Audrey and Cary, two of the most talented and beautiful actors of all time together in a classic movie as good as this! Who could ask for more than this awesome film?!
I agree with you 100%!
It's April 11, 2022 and I'm still making time to watch this movie. This movie is 59 years old, but it still stirs up my emotions as if it were a new release.
Audrey,cómo,siempre,maravillosa,la,música,de,h,Mancini,estupenda,
There's a lady that looks like Audrey that often comes into the local casino... I'm thinking about checking her out...
And the most freakiest in their time 🤭
Thanks for uploading this classic ⚘️⚘️
No CGI, no explosions, no bizarre looking people, only stylish ladies and gentlemen speaking clearly in an entertaining story showing the beauty of Paris and coronated by Cary Grant's charisma and the gracefulness of Audrey Hepburn 👑 Love the classics ❤️
Actually, some compositing techniques were used in this movie. For example, when Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn were on a boat on the Seine River - it's compositing, they haven't been on that boat. It doesn't make the movie worse, it's just a little cinematic trick when there was no CGI.
@moroz98 My favourite river-Seine-boat scene is the one in "Before Sunset".
I love the classics, too, but there's nothing wrong with CGI or explosions. I enjoy many times of movies, I don't limit myself to only the classics. To me, that would be like listening to only one genre of music.
Also, although I do love the classics, and the well-behaved people in them, and the nicely-dressed people in them, the acting is often really bad - often very fake, very wooden. Plus a lot of them are very macho, very bad treatment/attitudes towards women. A lot of sexist attitudes. So although I appreciate many things about them, there's a downside, too.
@Julia I think the problem with modern effects and explosions is that there's too much of it. Like the super hero movies for example, they are good as a genre but they're being made much more than they should.
In the old days actors were still affected by theatrical performance, and their fans liked that, that's why it may seem to our contemporary view as unnatural. I wonder how people after 50 years will assess the acting in our time.
I'm not sure what do you mean by sexism in classic movies, may be that I come from a different culture. Personally I like how actors in those movies were polite with women compared to our time, even when they wanted to show their affection (except for the bad guys of course 😉)
This was one of the best films ever made. Grant, Hepburn, music by Mancini, and clothes by Givenchy it doesn't get better than that!!!!
I agree! I love this movie, and Mancini's music is some of the best ever recorded. I wish someone would make a CZcams channel that played all of these old classics. It seems like finding these gems is getting harder and harder to find. Today's movies couldn't hold a candle to these classics.

Incredible film! It truly has everything; plot twists, romance, funny moments. Grant and Hepburn are such a fantastic duo! Honestly cannot recommend this enough!
Really I just found it annoying and beneath them both. I regret I found it disappointing.
@@bluewren2
Fully agree. Terrible plot.
Unfortunately even crappy movies are romanticized just because they have popular bygone stars and it's generally the case that 'the grass is always greener ... ' Lol
@@bluewren2 I found the silly "romance" annoying.
I've seen this movie many times but never tire of it. So much class and humor not to mention that great Mancini music. It's truly one of the greats.
Obviously you are one of the greats thank you Deborah.

Oh, the music, agreed! My Mom passed 4 years ago yesterday and we loved these old corny fun Cary Grant movies. Still think he is charming. Watched this for me and my Mama both today. Miss you Mom.
This movie has an all star cast and the music brings me back to the 60's. What a thrill to see them on the screen. Ms. Hepburn was beautiful, a wonderful actress and should have lived a longer life. I hope you enjoy the movie.
Grand old classic with an excellent support cast, depicting educated worldly-wise sophistication and maturity rather than the shallow, brash, youthfulness of modern cinema. An absolute tonic to jaded sensibilities; many thanks for sharing...
I agree with you 100%!
Amen! One of my top 5 movies since I saw it in the Sixties!
Ditto!
Yes, movies and life for that matter used to be done with class. I totally agree with you.
Bless you,
Agree 100%!
The opening graphics, Mancini's music, an excellent plot, Cary and Audrey all a winning combo can never be beat!
You cannot go wrong with having Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in the same film. It doesn't hurt either by having great supporting actors.

These old classics are much better than modern movies any day of the week!!!
As someone put it so well: "the best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made”, an observation that remains true today, as it did back then. While it might indeed be an homage to the the great director, "Charade" also stands pretty well on its own as a top-notch thriller with a witty script and a superb cast. Plus, that unforgettable title theme and music score by Henry Mancini. Oh,
for those times when people actually dressed instead of looking as though they just rolled out of bed as they do, nowadays.
Great film but only superficially Hitchcockian. Charade is a clever plot-driven toy directed with chic elegance by the great Stanley Donen. Even a gaudy trifle such as Hitchcock's 'To Catch A Thief' though is overflowing with subtle complexities and interpersonal tensions that arise from the characters NOT just the plot.
Audrey Hepburn had a top designer working for her personally. Cary Grant fills a business suit very well.
@@poetcomic1 Donen indeed knew what he was doing!
Also, it's from a time when actors didn't mumble, as a non-native English speaker these are the only kind of movies I can actually understand.
It was a time when cinema and theatre were more closely related: in a theatre you can't mumble otherwise people in the far back seats won't be able hear you.
Hitchcock was making The Birds, better movie with lesser box office.
What an awesome and well written movie. I really miss the days when these came into the Theaters.
One of my all time favourite films. Audrey and Cary were the perfect fit to star along side eachother in this timeless classic. Can't recommend this film enough.
Americans usually spell it FAVORITE. FAVOURITE is the British spelling.

OMG I love this movie. It is smart, witty, beautifully shot and Hepburn and Grant are classic together! It’s timeless 💖
Matthau as the villain was brilliant.
Timeless but oh. Life was so simple then. What a gem. Makes you wish for a scriptwriter in meeting someone. I think Moonlighting had the same feel to it. Like glistening raindrops clearing the air of dusty cobwebs. Simple romance. Not raw. They were like a pair of matching gloves warm luxurious.

A classic with all great actors.Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn,a winning combo,Audrey has such class.
I miss this kind of film.I love Audrey Hepburn's classic beauty.
An oldie, but a goodie. Great performances by Carry Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
Seen this several times over the decades and I still love it. There was a big fuss about the difference in their ages but they are both adorable! 🥰. (James Coburn is one of my favorite actors and it was sad seeing him suffocated).
Audrey was just something else, her acting was so pure, she had amazing expressions and even though she definitely was the perfect princessy, dreamy girl, whenever she had the chance she showed just how versatile she was. Probably why my favorite performance of hers was Eliza Doolittle, she was so funny on that movie and it breaks a little that type of role she got as Sabrina, Natasha or even Jo. Actually if I'm being honest every performance has something that makes it unique, so probably my favorite will be whichever one I'm watching. But cockney accent Audrey on My Fair Lady and her "Moon River" scene on Breakfast at Tiffany's are always going to have a special place in my heart.
All of that and a true personal warmth that came through in all of her films - her warmth infused all her facial expressions and her voice.
@@paulademichele1313 Yes, I absolutely love her voice and smile. She is the kind of person everybody would just stop to listen, because she had this ineffable beauty about her so as much as I love her as an actress, my favorite recordings of her are when she is speaking in her natural accent and tone. There we can see how intelligent she was, and just how much she had to share about life, love and kindness. I do like the fact that she an icon of beauty and fashion, but I hope that in future she is remembered more for the warrior and great human being that she was, it would be a tragedy to have someone with a message so powerful be known only as a pretty face, or a Funny Face , for that matter. (srry about the long wall text lol, can get a little carried away when it's about my biggest hero and inspiration in life, Audrey)
If you love Audrey as Eliza Doolittle and her singing Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany’s how you seen/heard the original recording of her singing Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, which was dubbed over by Marni Nixon in post production. Audrey was very upset as she’d worked hard to improve her sining.
You can find it in CZcams.
@@sookibeulah9331 Yeah thanks, I've seen it. Have you heard the other ones too? I believe there are at least 4 of the originals available. The last one (where she sings to Higgins on the garden) I'm sure is available.
Watching "Charade" I've almost forgotten about Ms. Hepburn's Eliza Doolittle role. "My Fair Lady" is another movie I really don't mind watching again.
What a great opening to a film. And it contains one of the most likable villains in cinema history.
A true classic with legendary actors! Cary Grant's voice alone was so charming but his looks were handsome! Audrey was like a true lady and the fashion by Givenchy was the best of the 60's!
Cary Grant is a superb actor, and paired with Audrey Hepburn they are like magic together. Miss Hepburn was appointed a Good Will Ambassador for UNICEF in 1989. She did a lot of good work until she died. This film is fantastic.
There is so much style and elegance in this film, - apart from suspense. And concerning Cary Grant: He apologizes for yawning.........before knocking down the offender. Unsurpassable!
Cary Grant! The epitome of class, pizza, professionalism . Done could not have picked a better pairing up . Forget the malicious rumours! They broke the mould after these two were born .
Are you aware that Grant was shortlisted for the Bond role in "Dr. No"? He did not want to get trapped in sequels. Grant rules!
Pizza?
Cary looks to be twice her age....
Audrey sadly died in 1993,she was only 63 or 64.
I keep forgetting just how good this film is. Stanley Donen director! No wonder!
Really amazing climactic chase inside a large french theater....the lighting, the cinematography, the film editing and the sound engineering. ( Audrey Hepburn trapped, Walter Matthau stalking her and Cary Grant listening to the sound of footsteps before pulling that trap door switch!)
Yes - the technical side of film making, everything that makes the acting and the story work as film - is rarely understood and appreciated. Thank you.
It sucks that the two of them didn’t make more movies together: they make such a lovely on-screen couple.
“ Sucks “ ? Hmmmm…..well, perhaps a little “ disappointing “.

I've always loved the description of "Charade" as "the greatest Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never directed." Just as Carol Reed's "The Third Man" was the greatest Orson Welles film that Orson Welles never directed. (Although he did appear in it -- unforgettably).
Superb film.Great performances.Brilliant.Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn .Never tire of watching it.
Suspense, humour, outstanding cast, great music, no offensive language. Some of today's film makers could learn so much.
So, you've got no problem with a bunch of murders, theft, treason, and several mentions of drugs and sexual innuendo - but Heaven forbid anybody uses profanity? You, sir, are a hypocrite. Also: great movie nonetheless.
@@R.B.564 Sorry, I should have qualified my comment by saying unnecessarily excessive profanity which I think shows a lack of effort in writing. As for all the other stuff, no problem at all. It's fiction and quaintly entertaining.
@@R.B.564 Oh shut up.
@@davidheywood9645 Oh, I tend to agree with that in most cases - but simply because a movie contains a certain amount of profanity doesn't automatically make it a lesser work of art.

The timeless epitome of intellect, elegance, acting ability, and extraordinary cinematic craftsmanship. It has never become "dated" and will stand on it's own throughout future decades.
It's lovely, but totally dated. The clothing, attitudes, etc. So dated.
I thought I knew Audrey Hepburn. I didn't. She was more lovely and a better actor than I could have ever imagined.
One of my favorite movies. What a great cast!
When two of Hollywoods biggest Icons are cast together for a film there can only be one outcome. Absolute Perfection Story telling. 10 out of 10 full of Twists!
Pick an adjective...Superb! What a great story, so many twists. And Mr. Coburn's cheesy lame-o accent notwithstanding, a perfect package of a show. Ms. Hepburn was in the prime of her career - and perfectly teamed up with a sometimes goofy, sometimes patronizing Cary Grant - either one of which was entertaining through and through. Did you know that Cary Grant took LSD psychotherapy back when it was allowed? He did. Great movie - I'll be watching again! Thanks for the upload CCC! 💖 🇨🇦
Such sweet graceful romantic comical chemistry between the lead pair..class movie & the humor level op 😂was laughing the heart out during whenever they were in a convo.

I had forgotten "Charade" is free on CZcams. My goodness, what a sublime production from everyone involved. The combination of Stanley Donen's camera setup that wonderfully catches Paris and with Henry Mancini's beautiful musical compositions exponentially enhancing both the of the stars; Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, illumination to a magnificent super nova.
At 1:31:51, when Reggie/Audrey Hepburn reacts to the realization that the stamps are worth $250,000 is as thrilling as both James Coburn and Cary Grant's performance. This cast and crew take us on a true rollercoaster ride.

@@danielgiraud1118 "Subtlety" is a very fine word to describe Audrey Hepburns essence. Yes, indeed. We call it "Feinheit" oder "Feinsinn". But it is more than that. To respect the small things, including the small differences between human beings, between one thing and another. There is a tendency in our time to be one-dimensional. Audrey Hepburn is multidimensional, and I'm sure, it is not just her part in the film. She is full of self-doubt, fear and anxiety, combined with great wishes, desires and hopes. SPOILER ALERT
The low, ominous, almost rumbling piano following Walter Matthau as he searches the theater is a masterclass in film scoring. and the sound effects of his loud echoing footsteps are chilling. Plus, the whole twist of his true identity just makes so much sense; I think it's one of the smartest twists in all of cinema. He was actually the smartest of all the men in pursuit of the money because he took the time to actually win her trust rather than antagonize her and turn her against him from the start (like the other 3 men did). This is top-tier thriller filmmaking.
