Andrew gets a glimpse at people's screen time on their iphone after asking them their best guess what they think their daily average is, as well as few more very important questions.

Comment your daily average screen time below!
3 Hours
13.5 hours 😅
do people on religion next!
50 minutes
3.2 hours, mainly shifting between the same 2 game apps and a bit of insta and maybe some reddit once in a while. I do all my youtube enjoying on the pc which would be more like 4 - 6 hours a day easily, as i don't watch tv ever.
That one chick with 8 hours was in total self-denial about what's considered a healthy amount of time
Yeah that was actually sad to see lol. Insane.
For real. Andrew couldn't help laughing.
Bruh I swear the more screen time the lower brain cells
Me: I only have 45 minutes! Theese people are so addicted lol. Also me: Been sitting infront of my computer for 14 hours.
My freaking screen time is 8 omg my mom would kick my a** if she knew 😐😐😐
I don't spend much time on my phone, i'm old school, i still pop in blu rays
20 years ago there where documentaries about gaming addiction and their screentime was like 5 hours a day and it was considered as way too much :D Now young people casually say 8 hours :D I always thought this would get out of hand eventually and would be bad for society. But i didnt see tiktok and short videos in general coming. Another level of addiction.
It's crazy scary alright. Personally I think 1h is too long for phone SOT, for consumption. It'd be different if it's for work.
At least now it makes sense why cause it's a whole billion dollar industry that revolves around alot of our lives and its all instantaneous 4k quality and data is cheap. Back then it was niche nerdy stuff, slow and the graphics and quality was just trash
Hhh
Bro in the early 2000’s people were grinding WoW & RuneScape for 12-16 hours a day. You don’t know shit lol.
Wait until we get into the metaverse. With VR or AR we’re gonna have a screentime of 24h
I quit Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and TikTok. I used to average over 8 hours a day and it has plummeted to around 2.
How did you stop? I feel like a cant do "nothing" anymore. Like waiting for the subway etc
I use Instagram as my primary messenger but I always find myself scrolling through reels for hours even if I just go on to message someone. I wish I could disable reels.

@@shanghaifunk. ppl used to say reading too often was unhealthy before we looked at our phones lol
5:37 it's scary how he's flipping his phone and catching without looking lol. It's become an extension of his body.
Mad! Good catch
It is crazy to think isn't it. So many people I know are so addicted to either TikTok or Instagram reels. To the point where they genuinely cannot watch films, series, or enjoy old or create new hobbies.
There are so many people stuck in a quick dopamine feedback loop, and god knows how many people are out there, who wake up, go to work or university, do their work, and get home and scroll for hours... we need to start pushing people to be creative and thinking again, rather than dumping out content...
Well if this many people are doing it, it means we should research why we do it, what it does for us and why we need it. Then we should establish good motivations to pursue alternatives that are less damaging. Most people know it's bad, and most people don't even feel fulfilled because of it. We should treat it as it is, an addiction. A large problem as well is algorithms designed to induce this addiction, purely to make more money off people. These companies should be limited, controlled to a certain extent and there should be more ethical online platform alternatives (that won't be bought by Facebook after success). I think a lot of people would be on board with ethically conscious social media, as their addiction probably interferes with their daily lives as well. Quitting all together is often too much of a jump, and not a good alternative either since people do want to stay entertained and connected, but we should do so more consciously. Not just for us, but for the generations to come.
I love the variety of ways Andrew tells us to “smash” the like button

If you spend 2 hours a day on social media (a lot of people do), that is 1 month per year of your life. Let that sink in.
if you take sleeping time into consideration, it will cover higher % of your usable time.
Good to see you out there Stompin’ the yard again Andrew.
Interesting how everyone's response to a healthy amount of screen time is always like an hour less than their current average.
Was just thinking it would be interesting to get some data on the correlation to what people deem as healthy being within X percent of what they do. Probably could be adapted to diets people think are healthy etc.
Just as a tip, you should have asked "Do you think its something we should worry about?" to everyone!
Bingo
Entertaining, but also thought-provoking. Keep it up!
Its one of those things we as human feel bad about being addicted to but keep doing. It will only get worse till it gets better
Saying this while using screen time to watch this video is wild
the definition of addiction is this. you know it's bad for you but keep doing it
this is super enlightening honestly. Its crazy how much time we spend on our phones when it could be used doing something productive either financially or toward mental health.
Yo dude your videos are really well done, i love how you go straight to the point, nice, gently, and with a relaxing tone of voice, keep doing it!!
Imagine ordering Doordash and Andrew Hales shows up at your door....
Yo dude the vibe of this video with the foliage and style of each individual is so beautiful, the aesthetic is so pleasing. Amazing work keep going dude you bring a lot of positivity to this world
Mine is like 12 hours a day but I listen to CZcams if I can’t sleep, which is often. It breaks down like 7 hours of CZcams, 1.5 hour on Duolingo (some of the awake CZcams time is language related too), 1 hour using a clock app when I need a visible clock on screen (atomic clock app), about an hour of Reddit, 30 minutes email and the rest on general safari use and a phone game I play.
It’s really interesting seeing usage my age demographics. Like I can’t stand tiktok and the CZcams videos I like are generally very long documentary style since I can listen while I’m doing something else, or trying to sleep. Needing to constantly swipe through 30 second videos sounds like absolute pain to me, and if I want bite size content I can use Reddit but also search for very specifically what I want by subreddit instead of some algorithm force feeding me. Very cool video idea you have here and interesting comments!
lmao your disposition is absolutely incredible. You have the best vibes dude
I love this question.
Feels like andrew stays on the first layer of a person in these interviews.
Love this series!
Andrew’s lack of eye contact makes these videos so funny
Worrying to see so many people on TikTok. People really should look at them terms & conditions and educate others on the dangers of it. 🙏🏻😊
It’s a shame - tiktok can really be a cesspool at worst and even at its most innocent it can’t really be great for developing attention spans.
My same thoughts. What an awful app.
People don't care, they're bored and apathetic and short videos are perfectly addictive to take their mind off reality.
Always lookin forward to these erry week
Now this was a great idea Andrew! More!
KEEP PUMPING THE JUICY CONTENTS MY GUY!
I’ve been waiting for a vid like this very epic man
This was a great tool. Thank you so much!!
My screentime this week was 13hrs a day. I am cronically sick and bedridden tho.
"aight lez take a luk" 👀😂
Great idea for a video Andrew keep the awesome content coming! My average screentime is ~5hrs a day.
Oh man I love this kind of content. Keep it up Andrew !!! Love u from Sri Lanka
????
I still have IG for the Fam and some friends but I got rid of all of my socials and never had a Tik Tok. You honestly don’t miss it at all.
Love the chick at 8:15 no idea why, just seemed focused and chill at the same time
love this series
Andrew said Apocalypse Now is even better than Full Metal Jacket? Guess I gotta go back and finish that 10 hour epic. Great video btw
crazy how normal these numbers of screen time have become, just 10 years ago when I was little my parents would not tolerate anything over half an hour for gaming/tv
That dude in the blue sweatshirt gave me severe anxiety when he started flipping his phone.
I'm on my phone under 20 minutes per day, I mostly only use it to order rides, order food and to text, sometimes navigation, occasionally look something up on Google. But I'm on my laptop for between 7 and 10 hours per day.
I spend most of my screen time on CZcams watching Andrew
I hate how addicted I am to my phone. It’s embarrassing how difficult it is for me to fast. I consciously have to avoid it
Take it one step at a time. You're already doing great and I can understand your struggle with it.
its actually interesting to see others screen time
Great concept my guy
You got stand up comedian vibes bro! 😄
This made me realize so much. I have 10 hours screen time average 💀
I spend most of my time on CZcams
5:51 Homie really juggling that phone like its nothing. Must be making bank door dashing..
I like how that neck stretches around so he can see exactly!
Falling asleep to youtube really fucks that screen time up 🤣🤣
5:00 omg the laugh i swear he thought she was kidding until he realized she wasn't
I’m amazed how many people are hooked on TikTok. I’ve never seen a funny or interesting video on it.
Like the gentleman at the beginning said, it depends how you're using it and on what. Mine is 5, but I use CZcams as my television and for music. 5 is probably still to high though
Edit: 2 hours of passive scrolling is NOT healthy. Passive scrolling destroys our attention span
This was actually a cool concept. I remember when my dad would set an egg time for 30-60 minutes and would kick me off when it dinged. I hated it, crazy how times have changed and now everyone is literally on phones 4-8 hours a day. not including computer
This was a really good one.
Dude when you say like button There was a ring around the like button. Cool!
crazy to see how much people use their phones per day
One of my professors was just talking about Aspartame... you should do "people on diet soda" or something like that next
aspartame is a sugar substitute that is very sweet and does well in drinks. It does not make you fat, it just goes through the body without being digested, much like dietary fiber.
Source: just cut weight down to 8% bodyfat while drinking diet soda all the way
Bucked up doesn’t even have aspartame. Idk why she said that.
I believe it jacks up your gut biome though
Funny. Was just thinking today how cool it would be doing this. Coincidence. Thanks
"That's about it" - Andrew Hales
With winter coming it’ll go up. Starting to sell a lot more online so new apps are adding time.
my screen time is insane. my average is usually like 14 hours a day but it's because I'm a truck driver and have google maps open and podcasts playing the whole time. and then when I get home I usually watch some youtube and go to bed. Every time I see the screen time notification it shocks me every time lol.
I think you still have a healthy screen time because you need it as a truck driver.
I’m 8 and it’s CZcams. I have it on at the gym, shopping, and driving
You know you spend a lot of time on the phone when you flip it like pro.
For me I use my phone for work a lot, but since CZcams and all of the entertainment is there you get occupied sometimes by it.
I've gotten it down to 2h 32m on my phone mostly(1hr) reddit with morning coffee. otherwise I might be listening to youtube videos. all of that's not even counting the 12 hours I spend staring at my pc screens, or the time on other devices. when work school and enter
the numbers are underreported due to laptop/mac usage. If you factored in computer, phone and tv usage I think itd be 12-16hrs per day
I looked at my daily screen time average and felt good about 3.5 hours.. then I remembered that I spend about 5 hours a night after work on PC watching youtube videos and browsing twitter and reddit... fml
“…and make them feel, less…” 😂😂😂
lmao that conversation with reg shirt girl around 8:30 was so awkward there was absolutely no chemistry. It was like old LAHWF... I started to expect throwing confusing things mid conversation like that old video (I killed a guy mmm is it a good pre workout?) haha :D
I’m just under 8 hours, but I use navigation apps a lot for my job. CZcams takes up a lot of it too
Daily average is 1h 7m. Down 43% from last week. Usually it's closer to 2
I have 2 freshman kids 1 high school and 1 in college.. they’re generation doesn’t ask for someone number, they ask for their snap.. asking for their number is equivalent to asking for their social lol
Apocalypse now is one of my favorite movies.
Do peoples thoughts on Aliens! I love these Andrew!~
5:38 YOURE GOING TO DROP THAT PHONE DUDE , STOP!
My jaw dropped multiple times. The world is going down the drain fast
that second dude is wise af.
I love how Andrew is out there tackling the real life iss..... Fuck I'm part of the problem!
4 hour screen time, I think if I deleted tiktok that number would go down to like 1.5-2.5 hours as I'm not that active on insta and I deleted snapchat years ago
Never knew screen time was available on iphone. Checked mine: 10 minutes.
if you spend 1h a day, that's almost 5 months non stop on a screen without sleeping in 10 years.
Great topic!
Really seems like Tiktok doubles screen time or so. I felt so relieved when i deleted tiktok. Would love to delete snapchat and instagram if it weren't such a good way to keep in contact with people.
8:19 he found his match 😁
Turning "on" my Screen Time, now I'm going to be even more conscious of lower my hours. Already pretty low. No TikTok. Was off Insta for a year, but back on it.
girls who spent most of their time on snapchat are not for long term relationships xd
they chasing that dopamine attantion
If a girl has tiktok I don’t even consider dating them.
Idea for a video: what supplements do you use? Vitamins etc.
I feel like you're supposed to say that Apocolypse Now is better than Full Metal Jacket but the first part of Full Metal Jacket is a masterpiece.
I love these videos
8 hour day at work, 2 hours twitter, 3 hours on youtube
I have 12 hours but fall asleep with it playing at night
So many awkward handshakes Easter eggs in this video
What an absolute dude
a certified dude
5:10 sounded like drunk Bam
Bro with the red phone always asking for a charger
I'm from Germany, I have an average screen time of 0 hours 58 minutes and live my life with my head held high. xD
I kid you not, my daily screen time is 12.5 hours. And that's on CZcams alone. My job is basically to watch videos all day, and even after work I watch more videos and play games on my phone.
it's always awkward when you say "that's about it" LOL
Mine is 12 hrs a day is that good?
My screentime averages around 10 hours a day BUT that includes working, GPS, listening to motivational or self-improvement videos and other productive things that are actually healthy. If my iPhone didn't do everything it does, I'd be using it less but I'd be using a camera, a radio or stereo, a typewriter, a calculator and a lot of other devices. THAT BEING SAID, I'm under no illusions about what's actually healthy. I think a maximum of 45 minutes a day is healthy and even that is being very generous. We aren't meant to be staring at screens. The ideal goal is 15 minutes at most per day but that's nearly impossible.
