    Hi Diego so a friend had her osce exam and was given cocodamol 30/500 as the dose to be administered and the medication she had at hand was also 30/500 but when her results came it stated that she made a drug error as she gave just one tablet which makes it an under dose though the patient’s weight was more than 50 kg. Can you please clear that for me as when I read the BNF the patient can take either one or two tablets or was she suppose to code the medication as it was a bit lower for the patient in respect with the weight
    Thanks

    Thank you so much E.D, please where do we chat other drugs that are code between 1-9.
    Also do we have to read the whole drug chat out to the assessor? or just go straight to the drugs that are due at our time inorder to manage our time well?

    • @EmerDiego
      @EmerDiego  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Christiana.For codes 1-9 you only need to write the code and put your signature/initials on the appropriate box. Code 10 (others) you have to write what “other” means on last page of the drug chart.
      The instructions for this station is to read the chart and explain what you are giving and not giving and why. You need to manage your time wisely! Best of luck

    Hi Emer what will i do if
    1. I cannot give the meds in once only medication? Is it right to code it? Then write the code in the time given column and affix my signature in the signature column and then write it down to the omitted doses section?
    2. What if the PRN meds has no start date but the patient is in pain? i know its not valid so i cannot give it to the patient. But my question is, will i code it 6 and write it on the omitted dose since it is due? or will i not code it and just explain what i will do next.

    Emer hi! Any comment please for the last column, what if no tick for “pharmacy checked” and notes says amended. What does that mean? We have our exam on 8th and we’re confused. We searched your video right away to check for your ideas.

    • @EmerDiego
      @EmerDiego  Před rokem +2

      Hi Aicille, the pharmacy check section of the drug chart doesn't affect the validity of the prescription. It simply tells you whether that medication is newly prescribed- meaning that medication was prescribed during the hospitalisation, Amended - probably new dose frequency etc. Unchanged- not changed, obviously. Hopefully, that helps.
      Remember on the overview document during assessment station on the drug hx section ? - it will show you some.of the medications you are about to administer during the implementation station. Best of luck
