This is far away from high quality work, and the argument "but he worked for great musicians" does not say anything about the quality of the work. First, you can measure the action height, e.g. with feeler gauges, this is no rocket science; something like "should be like a thin to medium pick" has nothing to do with repeatability or objectivity; there are publications who analyze the action height used by different famous players and their instruments, also there are number based recommendations from instrument companies. Then, leveling frets without simulated string tension is the worst way to do this, because many (not all) necks change their form under string tension, and we talk about 1/100 mm precision; neck jigs are available to buy or own build since decades and make it much more precise and predictable (using a Plek is the alternative). Filing frets without painter marking the top to avoid filing them too deep is amateurish, and the filing technique is not good at all, the worst fret filing I've seen so far, he didn't even manage to file out the heavy marks in the 1st fret. Pros in vintage audio repair using contact cleaner know that you should wash the oxidants resolving chemicals out with an alcohol type cleaner in a second step because the chemicals of the first step are very aggressive and can damage the charcoal parts of potentiometers. Tuners should be tightened under string tension, and before thightening the screw nut, you should tighten the screws of the tuner. The claim that you have to regulate the brightness of your tone with your trussrod is by far the weirdest thing I ever heard in any guitar/bass related video here on youtube. I can imagine that there are bass guitars where trussrod adjustments have a very slight (but not really noticeable) effect, but with a trussrod you adjust the neck shape with the goal to get a low action and/or minimum buzz.

Alembic basses are incredible. My Epic is still going strong after ~30 years. Never needed any repairs just an occasional tweak of the truss rods. It gets more beautiful as it ages. They’re expensive as all hell but so are luxury cars but these instruments last a lifetime.
