in, but my god, the housing prices are horrific (houses less than a mile from my apartment range between $4 to $10 million).
San Diego county is also much nicer than the other two metropolitan regions, imo.

Crazy how many of the world's wealthiest and most intelligent people congregate there. CA is not only extremely important to the economy of the US, its also important to the US's continued technological superiority. Always fun to see people from the flyover states complain about it though.
"California is clearly inferior to my poor, backwards state despite the trillions it generates for the federal government being the only reason my state can afford to maintain its highway system! Yes I know my state has way more homicides and opiod addiction but but but california has *homeless people*!!!"

Seriously though, I didn't know Airi was this based. I've also heard that northern California is alright, and would probably be a nice place to live if it wasn't under the rule of the major cities in Southern California.

Honestly I wish place like New York and California were decent places to live, if that was the case I would not be seeing a ton of people fleeing those states among others and resettling in my state which in turn is driving housing prices through the roof, not to mention congesting our transportation infrastructure to no end.
Granted I understand why they are leaving I wouldn't want to live in those places either, but at the same time the influx is getting out of hand and we just do not have the infrastructure to support such a rapid and numerous influx, it has gotten to the point where some of the original residents are starting to leave the more populated centers and going further afield into more rural parts of the state, which is likewise screwing over the original residents there as well for the same reasons.
Seeing how all this has panned out over the last two decades, I have this nagging question in the back of my mind if this wasn't all planned out to occur as it has or if it is just indeed coincidence, I really starting to lean towards the former in all honesty and that is something I find disturbing to consider.

all yall out here acting like this isn't exactly what the founders had in mind - you vote with your feet, if you don't like your state you either change it or move to another state. that's why both mississippi and Illinois have lost population between censuses. I can't speak for Cali, but I'm originally born and raised from a Southern state and disagreed with its politics. my college education was half paid by the state lottery, but I moved to NY after graduating because I didn't want to live under a religious state government. I make more money and get to live in a state that my values align with, thank you to lottery goers and taxpayers of my home state for paying through my education and still losing my own tax dollars. I don't dislike my home state for what it is, I just know I can't morally live under such a situation. until such time that cooler heads prevail, I'll look over from my adoptive state and hope for the best. as long as the Southerners stay out of my business, I'm not inclined to step into theirs

..... except that's not what's happening at all because those people then corrupt where ever they re-settle and cause the same problems.
The founding fathers believed in a NET TAXPAYER VOTING SYSTEM. Something that is missing in modernity and instead, the U.S. has fascist policy like universal suffrage.
