For the glory of Hashut, the Uzkul Dhrath Zharr march back into their ancient home lands. Dwarfen Rangers of Karak Hirn, ever patrolling the mountain paths, send word of their traitor kin's return. Hearing this, King Borek "Thunderbrow" Thorekson, musters the clans, to strike one of the oldest entries from his Book of Grudges.

Runesmiths can't dispel while in combat.
Cannon has to trace LOS to the initial point you pick, and it can't shoot such way, to hit units in combat. Yes, that's how bad it is.
Only one challenge per combat.
Runesmiths and lords are just not worth it, they maybe have a place in a Royal Clan list now that they can be the BSB but even then I'd rather take a gun-thane as my BSB.
Bugger, I totally forgot about no dispell in combat. I feel like that should be changed for dwarfs. Miss play on the cannon for sure. I don't know what I was thinking allowing that second challenge! Brain fart.
Great battle report! Just a note: deathblow hits from the slayers benefit from the Slayer special rule, so never wound worse than 4+!
Yep, learnt this after the game. It makes the rule SO MUCH BETTER!
@@rogueelementgaming Even better, the Slayers of Legend get to apply their upgraded "Slayer of *" and (maybe) their Killing Blow rule. A Dragonslayer or Daemonslayer can actually pump out some decent damage against monsters just by dying to them, provided they don't have great armour.
A lovely Grudge match with a lot of drama that really helped show the differences between the two factions

slight rules note for 1:58:15 : stomps & thunderstomps (the latter having AP -2 against most targets, p.196) always happen at initiative 1 (p. 177), since the damage of each initiative step is simultaneous, so Borek could have hit back with his great weapon and, perhaps, go down in a slightly more glorious way! (p. 146).
Honestly some of the finest batreps exist on this channel. The vibe mirrors tabletop tactics so well, wonderful peeps enjoying what they love. My hero.

Almost forgot, when the Lamasu is behind the infantry unit of chaos dwarfs it can not be targeted by the cannon. Check FAQ page 10. It states you can not place the shot in a way it would hit a unit friend or foe who are in combat.

Falling back is two dice and pick the highest ( not both). Also panic is only caused by units 5+ unit strength dying . Still , who cares? Great battle report
About that cannon shooting, you can never shoot in a way that risks hitting a unit in combat. (as if cannons needed it)
Can a cannon be shot in such a way as to hit an enemy unit that is engaged in combat with a friendly unit?
No. Page 143 of the rulebook makes it clear that, except in rare cases, units cannot shoot enemy units that are engaged in combat. In the case of cannon, this means the target point cannot be placed in such a way as to risk the cannonball hitting a friendly unit, or an enemy unit engaged in combat with a friendly unit.

The challenge between BSBs was still ongoing so no other challenges could have been declared:
To The Death! pg 211
If both participants in a challenge survive the round of combat, and if the combat continues into the next player's turn, the challenge will also continue. Further challenges cannot be issued in that combat until the existing challenge has been resolved.
Don't worry about taking things a bit slower and checking units and weapons rules, combat results and the numbers of the rolls. It is nice to play fast, but it is also a bit of a pity when a combat is decided one way when it should have gone the other way just because you missed one rule (and tow has a dense rulebook).
Yep, both these things were miss played. Woops! I don't think the combat would have gone drastically different however. Thanks heaps for the detailed rules corrections and the page references! 😀
I think dawi zharr sabouters may have added warpstone to the resin when they were making those dwarven dice.

Great job with the base adapters. I don't like the look, but I have full sympathy for not wanting to rebase a finished army, especially if you still play 6th ed! I've given up on my chances to play 6ths, everyone I know want to play Old World and I figured we could just as easily play 6th with larger bases if it ever happens

Fun battle report! A few things already mentioned by others but also noticed you applied cover to a larger target. You don't apply cover modifiers when targeting models that are large target e.g. Hellcannon

The sorcerer couldn't have aided the Hellcannon with his infernal engineer rule, as it is not a war machine, it is indeed a monster 🤷🏼♂️ Same way he cannot help an Iron Daemon cause it's a chariot.

Here, get Boric some pals to bear him aloft on a shield!! 3 extra wounds for 60 points is great. I think the Master Rune of Smiting is the right choice also - if you don't roll completely crap!

I know it’s Rules as Written, but in case of a Great Weapon with runes there’s an argument to be made that Sorcerous Miasma turns that into a mundane great weapon, not hand weapon.
I thought the same, but as you say, rules as written.

When Slayers die, they benefit from the slayer rule meaning they still wound on a 4+ against targets regardless of toughness.
I think you also forgot the outnumber combat resolution aswell. The dwarfs wouldve likely double outnumbered the infernal guard and lammasu on that first combat with both, so even with 1 combat res from outnukber would've caused them to likely panic

Blunderbussiers do get -1 for moving and shooting. Lammasu must have a targeted unit in his vision arc to cast ramparts (turn 1 cast).

1. Blunderbusses DO suffer a -1 to hit for moving and shooting
2. Panic test only needed if MORE than 25% casualties (28:10)
Oh and you can use Look Out Sir! against the Curse of Hashut. But you probably would have fumbled that 2+ as well ;)
And the Dreadquake still has to roll for reloading even with the Ogre Loader.

So I watched all the ToW batreps and read through the rules and don't think it's anywhere near as good as 6th edition. Things I'm not liking -
1) Magic system is silly and dispelling is weird
2) Pre-measuring ranges takes away a lot of fun and skill
3) Random charge ranges no thanks
4) Everything seems to have a ward save
5) Linehammer lol
6) Allowing 50% on characters encourages lots of Lords riding monsters
7) Seperating AP from Strength and proccing on a 6 seems needlessly complicated and slows things down
8) Push back and fall back in order. Again needlessly complicates things and makes it much harder to destroy units. Losing a combat and failing break test should have consequences
They have added lots of complications, exceptions and rules just to deal with other rules they added and does not seem as free flowing and simple as 6th edition. I hope you do more 6th edition batreps, I think they are more entertaining and fun!
As someone who despises dwarves in every genre and every game this is great. I have banned them in D&D and all rpgs.
