Clear instructions, great camera work, no long-winded unnecessary talk. This guy should give lessons on how to make a youtube video. Thanks for the informative video.
Wow- that was a very kind compliment. Thank you!! I appreciate you watching and commenting. Hope you have as much fun with your griddle as I have. Stay safe and enjoy!!!
Watched lots of cleaning and seasoning videos, this is by far the best and the info about not heating or cooking on high is very important, thank you!

Thank you. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Stay safe!!!
after forgeting to remove grease trap and then the clean-up i bought 2 1/2 feet of 5/8 radiator hose and hose clamp attached it to drain nipple zip tied to leg and used a quart orange juice bottle as a grease trap.when full screw the cap on and trash it.
Darden John - Now that’s an AWESOME idea. I may do that as well!!!!! I like that!!!!! Thank you.
Do food particles plug up the hose?
@@GiantAnteatersRkool not yet although i scoop the big stuff out
Great information. You'd be surprised how many people dont know this. Including myself. I just bought the 3 burner camp chef and I came across your video hiw to start the process out of the box. Seasoning prior to first use. Great info but can you tell me how season it and get it ready for first use. Thank you.
Hi there. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate your awesome support. For seasoning for first use , get your griddle hot then shut off your burners. Watch at 2:20 for the complete process. Thank you and stay safe and healthy!!!!
@@SmokinwithKasket just put mine together and (thanks to you and your video) tonight I’m seasoning and smashing! Great work, please keep it up!
Great news! You’ll love this thing! I’ve had a lot of fun and cooked a lot of food. It’s a Great unit!!! Let us know your opinion about the grill. Stay safe!

Great explanation!

Thank you I just got one of these very helpful thank you
Great video, can you tell me what brand and model number scraper you are using? I need a better scraper and need a heavy duty one. Thanks
That is a Blackstone griddle scraper. Model number or the SKU number is 21933007. I purchased that particular scraper at Walmart but they are also available at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support. Stay safe and healthy.
looking for part 1 of how to clean my flat top grill if you can help me
Part one is actually the unboxed saying and assembly.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Hopefully the unboxed saying assembly and the cleaning videos or helpful for you. This is an awesome unit to have in your backyard and I have used the hell out of mine..
I have the Blackstone griddle, and the camp chef two burner camp stove. I think I am going to get the griddle attachment for the camp chef, because the Blackstone is too big to take in the RV.
Sounds like a plan. We have a 24 foot travel trailer but I only use a small propane grill with one burner. I should upgrade as well. Stay safe!!!
Is there some easy way to see if the burner is actually burning? With the full griddle I cannot see the burners even when looking into the holes. I don't want to rely on the sound so I am forever on my knees trying to see inside. Am I missing something?
I’m not sure what’s wrong. I can clearly see the burners in my peep holes. That’s their main purpose. Sometimes you have to adjust your angle slightly as you look into them. I check my peep holes every time i light mine. I’m tall so I simply stoop over and look into them.
Have been looking at this model over the Blackstone. Do you store yours outside with the cover? How many times a week do you use it? I live in a hot and humid part of the country, and have been concerned about rust even if I went through the cleaning and seasoning process each time as your video shows. Thanks!
Thank you for watching and hopefully subscribing. Much appreciated!!! Both models are excellent choices. I leaned toward the Camp Chef because I can remove the griddle and use it as a gas grill. Check out my Instagram and you’ll see me cooking on the grates. The griddle is slightly smaller than the Blackstone but it’s my understanding the Camp Chef puts out more BTUs and gets hotter than the Black Stone. Plus, I just plain love the look of a Camp Chef with the stainless steel base and the red knobs. I keep all my grills in the garage and covered. I really don’t think you’ll have rust problems with it costed with cooking oil. Let us all know your decision. Stay safe!!!
Also, I just received the hinged hood for this unit today. Look for a video review on that in coming days. I’m anxious to install it. Best-
Thanks for the video review. I am about to order one, but could not find the BBQ grate (right at the end of your video) to order. Did you get this directly from Camp Chef? Subscribed!
The grates come with the grill. You can remove the grates when placing the griddle top on the unit. Enjoy this unit. Its AWESOME!!!
@@SmokinwithKasket do you keep on or remove?
I remove them and the heat shields when using the griddle plate. Enjoy!!!
@@SmokinwithKasket thanks. Stay safe!
Do people generally clean them a before use or after to leave it ready for the next time.?
Great question. The proper way is to clean and season after each use. Especially while the unit is still hot.
Great info!! I’m thinking about getting this, but it would be stored on my uncovered deck. Do you keep yours outdoors? I have also seen metal covers on Etsy that would protect it. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
Hi Scott - As long as you keep it covered there should be no issues. I would recommend the metal cover. I'm going to purchase one this spring (not the diamond plate. I think the smooth stainless cover looks awesome but that's just my preference). I keep all my grills and smokers in the garage and covered as well. You will LOVE this griddle. Enjoy and thank you for watching and commenting. Please subscribe if you haven't already. Stay safe!!!
@@SmokinwithKasket do you prefer the unhinged over the hinged? Do you think the cover gets in the way when cooking or trying to clean? Thanks
I prefer the hinged. It definitely does not get in the way. Well engineered.
@@SmokinwithKasket thanks for your response. Safe to use on a decent windy day?
@@DexterityNJ most definitely. You may have to adjust your angle. If it’s cold and windy you may have to raise the temp slightly.
Greetings Mr. Kasper, great video. I just put my FTG900 together today. The griddle top is very heavy on the 6 burner model. I was surprised at how "rough" the surface of the griddle was as unboxed with pre-seasoning from the manufacturer. I cant tell when watching your videos, was your griddle surface rough at first and then smoothed out as it continued to get seasoned, or does it still have that texture from the factory. Or maybe yours never had a texture?
I think mine has a texture but it didn't strike me as very rough. I can say that as you use it with your spatulas and scrapers, it will smooth out relatively quickly. I definitely think that my griddle texture is far smoother than my Lodge cast iron pans. Enjoy your grill - I LOVE this thing!!!! Thanks for watching. Stay safe.
If someone plans on cooking lunch and dinner on the griddle do you need to clean up after lunch?
Very easy cleanup. Just scrape your griddle down and start cooking the next meal. Super simple super easy super convenient. And it’s outside so you’re not messing up your house with splatter and crumbs on the floor.
Guy uses boutique EVOO to season his griddle 😳
Lol. I must’ve bought the EVOO on sale. Any oil will work just fine. Thank you for watching and commenting. ✌️
can you use a mild scotchbrite pad for cleaning
Your sure can. In fact i just looked at a product in Walmart in the grill department that looked very similar to Scotchbrite pads. Remember there’s no Teflon coating on the griddle surface so that won’t be a problem. Be sure to bring the temperature up and season it accordingly after you’re done cleaning.
@@SmokinwithKasket I just bought a griddle top accessory for my 2 burner camp chef camp stove and was curious as this is my first time using any kind of flat top.
@@benh554 Your going to love that!!! You may want to upgrade to a griddle that has a larger cooking area. Its nice to push food items off to the side that has been cooked while you work on other items in a dish or recipe. I love my Camp Chef. wish I would have bought one sooner!!!! All the Best-
@@SmokinwithKasket my uncle gave me it years ago and almost sold it. But now I go camping with my boys and their friends and dad's as part of the old indian guides program.
@@benh554 Excellent! It sounds like it’s put to great use then. Enjoy the heck out of it! When you can pick up the four burner. You’ll have a lot of fun with it in your backyard the possibilities are endless! Thank you for watching please subscribe if you haven’t already and stay safe.
The owner manual says to turn it on high the first time it is used.
Yes. That is correct. But, they are referring to the grill WITHOUT the griddle on the unit.
@@SmokinwithKasket if you dont plan on using the grill should you still do this? I have yet to build mine. Just got it :)
You still loving it? Trying to find one to buy
pal 251- Let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this grill!!! I wish I discovered griddle cooking on this size of a grill, years ago! It’s just great in every way. The food, even the steaks are amazingly delicious! Keep looking, you should find one soon. Thanks for watching. Stay safe!!!
@@SmokinwithKasket thank you so much. Great video(s)
Sometimes I have a hard time lighting my grill lighting my grill Do you have the same problem I noticed if I turn the first knob on and let the gas kind of like linger for a couple of seconds and then everything lights up
I actually do the same thing. I slowly turn the knob and let the gas bleed for two or three seconds and then snap the igniter. You may have to adjust your igniter a little bit closer or a little bit further away from the burner tube. Check it out and see if it seems to be optimized, the distance that is.
you never did a follow up video on the weber cart you built
Coming soon my friend. I’m a front line worker with exhausting hours dealing with this COVID ordeal but I intend to have Part 2 published very soon. Thank you for your support.
