This is a great video, I would've definitely appreciated watching it when I first came to Cardiff in 2017! :) As I was watching it, I was thinking about the big Tesco near Taly as a huge advantage and hoping you'd mention it, and then you did right at the end haha. Also 100% agree about Bute Park, it's the best thing in Cardiff IMO. Wish I lived so close to it too!

this is so helpful as someone who doesn't know too much about Cardiff. I got into the school of law and politics, and am considering doing my law degree here. As an international student, it will actually be a bit cheaper to study here than in my country in the long run. However, it's a LOT of money upfront as opposed to "smaller" increments of money of like 8 years.
Did you do any politics modules? how was it, I'm thinking of applying for history and politics

I received an offer from Cardiff university, and I would like to go to it, but I'm worried about the way this university teaches and what rules does it have, like is it really difficult to study there (from general perspective like are the staff helping you when you ask for them)? Are the prof. and tutors academically helpful? Especially the disability service (I'm mentally disabled with ELD and learning difficulty), are they also supportive? One final thing, is the university crucial with their teachings? Like if I did one simple mistake by accident will I be expelled?

Hey, Thank you for the great video. I am planning to join cardiff university for masters in mechanical engineering in sept 2020. I wanted to ask that, do you know any good apartments (single or shared) in walking distance to the university and how much do they cost?
The most common living situations (other than university accommodation) is shared housing. Students normally live in an area called Cathays, but there is plenty of other options around Cardiff from private student halls or renting a flat. There is a facebook page called 'Overhead at Cardiff University' people sometimes post looking for flat/ house mates on there. Sorry I can be of anymore help!

Hi James, glad you found the video helpful! I would say make sure you take time with your personal statement and show you have a good understanding of what physiotherapy consists of and the core values of the NHS and how you have shown these in you life. With interviews, don't panic and take time to think about your answers before saying them - remember the interviewer isn't trying to catch you out. In group interviews SPEAK UP and try to actively involve others in discussion rather than staying silent or hogging conversation.

Hi Biraj, I’m glad I could help! I also had offers from Southampton and UEA, I decided to go with Cardiff because of the NHS bursary so I don’t have to pay any tuition fees, also because I loves the city centre and I knew they had a good netball club and lots of sporting opportunities which I’m really interested in x

Biraj well it totally depends on the course, if it’s a healthcare degree like me then the walk to the hospital is at least 25 min depending on your speed and there isn’t a bus. Also with Cardiff the physio degree is one of the more difficult compared to other unis but it’s worth it because of the degree at the end! Also depending on your accommodation it can be a bit grim if you go for the cheap one but that’s part of uni life!

Biraj mainly the old talybont north accommodation like the one I was in and the talybont south wetrooms aren’t the best but personally I didn’t mind, just depends on your expectations etc
May be a weird question to ask but I’m also from London and have an offer from Cardiff. London as you probably already know is majorly diverse. Would you say Cardiff university is diverse in terms of students?
Hey Esra, I definitely think Cardiff is a lot less diverse but that’s not to say it isn’t at all. Considering growing up in the enormous diversity of London, coming to Cardiff there seems to be much less however people from other areas might consider there to me a greater amount of diversity if you see what I mean?
Hiii I’m from Cardiff, lived here all my life. I would say Cardiff Uni and Cardiff as a city is definitely diverse, but due to Wales being a tiny country with a tiny population, it’s probably less diverse than London 😋

Hi, thanks for your comment. I'm really sorry but I don't know much about this course. I'd recommend looking on the Cardiff uni website course page as they often give good details about entry requirements. The general advice I would give is when applying make sure you show how passionate you are about the degree you want to study, and how have you shown this passion in your life? You could talk about this in interview or personal statement. Also if you have to interview (or you're only applying to Cardiff), look into what makes the Cardiff course different to other courses and what do you like about that? I hope this helps and let me know if there's any other way I can help :)

Hi, I did Biology, PE and Food technology. I think most universities ask for biology, some will accept human biology or PE in place of biology.
Hey thanks for the great video , I was just wondering about how high on the priority list for the 10 options you put down for housing, taly North was and what it's like for other people as I have put all the talybont options 1,2,3 and 4 and whether it is likely I won't get one of those?
Hi Coos, with the NHS bursery I got with my course I was only granted a very small loan (smaller than the minimum), so I put talybont north as my first option. I’m pretty sure no one else in my flat put it first, many people put Talybont gate or court first and got given talybont south instead and some people got talybont south first and got talybont North. It is likely you will get one of your top 4/5 options depending on how popular they are, I hope this helps! x

Hiya, it's a really great course. I'm going to do another video on physio specifically soon so keep a look out for that. If you mean for A-Level grades, I got A*A*A but I think the requirements are AAB.

Hi! Takes around 3hrs 20 - 4hrs by coach from London to cardiff
Four hours. National express stops outside the uni.

Hello ma'am I hope you are doing well , I have done master of physiotherapy in neurology from india , I have no clinical experience and I am willing to be physio in UK,
And I have two options either enroll in msc course in uk university then after that go for HCPC and NHS interview it will be easier or I have to start HCPC registration process, plz suggest which one is better way to get job in UK
Hi, probably best to do some study in the uk if you have no clinical experience, so the master course sounds appropriate for you prior to starting work in the nhs.

Hi, I think that physiotherapy as a whole is a tough course to get on to. All the university’s I applied to were Russel group so I don’t have much experience to compare with. I expect majority if not all university’s will interview and they should have details on their websites. I hope this helped!

Hi, with my degree I found I didn't have much time for a job in my first year. Second year I signed up to the student union job shop where they send out regular emails offering work. I got a job working as a netball umpire for the IMG league (this is out internal university league).

Hi Tuhin Rashid, you get given a bit of paper explaining how to get on but basically there’s a network called eduroam which covers the accommodation and the university buildings and you just use your university log in to get on it :)

I'm planning to do physiotherapy in Cardiff! If you have any physio specific pros and cons or even just advice for the interview that would be so appreciated. Oh also my name is Lucy (with a y though) so seems like we have a few things in common. 😂
Hi Lucy! Great to hear your applying for physio! I'm going to try and do a physio specific video some point soon so look out for that. just incase I don't get round to it before your interview my tips would be -
- Be relaxed and try to let your friendly chatty side show
- Research around the HCPC and CSP and mention them if you can (just who they are/ what they do etc)
- Make sure you know a detail about why you want to go to CARDIFF specifically
- Maybe mention that your interested in the Research side (as Cardiff is Russle group so research based uni)
- Have a good understanding of core values (Compassion etc)
- Understand the different areas to physio (NOT JUST MSK/SPORT!). Physios work in MSK, Neuro, CVR mainly but other areas too like paediatrics, amputees, oncology
I hope this helps and good luck - most of all don't stress, they aren't trying to catch you out just smile and be friendly as that's such an important part of physio! x

Hi, so my understanding is that Cardiff met and Cardiff are two completely independent unis both based in Cardiff. Cardiff met is not a Russel group uni so has less research funding but offers a range of degrees different to the ones Cardiff offers as well as some the same, they also have a good reputation at sports and a range of sports degrees. Cardiff met is also a smaller university and less spread around Cardiff. So I would say it totally depends on what you want to study as to which you'd choose. Hope this helps :)

@@randomcookiegaming414 I'm not an expert but I would say that depends on what degree you are doing and the job your applying for. Cardiff uni is Russel group so may carry more or a name for itself but I would really say it depends what your doing. I think it may also have higher entry requirements for a few courses too which might be seen as a preference.

Hi Liam SC, so the Welsh NHS offer to pay for you’re tuition fees, this does mean that you get a smaller maintenance loan if your from England. They also provide an income based bursary which for most people is about 1000 a year but it’s something to look into.

I'm not sure about how valid a UK degree will be in the US, I think it will be recognised but that's not something I'm certain of. Cardiff is currently ranked 26th overall by the complete university guide but you should consider your degree choice, for example Cardiff is ranked 4th for physiotherapy. It is also a Russel group university meaning it is renowned for its quality of research, there are only 24 universities in the UK that are part of the Russel group.
