    Wow, thanks. You have most certainly made this plain and simple. I've had a very tough time with the half step down tuning. I've always tried my hardest at mastering the guitar. I had other people do it for me. No one actually explained it to me. Thanks for taking time to demonstrate all this. I'm so happy. Sometimes, things are so easy, (ridiculously easy,) It's complicated. Or, at least I've managed to make things difficult for my self. You have summed it up. I will never forget this. Thanks Party Marty. Alot of metal songs I grew up with, such as Ozzy, Kiss, Zeppelin just to name a few. Are tuned a half step down. This is what I needed. Blown away by all this. It really means a lot to me. I have found that if your guitar is tuned properly. You have a wider chance of finding the chords to any song. All you have shown me, makes prefect sense to me. And I will make sure I subscribe to your video. Will you do more videos on different tuning. Such as a whole step down and tuning to a flat D ? Ect, ect.

  • @vanhewitt
    @vanhewitt Před 8 lety +34

    That's a aesy way to do it. But be aware. I think it has a disadvantage because a capo can pull a guitar out of tune. Especially due to the lower string tension. So in that case the open chords (after removing the capo) can be out of tune. That's why i tune the guitar without a capo. But when using a capo i retune the guitar. Or tune the guitar with the capo as suggested and after removing the capo do a fine tuning.

Their steel guitar player, Tom Brumley, did NOT tune down so he played everything a half step flat. Hence, the unique Bakersfield sound. Some folks wanting to play along with Don, Buck, and the gang might find this useful.

    Thats pretty cool. Easy and works good. Only think I can think of is one other thing, harmonica, tuning tool, youtube note just to check if one is right. Some capo pull the strings a bit, can be in tune then with capo off out on one string or another. This looks like the way I will do it though as long as I have a capo.

    Tuning down a half step has the advantage of more range . You can play a half step down or slap the capo on first fret and be in standard tuning .
