That, and maybe this is an odd comparison, but it is a bit like Rocky VI, it's not so much about the victories, but about still being able. His comeback alone brought me to tears back then. That single point he got was worth a million. Personally i also love when new guys finally get their succes. When Gasley, Perez, Ocon won, and Ricciardo again this year....it gave me the feeling that Max and Lewis may have lost, but the sport itself wins.

Williams could have been in a waaaay better position nowadays if it weren't for Maldonado and Senna losing so many points in 2012. They threw away so many points in Australia (5th place), Malaysia, Bahrain (double DNF), Spain (Schumi crash), Monaco, Valencia (crash), Belgium (jump start), Brazil (double crash)...
Finished 8th in constructors but could have easily been 5th in front of Mercedes... This pretty much sealed their faith for the next decade. They lost out on so much money.

For now he joins the infuriatingly long list of french drivers who only scored one win. Beltoise, Cevert, Panis, Alesi, Gasly and now Ocon. Let's see if either Gasly or Ocon can break the curse. Although they would then join an almost equally long list of french drivers with two wins...

Maldonado is not a one season wonder. Guy took a below average williams car to consistent top q3s whereas his teammate bruno senna kept getting knocked out in q1

Great qualifying performances don't mean anything if you constantly crash out during races... Williams lost too many points in 2012 due to both drivers crashing out too much. Australia, Bahrain, Europe, Monaco, Brazil... All while challenging for great point scoring finishes.

If anyone watches Josh Revell's video on him, you will soon understand that he is not quite the slow driver as many thought.
It's just his high tendency to put his car into the barrier, his incosistency and inabilty to supress his anger that really paints his career in a bad, jokingly way.
Spain 2012 really shows us what happens if he decided to keep his composure down and wins the race.
