I was in Bowling the day the Orca Whales swam up the Clyde, it was a gorgeous warm evening (had to check the metadata on my pictures as I couldn't believe it was only April) I didn't even know they had visited. Great video Jim as usual, cheers mate
In the early 1990s I visited this castle when it was surrounded by the still active ESSO storage plant. I simply turned up and asked to gain admittance at the main gate and I was escorted in to see the castle by a security guard, who also handed me a printed sheet giving info about the site. So visitors requesting to see the castle must have been a regular occurrence - and I think there was actually a public right of way into the castle. If there was, what happened to that right of way? The house/castle was uninhabited; boarded up and its interior inaccessible. I was allowed in to the grounds around the castle, but the guard would not let me see the sea gate from the outside (it would have required jumping over some pipes that ran along the edge of the shoreline). Photography was forbidden "for security reasons".
What a great spot to live by the river. I am surprised to see the house is abandoned. Thanks Jim

Built in 1380, Douglass Castle was the caput of Clan Colquhoun.
My family (Ingram) was a Sept of the Colquhoun clan of which I am very proud Sylvia Ingram 2023

No it's not open to the public it's down at the old esso terminal so you cant get in

@@Williegillan no the area is fenced of May find a gap not sure at this moment in time. Think there's an old jetty on the clyde.
