- After a year of not having a good playable bass I finally broke out my stack of cash 💵💵💵 and bought the best 5 string bass I could find... and boy did I score!!!
Then I brought this bass to guitar tech legend Andy Brauer where he helped me make it even better before I sent it off to get a new Kahler Tremolo bridge installed.
Lots of helpful bass setup and maintenance tips shared throughout this video.

Fender jazz 5 string with a striped thread on the truss rod. Went on line to find out the thread pitch and all i found out is theres two guys arguing about it for ten years. While trying to figure it out by threading diferent nuts, one locked up, and i heard the rod move at the oppisite end. Turns out it was threaded on both ends and it was a miracle i got it out. Ordered stainless rod from new england, ordered tap and die from europe (nobody had the size in america although it shows up on some thread gauges) long story short i saved my bass by painstakenly making and replacing my truss rod. Still plays better than new
Really sucks what happened to you with warrior. Iv had a great relationship with the guys for a while myself and seeing what you showed with that neck would be an Immediate concern 😟

I didn't think I could watch a 48 min video but I did! Some great info in there. If you only have 1 or 2 frets that need work, you can just loosen off the strings and tape them off to the side. Its much quicker than restringing every time you want to check your work. It works on a guitar or 4 string, maybe the 5 string is too wide if you cut the strings too short?

Bass strings are so HEAVY! I've gotten a WELT on my hand from snapping my A string (the thinnest out of the strings) This time its my C string .....the lowest/heaviest string. God help me.
But for real, bass strings are no joke. Makes me wonder about frequency and resonance. Ohm. Maybe as opposed to a flute, or violin. Bassy though. I attribute it to the root chakra. Earth. Heavy shit. Bass clef ftw!!! 😎 Remember alcohol only on the strings! They instilled that in me....see ya at the distillery...lol

Definitely, if you're really wanting it and can imagine using this range. What kind of music do you like to play?
You have a professional working with you and everytime he leaves you decide to deviate from his instructions. When you buy an expensive bass or a unique bass like that Kot anything other than basic maintenance is risking the ruin of the instrument. Watching this was an excersice on patience it felt like standing at the edge of a cliff.
