I take the heart and clean it up pretty much the same way as you do but I don’t slice it up. I put it in a crockpot with a stick of butter and about half a jar of pickled jalapeños, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and cook it on high for about 6 to 8 hours. It comes out tender juicy and ooohhhhh so good!
I cook it in the field as my way to honor the animal…not just big game either, duck, geese ect cooked up with sliced onions, mushrooms in butter, salt, pepper…
First, thank you for using clean language in this video. My daughter (age 10) loves to watch hunting videos with me and hard to find these videos we can watch together with language appropriate for her age. Second, we both loved your video! Deer heart fajitas are our favorite and she looks forward to our first deer meal being the heart. Lastly it looked like you had the outdoor edge knife kit with fillet knife and cutting board. She got so excited to see you cut up the deer heart using the same thing we do. Thanks Cliff for all the videos and great content
Best bee hunting tutorial on YT hands down
My favorite part of the animal Cliff! Even over tenderloins. HaHa I bet some folks will call me an idiot - I could care less. Great video!
Just sat down at home after a successful hunt. Enjoying elk heart steak and eggs!
Thanks for the instructional. I was always baffled with the heart. It makes a lot of sense now
You’re the man Cliff - thanks for all the good advice and instructions.
Had deer heart last year for the first time. HOPEING for 2 more deer hearts and an elk!!!
I've never tried heart before but you have a wealth of knowledge you have shared. Packing in tomorrow for an elk hunt. If we are successful I'll give you a heads up on how we likes this
Heart is my favorite! Has a nice texture. Heart tacos for me.
Another great video. Thanks!!
Great content as usual. Thanks cliff.
Thanks Cliff, I'm 7 Days from my first solo mountain deer hunt in AZ. I saw your short about leaving the heart in the field and was hoping for this Heart Prep follow up.
Always good stuff young brother!
I love heart. Clean it as usual then dregde/season like I'm frying a chicken gizzard. Add your own dipping sauce if necessary. Those fajitas look amazing! Appreciate you, Cliff.
Good job. I do keep hearts from Whitetails. Excellent and I always eat them fresh. I haven’t tried opening like you did here but it looks sensible. After cleaning - trimming tallow - I cut sideways into discs about a half inch thick. Sizzle skillet sear RARE salt & pepper and Go. Gotta keep a Ziplock in your hunt pack to carry Hearts and Liver. Seems like every time I tossed em back in the chest cavity then dragged I never saw em again. For Moose and Elk I think your prep step is better. Thanks <>< <--------<<<<<<<
The heart is my first dinner after taking a white tail... WT liver is great too, I think it's better than beef liver- fresh and sweet.
I recommend cooking it Peruvian Anticuchos style, look up the recipe, it's great
Heart woks really well in Stroganoff.
