Channel 9 news item regarding the demise of the Chinook helicopters from the Royal Australian Air Force (as it turned out - temporarily). Newsreader is Robyn Parkin's hair.
Sorry about the quality but these tapes have deteriorated somewhat.
Australia was a better place then!
SFB politicians have literally sold all for personal and corporate gain.
And Keating’s irresponsible decision was later reversed as the need was painfully felt. Wasn’t just upgrade cost it was because the new F model was thought to be too expensive. Now we have 12 CH-46Fs.
Just a slight correction, we have 10 CH-47F not 12 CH-46F Chinooks 👍
i remember when this happened and instantly thought it was a dumb idea , just like getting the styer , and when we had to get more chooks ( and bring the iroquis out of mothballs ) i laughed and thought yeah told ya
The US National Guard apparently picked them up due to how good nick they were.
Back when the Airforce flew......then gave Army the air.
Cool helicopter.. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
