Michael Porter Jr. has to have one of if not the funniest play styles in the league. Every time I watch him shoot I am caught off guard and I love every bit of it.
I love MPJ lmao. If the ball got to him you damn right know our boy is letting that baby fly like a duck and love him for it. He learnt how to attack the basketball this season so is getting those drive in and mid range shots out now. He's expanding his game and ever being more willing to pass it out a shot in favor of favoring a teammate
MPJ addressed this "never swing the rock" meme and stated that he has been green lighted by the team to shoot it every time he got the ball. Not only that, he is getting paid 37Mil a year to basically do just that.
His game was more expanded than anyone coming into the game at his age but they have a talent like that sitting in corners and no one noticed that Murray & Jokic have always purposely frozen him out when he’s better shooter than both. The thing is they’d be more devastating if they let him be the first option scoring but the pecking order isn’t cool with that plus guaranteed they weren’t feeling Mpj. Mpj coming out of high school could do way more than he’s doing to this day but that pecking order and Malone’s old school mentality dogs young talent. The tide is going to turn with no choice but they even had Mason Plumlee getting more touches and bringing the rock up to AG getting more touches and his O ain’t touching 10th grade Mpj. Then they got mad at him in the bubble when he publicly said dudes need to give up the rock so they froze him out more. The first yr Jokic got mvp most people weren’t paying attention and fell for the narrative which are always false or at least have holes in them. The nuggets weren’t winning and these early mvp convos while Jokic was putting up mvp numbers but they said the nuggets weren’t winning enough then Murray went down and the nuggets started to win so they gave Jokic all the credit though his numbers didn’t change. He was ballin’ out win or lose but the real turnaround was Mpj had covid but when Murray went down that meant they couldn’t freeze him out and Jokic had to give up the rock but it was Mpj ballin’ out. They have the most polished offensive player ever (KD was close) when he was coming into the league though the back stuff was going on and he still has drop foot but having him standing in corners like he’s just a spot up dude. He’s an easy 30/10 dude if they let him but then people speak on him like they forgot or didn’t know the back is why the nuggets hot him cause he’s generational in talent. People will speak on the finals and other stuff but that’s cause the best role players are actual role players with no choice but to be role players then you have those who accept the role but guys that know they have superstar abilities or even just know they’re more tham a role player will never truly flourish like that. It will be uneven performances. They’re being better with him but the fact AG gets more touches is almost funny. Yeah it worked but for them to max he’s the dude offensively. Jokic & Murray would still get their money but this dude from a shooter, scorer standpoint on a different level. Nba teams don’t try to max what their team can be it’s about those pecking orders. Eventually something is going to have to give. They can still have success this way but the margin for error is slimmer. The nuggets with Mpj treated like a role player, 3rd, 4th option not better than if they unleash that dude offensively plus like he said and showed he’s trying and getting better on the defemsive end
Michael is still young and coming of a long injury but he is maturing into a great player, on both sides of the court. His defensive capabilities are improving, and when you think about Nuggets as a team he always has 4 players that (yes Murray included because he had 10 assist average in the finals series) that are willing to pass and are good at passing.
mpj is lucky hes playing along the best player within a great ball movement system who with ag, jamal and jokic have a great system where players could flourish. put mpj in the heat you gonna have a bunch of veterans yelling at him and if he bricks 3 in a roll hes getting benched. he needs to develop his game cus hes been in the nba for 5 years yet it doesnt show
He had 1 bad series and y'all act like he's trash. He is efficient in regular season and most of the playoffs. It's okay if he's having bad offensive game as long as he is rebounding and playing good defense. He still a threat
_"His defensive capabilities are improving ..."_ LOL. Yeah, from extremely poor to only moderately poor. The bigger problem than his poor recognition and poor footwork is his lackadaisical attitude and poor effort. Don't envy Mike Malone having to find a way to motivate and manage him. He's definitely the outlier on that team when it comes to effort.
Mikey "Swing Pass?" of the Denver Nuggets. We all love Porter Jr., but the memes are just so true. We've seen his potential to rise though defensively, rebound wise, and surprisingly passing when it's most needed. Michael "Never Swing the Rock" Porter Jr. is definitely gonna join the list of stars you pointed out in the start with the trajectory he's approaching. Great and funny work my man, keep it up! ❤️🔥
I said this before, MPJ is the key for Nugget's attempt to win multiple chips because he's the one that needs to adjust his game the most. He was supposed to be the number 1 pick if it weren't for his back injury. His size and skill set would easily make him an all star on a different team and he probably thinks the same too. But in Denver, he's the third option and maybe even fourth if Gordon is playing well. It won't sit right with him so that's gonna be a big challenge for him especially now that he's a champ, he doesn't neccassarily need to be in a championship team and could be in a bad team but be the man in there.
I don't get the notion where mpj is trying to go to a bad team and be the man, when he has a potential dynasty team in his hands, all he has to do is become more efficient and continue getting great at isolation and spot ups, and it will be history, he also could get better on defense, his game fits very well with nuggets, otherwise, other teams with bad playbooks and playstyle would hurt his growth
You talk about his back injury and in the very next line you say he can easily be an all star on any other team? The only reason he is getting the least touches is because they don't want him to get injured, unless he is clear, he is not going to become an all star anywhere, and if he gets clear, he'll get more touches definitely
@@Jonathan-A.C. kyrie was kinda hard headed, especially based on lebron coming to cavs, as he wanted to be the leader, with the nuggets, they took a chance on him, and are giving him great looks, and mpj doesn't strike me as a guy with huge ego
@@theonlygoodonehere2259 Some people are like that especially considering if he becomes the number 1 option on a bad team, he could produce numbers that would earn him a max or supermax contract which he will never get in Denver as long as Jokic and Murray is in there. I've been a Nuggets fan since the 90s (yeah, rough years) so I've watched MPJs entire career. I dont want him to pass. He's in there for one reason - shoot 3's. The fact he's vastly improved his rebounding and defense is a bonus. He plays his role perfectly in Denver.
