      @@briarfox637 Think of it this way. Any bike with enough power to handle highway speeds will have a lot of power in low gears at low speeds. The Scout is no different. However, it is geared with a very high torque curve. That means that down around 2,000 RPM, it is surprisingly gentle and accessible. Even a Honda Rebel 300 has lots of power in 1st gear. It just can't do as much on the highway.

    Having owned a Sportster, and ridden a Scout 60: there's no contest. The Scout 60 is *vastly* superior. It's a very nice looking ride too, and I've found they get *more* "cool bike" looks than sportsters do. This is because they get "Ooooh, an Indian!", whereas Sportsters tend to be looked down on by most Harley Bros "It's not a real bike."
    The only thing the Sportster has is it's "really old shitty tech" shakiness and HD badge, if that's your thing. But by every measure, the Scout is simply a measurably better bike.

    The scout is a good bike. Super smooth and a lot of down low power. It reminds me of a well tuned, cammed sportster 1200 minus the vibration and with lighter steering. The vibration on a 2004 and later 1200 (they finally, in 2004 rubber mounted the engine) isn't so bad going down the road and you kind of miss it at a light. The harely isnt the worst thing in the world for reliability, its old school and you can do literally anything with basic tools on one. Im not really convinced Polaris is able to make a more reliable bike for that matter. Its kind of like down you want an American bike or a Canadian bike using a dead American bike companies name.

    Jokes and offended people aside, Indian does not have a “Club Style” geometry bike. Other popular variations on the cruiser theme are represented. But no Lowrider/Dyna/FXR type bike at all. So, they are focused on the baggers and the sportsters (the forward controls variety). In my opinion, they go for the casual/new Harley potential customer. The tracker concept is their best contribution to the market.

      Sportster 1200
      0.26 hp/kg at peak rpm
      Scout
      0.32 hp/kg at peak level
      Scout makes 23% more power to the wheels at peak rpm, which is to be considered in two ways:
      - Who anyways rides a bike at the edge of the red line always on public roads?
      - At a streetable speed (60-80 km/h) or rpm of 3000, the Sportster makes 0.1277 hp/kg, whilst the Scout makes 0.1204 hp/kg. In other words, for street use, a Sportster is more convenient due to the fact the Scout will always need more revs to operate optimally. There's no need to previously have figured out that out since the Scout engine has a wider bore and shorter stroke than the Evo.

    • @icebrakernh
      @icebrakernh Před 3 lety

      @@omarsalgado9715 truth is you can keep the scout in lower rpm ranges and still cruise it doesn't need to be kept high in the rpm range. One thing Indians can brag about is their engines you can lug as the pull with conviction.

    • @omarsalgado9715
      @omarsalgado9715 Před 3 lety

      @@icebrakernh You can do the same with a R1. Truth is that the more the hp sits high in the rpm range, the less responsive it is in the low end. It's physics.

      @Erased Loser -- So, you're saying that it is not designed for actually going anywhere other than around your neighborhood? I've driven across country on a bike that only got 100 miles before it hit reserve (and the "reserve" was VERY small). This was also back in the day when gas stations even along the interstate highways were not open all night... Sleeping at the gas station in front of the pump so that you can refuel the next morning loses a bit of it's glamour after awhile... :) A 5g tank is the absolute minimum that I would accept on a bike and having an extra 5g auxiliary tank would be even better for long rides...
