    Welcome to Orlando, Florida USA 🇺🇲 Hope you enjoy your stay! Awesome job driving in the bad weather..with so many sunny days here it stinks when you arrive in bad weather.

    Thanks guys, we are going out in 4 weeks from Edinburgh and driving for the first time, it’s really useful to see how other people get on!

      Oh nice.. Good luck! Edinburgh was nice to fly from. Definitely recommend the Aspire lounge. It was lovely. Driving was definitely easier than I thought it would be but still a pretty daunting experience.

    Great travel day. Was the Aspire lounge worth it? I am flying to MCO with Virgin from Edinburgh later this year. Never flown from Edinburgh airport! Looking forward to watching more 😍

      Edinburgh Airport is pretty good. Much smaller and quieter than Glasgow. I would highly recommend the Aspire lounge. It was fantastic and set us up nicely. We will be flying again with virgin from Edinburgh in July this year

    Fab travel day x driving can be pretty scary in the US sometimes but you did a fab job in the rain for your first time x thanks so much for sharing - we enjoyed watching x

      Ah thank you for watching, appreciated. Have to admit first time driving in US was a bit daunting and I've been driving for 27 years lol The weather was unbelievable. Couldn't see a thing. Thankfully the traffic all slowed to a crawl. I think it definitely helped that we had drove an automatic before. Once you get used to the car, driving is simple enough. Most roads to Disney and Universal Drive can be pretty crazy. We took a sat nav, so that helped 80% of the time. Occasionally it went a little haywire. By the next day driving had become much easier. I'll definitely do it again. Plus booking with Alamo was a very smooth experience, plenty of car choice too. I'm hoping people doing what we did can use this as a guide to help, especially for 1st timers. Amazingly over 3 weeks we only spent $90 on fuel. Much less than we would spend at home.

    Been looking forward to this one - Lived in Orlando for 15 years then moved back in 2020 to marry my childhood sweetheart. Do not miss Florida one bit as a resident, but do enjoy seeing all the tourist stuff from there. Went back earlier this year for a few days to hang out with my son and had a blast at Universal. Good to see some old haunts sir. Now...back to gaming :D

      Amazing.. not sure I'd want to live there permanently. Its always been a fanciful dream in some ways to do so but think I'd miss home too much. Plus that constant humidity.. lol yes.. back to gaming!

    Driving in Orlando in a thunderstorm can be interesting. Good job for your first try. The lightning there can be brutal.

      @CrazyBurger  Před 11 měsíci

      We certainly seen a fair few scary thunderstorms.. the lighting was ferocious.. thankfully we only ever got caught in a downpour whilst driving twice. The second time was super brief. In and out of a passing shower in 20 seconds lol 😆

    Most people do what you did and go long way around for hire car...after monorail turn left .B. down to ground floor car desk right in front of you

    Great video. We are looking to fly from Edinburgh next year. How far in advance did you book your flight?

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks.. generally you would book about a year in advance. Not sure if Virgin are still doing it next year from Edinburgh. We've not seen any flights yet. Options for us are flying from Aer Lingus Manchester or BA Gatwick. Still looking. Ideally going direct from Glasgow or Edinburgh is best but not always possible. Annoyingly it's more expensive. I would recommend Aer Lingus from Manchester. That was a great experience. Just hard driving home again.

      @@CrazyBurger Virgin are still flying next year. We booked back in Feb this year for July 2024 as we have booked a Fly Drive so it's classed as a holiday so were able to book well in advance of just a flight booking, which is generally 9 months.
      Car hire through Virgin has been Alamo and it's great to be able to pick your car. One tip for next time if it's Alamo is go down the line of cars and look at mileage rather than picking the first of what you think you want to drive. We have always had mini vans, and have had ones with 12 miles before. Next year Virgin have changed contracts to Hertz, so it's into the unknown for us but I am sure it will be fine.
      How did you find the whole Visitor Toll pass system? I haven't ever used it before as we generally on go on tolls to and from the airport, but we are heading to the coast a couple of times and need to sort that out. Hertz own system that you can use has a daily charge which I thought was a bit cheeky

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@robertmacgregor3012 Interesting.. we found some virgin flights last night but the price was ridiculous.. we might be going via Gatwick next year. Toll pass was very easy to sort. Was only about $14 dollars for the pass including tolls we passed through. Certainly far cheaper than I thought. Fuel was cheap as well, only filled up 3 times over 3 weeks.

    Great job driving! You had to deal with a huge car, an automatic, driving on the other side of the road, and horrible weather. Very stressful, but very impressive the first time.

      A Ford Edge is a huge car? Try a Chevrolet Suburban

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  Před 11 měsíci

      @@casmatori We went for a car big enough to take 5 suit cases. The Edge is a surprisingly large car. It's certainly far wider than the car we drive at home.. which is a 7 seater.. though I'm well aware that by US standards its actually a pretty small car. Ideally we would've went for the Chrevolet Mini Van. But the prices are about 3 times as much to rent.

    • @casmatori
      @casmatori Před 11 měsíci

      @@CrazyBurger Chevrolet don't make a minivan. They haven't since about 2008. I saw in the row you had to choose from there was a Ford Explorer also, which is slightly bigger than a Ford Edge - which would have been a better choice.

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  Před 11 měsíci

      The Edge done the trick for us. The explorer is larger. We just needed something big enough.

      @CrazyBurger  Před 11 měsíci

      Car hire with Alamo, our stay was for 20 days. Costs for the Edge or other SUV was around $800. Ideally book as early as possible. The prices kept going up the closer we got to the trip. Mini Vans seemed to be a lot more expensive. SUV are 5 seater, mini van possibly 7 or more.

      @@victoriaholland3104 We did it through Andy at Discount car hire. Best thing was he sorts out everything you need, even sent us a sat nav to use.
      andy@discountfloridacarhire.co.uk
      You can do it direct also but he can usually help get it a little cheaper. Highly recommended. Only thing you need to do when you get there is the sun pass for the tolls. Fuel over 20 days was only about $100 max. And we drove a lot! Coast to coast.
