Yep, that first part about getting the hemp well seated on the tuning pin is the most important part, there's nothing more aggravating than having your hemp spin after you get through, it's enough to make a grown man cry.
I use , and goes very well, yellow waxed and non waxed, mixed, for drones parts to move for tuning…and black and yellow waxed to fit to stocks…and goes perfect too
I agree, in a bind, that definitely works. I think having the hemp dry when you start playing is best. That way any moisture that builds up gets soaked into the hemp before it drips down the bore and gets on the reed.

Haha. I feel like you’ve secretly been watching me. I’ve definitely cried like a kid whose shoelaces have gotten into a knot and can’t get it undone.
Cheers from Ontario Canada 🍺
What part of Ontario?

I agree. I like the black waxed for stocks. The hemp doesn’t have to be super tight to keep them securely in place.
nice tricks thank you. Greetings from Belgium
Thanks for tuning in from Belgium. Let me know if you have anything you want me to do a video on.
@@sandiegobagpiper Thanks…yes, of course, hemping is a very important part of our bagpipe’s way…true!
@@sandiegobagpiper Yes, Richard, I have a clip…I will look for and the I will send you
@@sandiegobagpiper czcams.com/video/nTBR4BXCKHY/video.html. Excuse me, in Spanish…but you can see what I do to hemp properly
I have a problem like that with my Scottish smallpipes. the baritone drone is tight, and the tuning slide just drops down when moved all the way.
Did you try doing the cross cross pattern? If so, did it help with the slipping?
Hey Richard… remember a guy named Tyler from alltemp Maui?
Hey Man,
Totally remember you.
Dude it’s good to see you are still following the kilt… call me
You can moisten hemp to tighten it. Not a problem. Not scientific. Even supposedly waxed hemp swells. You are like me. You like piping
