- This video demonstrates the Commercial Drivers License requirements for tractor trailer blind side parallel parking. Mooney CDL Training videos cover pre-trip inspection, backing and driving skills identical to what you would learn at a truck driver school.

I remember being tested on blind side parallel parking a Semi 25 years ago in Truck Driving School. I had a hard time doing it. I told the instructor “I don’t expect to be parallel parking a semi on the job”. I was correct!
25 years Truck Driving at 3 different employers I never once have needed to Parallel Park.
Idk.... i parallel parked blindside 4 times already. And its usually at rest areas.
in europe, you will do it a lot since you can open your trailer on the side (curtainsider)
I have.
Rest areas when there’s no spots
I've heard from various recruiters that stop at my school that every now and then (I think PFG goes all the time) to NYC. Lots of parallel parking.
Thank you for the video!
I retested today, after viewing this video several times, I have successfully passed my skills test and road test! I am on my way to the DMV tomorrow to pick up my Class A driver's license! Thanks!
Sharon Browner great job i failed my parallel today aaaah!
Sharon Browner. Congratulations girl i didn't pass my parallel parking
you are very beautiful....
Sharon Browner congrats
Sharon Browner o finally passed i got my cdl 3 weeks ago all that hard work i got it girl
My school had an acronym to help remember the order of the steering.

Ritchie (right)
Sings (straight)

It's funny which made it easy to remember on this and crossovers. Great video!
This would be for blind side. Do they have one for driver's side p.p.?
@@williamwebster9565 no. We just did the blind. But just reverse it I'd say
@@CountrysLife I have my CDL test in two weeks. I'm good on straight line, offset, and parallel, but I'm struggling on 90 degree alley dock. Any suggestions or recommendations?
Finally, I can shoot for the difficult parking on American Truck Simulator.
You have no idea how blindside parking is the most hardest thing I've done with my Peterbilt 379 and 53ft Utility 3000R. I literally stop. Go to Third person, then think, then jump back in. I get anxious, go back to third person, check how far I am and man its so tedious.
Never in my life did I think I have to look for real life trucking tutorials to get it done. XD
I HAVE MY CDL A TEST TOMORROW HOPEFULLY I PASS
Erik delgado and you pass?? I hope so
Tymo Spoelman I DID PASS USE A PULL UP BUT U GET 2 free
Erik delgado nice good for u
I just passed my skills test... 4th try... got blind side parallel... just shows you dont ever give up..
Way to make work! Good luck with your driving career .
Good job driver.
Watch, a year later and you'll be able to that truck ANYWHERE YOU WANT!
My plan is to go to a good driving school and pay upfront. If I fail the first time, I will go learn at Swift. I hear they give licenses to everyone.
Fantastic!
I passed my road test today. Thanks to this video it helped me out so much to figure out what I was doing wrong lol. Even thou I was going to a school for it but my instructors were lazy to say the least
Passed my CDL today 🙌 thanks for the video!
Congratulations to everyone who passed and driving trucks I will be joining y’all soon. Safe trips to my brothers and sisters
i dont even have plans to get a class a. i've never even been in a semi. this is just interesting

Class A - Any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is more than 10,000 pounds. If you have a Class A CDL, you may drive a three-wheel vehicle, but not a two-wheel motorcycle with a side car.
Class B - Any single unit vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more or any vehicle like that towing a vehicle that does not weigh more than 10,000 pounds. If you have a Class B CDL, you may drive a three-wheel vehicle, but not a two-wheel motorcycle with a side car.
Class C - Any single vehicle, or a combination of vehicles, that are not Class A or B vehicles, but can carry 16 or more people (including the driver), or have a hazmat placard. If you have a Class C CDL, you may drive a three-wheel vehicle, but not a two-wheel motorcycle with a side car.
Class D - Car
Class E - Non-commercial single unit vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) more than 26,000 pounds. Examples of Class E vehicles include trucks and motor homes (recreational vehicles/RVs).

I think your next plan is waiting for the next attack on titan episode .
I was the most dorm and Useless student in my class.I faced a lot of difficulties understanding the tractor and the trailer when backing because I had no idea about tracks before I got into CDL school.I seems to understand the theory side but always get confused when I get behind the wheel.I will back and the trailer will be at the next door of the coffee sellers lodge lol I will hit every curb I back across and Dey will re have to set all the curbs back.with the help of this video and other videos on CZcams.I became the best student.I pass my final test straight up ,my pre trip was 87% I did my offset and parallel backing one time without pulling up or dropping down my tractor to go look.I only use my mirrors passed my test without pulling up in both the Parallel backing and offset, thanks to this video.u it helped me a lot and I got my CDL a month ago.don’t give my brothers and sisters. If I was able to do it,den u can do it.
Thank you for this encouragement I failed my offset and 90 degree Saturday 3-9-24 I’m going in today and practice for retest Friday
Thanks for the encouragement, im currently taking driving classes and thats how i feel that i wont be able to do it, but your words really helped 🙏🙌
@amybailey7774 I hope u finally made it out
Well done. That was about as perfect as a blind side parallel park can get
You rookies, let me tell you this. You will never encounter a situation so perfect like this to park a rig!
Adolfo_Franco I’m no trucker and even I know that 😂
Gappie Al Kebabi I’m not an engineer yet. Trucks have fascinated me for years and that’s why I said that.
Gappie Al Kebabi I can drive model trains pretty well, thanks I guess?
So true man I sometimes struggle to park that Nissan caravan. Parallel parking is never easy. ESPECIALLY ON YOUR BLIND SIDE 🙄
@@NOVARailandWeatherEnthusiast you will find it, at the driving course to pass the test
This is actually the BEST Vid on parallel parking I had ever SEEN! and it also used so few words!
WHat 3 sentences,,,You guys Rock~!
No joke. I have such a high respect for truck drivers. The work they do is exceedingly intense.
Video is short, but very helpful and informative. Thank you very much for sharing this truck maneuvering video. Appreciated.
Parallel parking is not on the CDL test in Florida. Glad this video exists so I can see it done up close. Thanks. 👍
Had to figure this out after being on the road for some time. Similar to blind siding into docks with other trucks next to you. Lots of pull ups and some goals. ✌️
Just Perfect!! 👍 Thank you!! On a perfect time I just getting ready for my CDL license..
After 6+ years since watching trucking videos this finally shows up in my recommendations.
Sharon I swear parallel parking and offset is kicking my butt. I got straight line backing I just cant seem to master the other two skills. It's a bit discouraging I must say but I'm trying my best. this video is perfect. Congratulations to you.
Did you pass eventually?
Did you pass or move on to something new? No shame in deciding it's not for you
Looking to get my CDL A and found this to be very informative. Thank you!
Thank you. Very much. One of the Best Explained Maneuver Videos I've seen.

I did so much better after watching this video. Being able to see him turn the wheel helped a lot.
Thank you for this video. I’m having a rough time parallel parking in school
I test it 3 weeks been struggling a little with this one . im gonna try out this method tomorrow on the range 👍
Thanks for this video it was very helpful and I passed the test after I failed. This video did the trick.
Thanks again for this video I just got my cdl
Awesome video i am currently ind cdl school this helps big time.
As the owner of a logistics company, I understand the skill and time needed to get these things into their spots.. what annoys me is when the general public have an annoyed impatient look on their face while the truck driver is doing his / her job. Lovely videos!
Went through New Jersey, and you've gotta take up the whole road both ways to be able to make some of those turns in a 53 foot sleeper. Some lady rolled by and called me a jackass.
They can all starve, go homeless, run around naked, and walk whereever they need to go if they're annoyed by trucks
It's annoying but screw them. Us truckers got a job to do.
no denying this right here. I be tempted to tell them to try and get their asses in this 80,000 truck and move it themselves
Chris Mooney! The best! Thank you pal!
This is very helpful. Thank you for sharing!
Way to go Sharon!! Be a safe driver.
Thank you for making this video...it was very helpful👍👍
This video reminds me 22 years ago when I was at a truck driving school in Lexington, KY 👍
You made it look so easy 🙌
Smooooth af man. I've been driving trucks similar to yours as long as I could reach the pedals and I still can't pull it off that Smooooth
I train school bus drivers. When you do it dozens of times you get used to it lol... But nobody parallel parks these vehicles in real life
Good Job man! That was sweet! Did that like clock work!
Hardest part for me of the CDL test. My advice is when your practicing this before the actual test, try to find a place market you line up with and use that as the point to start turning. So find one point to start turning the trailer in, and then a second point to counter steer the trailer into the box. Once your in the box it's easy from there.
I actually had to do this when I took my class A CDL test. nailed it 😏
Now go drive with Swift 😆
Good job doo your best 👍 we got this

This video is Life Thank youuuuuu
Once you see it done it’s very simple I guess it’s all about backing straight and you’ll finally get it!!! Had a hard time doing it but finally was able to get it done!!!
Have done this several times over the last almost 30 years of driving. Most of the time you don't need it but you never know. Especially with parking becoming a premium nowadays.
One time as a Household Goods Mover, had to parallel park in front of the customer's house in between 2 cars with a light pole on the curbside of the trailer. The customer said if I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it!
Had to have a spotter behind the trailer because could not see the car behind me
The drone cameras offering a birds eye view being used more these days make the demonstrations very easy to follow.
Thank you for this video
That was one of my skill test I needed to do 5 years ago. I passed it on my first try🙏🏼.
had to do this today to get my CDL. It's not as difficult as it looks, but damn is it nerve racking to be graded on. I did the same maneuver on my offset, it just gave me a hell of a lot more time to straight back
offset and parallel are essentially the same thing, but one maneuver has a LOT less room to do it in.
@@paulmorley1225 had to parallel at a rest area not long ago. They at the school laughed and said we would never have to do it. Having not done it for a couple years was sketch considering it wasn't just running over cones if you f*cked up. Prob got out and checked at least 4 times. (also used to pulling doubles) 53' was a once every 6 month thing if that, so it was kind of scary. Rather take time to check and look than piss someone off by backing into their rig...
Thank you for the video getting ready to take my road test
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing 😀
Thats so satisfying to watch

Take your time watching the trailer.if you have to pull up,pull ALL THE WAY up & set up again.Take advantage of tge free pull ups to set up.Great video
really like your videos very professional
beautifully done!
Mannnn, I'm about to start my CDL school, so exciting! I'm gonna buy my mom a house as soon as I'm banking lol 😆 🌈
Thats what im trying to do with my mom. I already bought the land. Now i gotta get the house built.
Yes you will just keep going
are you going to treat your boyfriends to some nice dresses? or are you the one who wears the dress?
Im watching this because i play truck driving simulators and couldnt do this and this was very helpful for me.
I was shocked by how good I got at parallel parking the 18-wheelers of my CDL school. I went from never had even driven a stick shift car--to being able to play out manual double clutching Eaton-Fuller truck trainies like a Stradivarius violin. However, my parallel parking sucked for weeks in school, but after studying how trucks move with my die cast 1/50 scale semi-truck and trailer on my kitchen table, I was able to put those visualization into action--which at last made me an expert at parallel parking 53' foot trailers in just 2.5 minutes, where it had been taking me 15-minutes! LOL!
Just for the record, at 0:56, you stated turn the wheel clock wise. And in the video it shows him turning counter clockwise again lol. Other than that, it's a beautiful demonstration of blind side parallel parking and definitely helps my brain register what is going on from the outside for when I do this in practice.
Just had to do this maneuver on my CDL test a few days ago.. I didn't get it perfect, I got too "deep" in the box and my rear tractor tires went slightly over the boundary line. I always made the same mistake in class too.. make sure you don't wait too late to make your counter steer to avoid that mistake!
Although I was really nervous, especially on the road portion, I passed! My examiner told me I did slightly better than average on my test in general. I'll take that! Lol. Don't beat yourself up too much for hitting a cone.. you don't have to get everything perfect to pass the test!
Good to know. I thought hitting a cone is insta-fail, but I guess not!
I'd rather go too deep than not deep enough. Then at least you can pull up and get yourself in a good position to finish it.
Im sure they gave you your pull ups and get outs right?
Anyone else notice the truck is a Kenworth, but the inside clips of the driver have him turning the steering wheel of a Peterbilt.
And close to the end when he says clockwise he turns counterclockwise
@@donovanlovato2369 I noticed that too! I kelp rewinding it too make sure... I got a test in a few days so I was looking for pointers because Blind Side parallel parking is my weakness... idk to follow what he say or what he did or just find a better video lol
I’m just starting never driven truck before I can tell by watching videos and just. Learning as much as I can I could tell the rig was a kenworth the wheel has the Peterbilt logo on it haha
I PASSED my test! I messed up Every time while I was practicing! Come test time I Aced it!! This video is what helped a LOT!!
Thankfully in my stata NJ this wasn't required
I really like your videos well edited and put together ive been driving now for almost 3 years but i was wondering of sometime you could do a blindside 45° backin video?
Very good thank you very helpful
Thank you definitely gunna try this
Thanks for your advice
Just like magic - it works. 👍
Thanks for making this video my instructor making this shit hader then what it needed to be ...needless to say after watching this I got ot with no problem...I test out Monday ill let you kno when I pass...thanks again

How to Blindside Parallel Park a Trailer:
1. Move on to the next rest area/truck stop
2. Repeat until you find a spot you can pull forward into.
My car is a toyota yaris sedan and yet I'm watching how to parallel park a tractor trailer. haha
Nice. Thanks for sharing
Very impressive! 👍😍
I had to do this at C1 driver training in Fort Wayne Indiana back in 2009.
Great tip thank you
I done it a few times with a sleeper I kept getting out to look I made it in took my time ... I drive a day cab now
Excellent !
Made it look ez. Thanks.
Video: *Parks a huge truck perfectly*
Me: *fails simple reverse test*
This maneuver had me the most nervous on test day. If you're off just a little bit at any point in the procedure, shit gets all wonky and you end up crooked. Luckily I ended up busting it out perfect.
I'm doing the new 2024 modernized skills test. Reverse, offset, backing to the right with a 53 foot trailer And it has been very difficult for us students at the school I attend to get this maneuver done correctly and I'm wondering if I can use the same formula That you used on this blind side parallel parking exercise, because it seems very similar?
And can I use the 3 seconds that you count when turning left? And then stir, right to get my tractor and trailer straight at the correct angle?
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. You have great content on your videos. Very easy to understand thanks again?
Like por ser buen maestro, eres bueno en lo que haces
I've literally backed up in crazy small alleys between buildings and under store signs here in Italy with half-inch clearances on both sides. This looks easy as cheesecake
Man, shut yo ass up. You ain't done shit.
