How to Fix "Scratch Disk Full" Error on MacOS

- In this video, I’m going to teach you how to fix Photoshop scratch disk full error on Mac.

Clear our scratch disks (Photoshop - Edit - Purge)
Delete temporary files (Finder - Go - Go to Folder - go to the /tmp destination)
Delete junk files on your hard drive
Download CleanMyMacX here to remove your system junk: bit.ly/37txT9q
Change your scratch disks (Photoshop - Preferences - Scratch Disks)
Free up RAM via Terminal: the command you’ll need: sudo purge
To free up RAM with CleanMyMac X use the Maintenance feature.
Reset Photoshop preferences (Preferences - General - Reset Preferences On Quit)
Disable auto-recovery (Preferences - File Handling)

this is the most helpful video I've seen yet, however it still didn't solve the problem. I am not even able to open photoshop bc scratch disks are still full. I tried deleting and reinstalling Photoshop, this did not work either. any tips, anyone?

Great video! Thank you. I have saved this one. Also, I added an external SSD to my mac mini but it does not show up in Preferences/scratch disks to be selected within photoshop. How do i add this so i can use it for scratch disks?
Awesome video and lots of great tips! I'm still running into some issues. When I locate the tmp files and try to move them to the trash. It gives an error message saying "The operation can't be performed because the disk is full". Also, when I click the apple in the top left > about this mac > storage: it shows that I have ~228.78 GB available of 1.03 TB. Very confused. Any tips appreciated!

Hey I have a question about using an extra SSD to plug into my Mac to create more RAM space. What size SSD would you recommend is a good size to ensure photoshop doesn’t run into the scratch desk error as frequently? Great video btw :) has been the only helpful one I’ve seen so far!

I have a problem with photoshop I cant find an answer to. I want to add a SSD to use as my scratch disc but no matter what drive I plug in or where I plug it into, my mac doesnt recognize it! Any idea why that's happening? I've tried 3 different hard drives both SSD and HHD. I've also tried it in 3 different ports. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I only have one destination available for Scratch Disks, and do not see a way to add one. In this video, there was only one destination. How do I add the additional destinations? (I've got my computer hooked up to a massive external storage device)
