I've just added a chiller to my new tank, big investment but totally worth it. I've been sitting pretty at 25c for the last week!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this experiment. Love your videos brother!
For that price point I would expect an inbuilt temperature probe.....example turns fan on when water at 26 and turns off at 25.5 etc. Think I'll stick with a desktop clip on fan !
Will it work with a temp controller (? I've never had 1 I just use 2 under powered) heaters instead
I was really interested until you said 100 quid haha!!
Riiiight?!
@@ReefDorkXtra bit pricey! I understand though it may have cost them a lot in production but 100 is a little too high for my liking!
1000千港幣?😱同部水冷機價錢一樣😅
Too pricey for a tight Yorkshire man like me. Loved the video though - great watch 👍🙂
Tunze looks a nice design
I run two maxspect gyres
I wonder if they help keep the temperature down as there is a lot of surface agitation
My tank doesn’t really get that hot
Yeah, fans still work well even with a shed load of powerhead movement
My arse fell out last year, temp was hitting 27plus degrees so I fitted a DD Chiller it keeps the temp within •2 of a degree no problem
Great review! Thank you!
Would this fit on the back of the Fluval Evo 13.5, if you remove the back lid, and angle the fan down? I'm considering this fan, over an Amazon cheapo double fan, similar to your Boyu fan. Which I would just rest on the top of the back section of the evo, without the back lid on.
Yep. And I can't get the 2 fan Boyu to fit as the light bracket is in the way...
@@ReefDorkXtra I'm keeping the stock lid with light (soon to be upgraded to an AI Blade after your review) so just need a fan that cools the back section, by sitting on top or attached to the rear pane of glass. Think I'll buy the Tunze. Thank you again for always making us hobbyist aware of all these great products!
As soon as I heard tunze I was thinking three digits of cash lol
Hey question, I just bought the fan for my 120 gallon Cade system. I hooked it up but although quiet it seems like the fan output is quite weak? Idk if my fan is just not working at it’s fullest or if that is legit the strength on the fan. When you have your fan on do you notice water ripples across the water of your tank? Or is it just a gentle blow? I’d expect it to be ripping across the surface of my tank for this price.
You can see the ripples it creates in the test I setup - that's what I get on my 2 foot tank, but I think I'd want 2 on a 120g, which would be more than I'd be prepared to pay. But see how it actually performs - you might find it's still good enough to take the edge off temperature peaks.
Wondering how it would work with eurobraced tank? Could it just sit on top or would it need to be fastened in some way?
I think you'd just have to rest it on the bracing...
What would you suggest for the Fluval? Apart from get a bigger tank 😉
I haven't found one that fits in the back because my light bracket gets in the way. The Tunze does fit but that's expensive for a small tank. I'm currently using a house fan sat on the table next to the tank.
Perhaps both fans would work better and it would be a more realistic scenario with a powerhead agitating the water? Our aquariums are not still bodies of water
Try a $15 clamp fan, 100% will beat both those fans.
I have a 20g Waterbox tank with a cover . Would you think it would be easy to fit this cooler. The design seems awkward.
I think you'd either have to rest it on the cover or make a very small cutout
Can i put it on my sump instead?
Yes
Its only 77-86f in the UK.
Its 118 f in Texas today
Yeah but we don't have air con!
It's the humidity in the UK that is the difference
Most of UK homes don't have AC
How does the ph increase ?
With the fan?
Did you measure evap as a second data point?
No, it wasn't intended as a proper experiment, just an indication to supplement a few days' experience. I'll do a longer term update later
@@ReefDorkXtra It’s proper enough. Thanks for your efforts! I just asked since so many folks are looking to increase evaporation to accommodate higher kalk dosing. Could give another edge to one over tuther. Cheers!
Oh and it keeps the tank looking less cluttered
How is it with a jump guard?
Can't tell you I'm afraid.
Tunze have always been expensive. They can keep it.
