    I’m using Taunter’s to learn PvP, with the slightly more organic feeling than arena duels. I try to progress the level like I accidentally stayed embered after a boss in DS3. I never use rune arc, even offline. I don’t heal unless my invader heals first. Usually I get my ass handed to me, sometimes I win and it feels great and sometimes my invader runs into the PVE to try to cheese me. I guess I invited it, but still…

      There not trying to cheese u really that's y if u have TT on just summon a random to play the level and fight invaders with u a invaders best tool is environment knowing environment and mobs to help agro when fighting multiple people it's all crazy kotic fun

    This is one of the best video focusing on PvP issues, not only focus on fixing hyper armour or passive poise. The big issue for this game are 6 players limit + tounters tongue mechanic + ping filter.

    Well done, brother. I think a ping filter would be optimal.
    Secondly I played this game with an associate who is new to the series and he presses L2 with the fallingstar beast claw because it staggered EVERYTHING to death. Your mentioning of L2 being strong is not biased it's true.

      We will never get a filter cuz it would limit the matchmaking on the playerbase which is already split between many level brackets. Unfortunately.

      @@wazoneg8049 I use an online runecount to level converter and anytime a phantom dies, i look at the amount of runes dropped by them, then put it in the converter. That's how i do it

      @@wazoneg8049 you can tell by how many runes they drop when killed. the ammount of runes in always a set percent of the level of the player, so you can calculate it from that

    I know a lot of casuals will think the extra cost of blue is a hot take, but I agree that L2 is too much. There are some invasions where the 3-man gank squad only hit L2 and no other button. Just insane. But anyways, awesome video and great gameplay! My favorite type of video!

      The cost of blue is balanced around being used for PvE. PvP is and will always be the secondary concern if these games. It doesn't take a casual to understand this.

      @@oysterlad That is implicitly understood but there is a separation of nerfs and buffs in regards to pvp and pve. That has already been the case with last few patches. So the cost of more blue isn't unreasonable.

      L2 is too spammable in PvE too, especially considering you get free blue flasks simply by killing mobs.
      Spam L2 -> mobs die -> replenish flasks -> repeat.

    Ive just started to practice more pvp in Elden and came across yr colossal great sword bleed video before. really interesting I thought! but this video really showcases your knowledge on pvp in from soft games for years and shows how much you care! Nice one mate! I was turned off invasions because of the gank squads and im back now just learning how to duel.

    I really liked the ds2 system where you'd be invaded all the time except if you burned a human effigy at a bonfire to block invaders. It'll both get us solo host invasions and people who don't want pvp can have their way but it'll cost em. It'd be nice if solo host invasions happen in ER all the time except for when someone sacrifices a rune arc at a grace.

      Literally every other Souls multiplayer system is better than ER's, it's clear. So it either changes with the DLC or the game just truly collapses into what many people already treat it as: Skyrim Souls.

      Yeah, I went into the comments to mention specifically this! I suppose someone would try to argue it's unnatural and disrupts play when an invader appears, as if the NPC invaders don't do that themselves...!

    Such a good video. I’m a relatively new invader and do enjoy the experience but can resonate with a lot of what you said here. Particularly getting thrown into 3 man gank squads from the get go. Real baptism of fire, and not at all the experience I’m hoping for.

    It would be cool to see in pvp DLC:
    1. 6 online players & covenants (3 + 1 hunter + 2 invaders)
    2. mount pvp
    3. spirit summons in invasions
    4. more arenas and pvp modes (5 vs 5 siege battles, maybe?)
    5. L2 spamming punishment like in Bloodhound step taking more fp and reducing distance (for every spam double the fp consumption)

    I literally have 2 spawns that when i spawn in im stuck and cant move from the corner 1 spot out side the classroom in raya lucaria and 1 in a calid catacomb

    Couldn’t agree more on the l2 problem, gankers don’t even fight anymore they just spam l2 which can be overwhelming and when there are 3 of them all just spamming then it is most likely game over

    I agree with most of your points, but as a solo player (most of the time), I would really like solo invasions because getting invaded is a lot of fun.

      I just think solo invasions need to be organic, not expected.
      One of the reasons I never play through this game anymore is because solo invasions cannot happen randomly anymore and it takes the tension away.

    This is a little off topic but I think what would really help with invasions and/or colosseums is patch the wiggle technology. It’s making invasions or duels unfair in my opinion because you would have a hard time hitting the opponent and it makes it much easier to pull off a backstab

    These are great sugestions that would improve the game i feel. For fogwall, I would prefer that reds can just enter the fogwall as well, and disrupt bossfights that way, or that fogwalls arent enterable when an invader is present. Putting the taunter function on rune arc is a great, but I would also add that any of the dungeons are solo invadable. Maybe not high on the priority que. Dungeons have wanted items and i think youll always find people there.
    The only thing i am not so sure about is increasing the fp cost: I think certain ashes of war have a good FP to effect ratio, ohters not and yeah all on board of fixing that. THat being said, i feel it wouldnt work, because people would just change the builds and strats in order to keep spamming. I mean people even spam things they really shouldnt, I dont think they would stop.

      If they were to change their build to keep spamming, the extra investment in mind is gonna impact them elsewhere - vigour or damage. That’s balance.

      It seems this way, but i am very sure that it is not. People shouldnt spam most things they are spamming nowadays, if you want to be tactical. Youd think they get the tactical insight once you balance the fp a bit? I think your opinion of people is way to high. Its like panick rolling, there is a knee jerk mechanism and no matter what you do, there will be those that will mindlessly spam the spam

    all of these points are very valid. but i think we should also add a cooldown to ashes of war on top of the increased fp cost. the cooldown is necessary because it would fully eliminate the spam, and counter the overleveled phantoms who would level a little more mind to neutralize the increased fp cost. the cooldown would be around 3 to 5 seconds. those are my thoughts.

    Also magic users spamming there little baby glintstone pew pews that for some reason everyone literally everyone uses. Everyone just wanna shoot a couple of those or a comet or whatever that big one is that is way too fast casting and hard hitting. I’d raise the amount of stamina used when using AoW or magic instead of raising the FP. That will deal with spamming.

    Thank you for being the only CZcamsr to say that solo host invades are useful and worthwhile. I was under the impression all elden ring pvp CZcamsrs were invader gigachads that only find enjoyment in juggling L2 spam gank squads.

    What I think would be awesome if if they upped the player limit, and let 2 players que into an invasion together, honestly I think it’d keep the game fresh and it would introduce a bunch of people into PvP

    I want lobbies for the arena so that it's easier to make different matches with 2v2/3v3 etc, also maybe the choice to open level brackets to get more players if necessary (if queueing is taking too long) - a proper ranked duel mode would be great, other game modes like capture the flag/battleroyal/horde etc would also be really popular I think, just look at any other popular multiplayer games and what game modes are popular..
    I love the combat of this game more than any other, so do all of my friends, but they don't play the online much because of the poor connection/queueing and lack of game modes - I feel like so many more people would play this game if there was a genuine multiplayer element, like a standalone thing maybe - current arena seems very much like a small afterthought..

    Solo invasions, blocking invasions and covenants are actually my only dream for pvp in Elden Ring. This would help everyone to adjust the options to its own preferences. If you are focused on pve with summon cooperator and have no other options for fighting the invader as L2 spam - just block the invasions, if you want to fight - set the amount of players equally to avoid the ganking, which is pointless. Hope we will see some changes soon.

    Covenants need to happen. It's a shame when you look at some of the cut content and see inklings of them like the Redeemers that just never made the cut.
    Upping the multiplayer limit is the bare minimum From would have to do to give ER pvp legs for years. But it needs to be facilitated with covenants. PVP incentives aside, those glorious and chaotic 3v3s, 2v4s, 2v2s, ect. at gank city, or those consistent and organised fight clubs in Pontiff's backyard or the Watchdog's swamp are only possible thanks to covenants like Aldrich Faithfuls and Watchdogs of Farron.

      yup and it’s probably the most triggering thing to me in an invasion. 3v1 aren’t easy, well at least for baby invaders like me, so when you kill a blue or phantom then you see the host turn the tongue it’s like wtf really?
      these coward host know if another invader comes in, they definitely can’t keep up so they do bullshit like turn the tongue off smh

    I think one thing you forgot in this video is that idea that the expansion needs a gank city. A place where all the tryhards and gankers can go to have an all out war like in DS3.

    I think it's better that successful invasions don't get a bigger reward. Imagine, just purely hypothetically, if the reward was 500k runes and 10 rune arcs. Then every invader would be twinked out, and everyone would invade all the time because the cost-benefit ratio would be so far in the green. Co-op PvE would just die out. I'm illustrating the point with an absurdly big reward to underline the idea: there's a point in making the reward as small as possible. That way players are incentivized to invade exclusively for fun and not for loot. This is extremely important.

    3v3 would be better. There is no reason it should be a 1v2 in default. And 2v2 is too eh.
    If you’re rune arc’d you should be able to get ONE invader, 2 with taunted tongue.
    If you’re co-op? 2 invaders max.
    If you’re playing solo with way of blue? 2 invaders.
    If you’re playing way of blue AND co-op? 3 invaders

    So my idea is that anybody connected to online play should be automatically put into the invasion queue without using an item to go online. A bit confusing, but let me explain. They should change the going online item to only be used when you want to summon people. But you should always be able to be invaded no matter what. Then you will get more invasions where people are trying to progress in levels. This would also make blues actually useful and not just a way to enhance ganks like it is now. Because I’ve watched a lot of people who refuse to go online online while they play. Invasions should be an integral part of the game. Even if that means you’d get more solo hosts. And that might be boring for people that are really experienced. It would also help host learn PVP much earlier than when they actually decide they want to get into it. It would also be nice to have covenants again like in the past games. Allowing you after a certain amount of kills to get a new weapon or spell. I know my next point might not be a popular opinion, but I think that we should buff invaders. If the majority of people are just going to gang, then you’re gonna need some extra power to deal with a 3v1. I can’t quite tell you if it would be better to increase the damage or increase the invaders health by 100%

    The worst part; this really only applies to like what, 5-15% of players? I solo and play taunters tongue when I try out different playthroughs, but that’s because I miss the DS3 invasions in all the areas. I BARELY deal with invaders. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Or right? But I’m trying to play through the game and and hoping to fight another human.

    The reason fogwalls are so rampant in this game is because you can't invade a solo host under normal means. A lot of regular players only summon phantoms in front of a boss door, so when you invade them you're getting sent back immediately. Just a result of Miyazaki's shortsighted pandering to casuals.
    Absolutely agree with allowing us to blacklist areas we don't like from our invasion searches. Actually an idea I thought up a while ago myself.

    Sadly is true pvp is getting boring I miss those covenant from ds3 where good especially the spear lance that make you a boss on the dlc ring city.the majority of host and solo stand in one place with over level phantom and 400 blues,1 time I have to fight 6 god damn players host 1 phantom and 4 blues I was like wtf is this my opinion is pvp is gonna die is they no fix that because is fucking boring do the same invasion on every host same stupid thing just waiting to spam shit on one place....I agreed with you

    The tt talk was predictable and it still sorta triggered me lol Just today I fought this lower level host who crutched on his latency greatsword ha, while also getting healed by an abnormal amount of message appraisals... and it legit made me go ballistic. We're talking vyke's into stormhawk kind of ballistic. Dude also waved at me when I put some distance from the grace, so I wonder if he thought I enjoyed fighting him five times in like 45min. This game dude... sigh Something has to change in the dlc.

    This game literally focuses on helping bad players beat better players. 4 player max isn’t the only problem. Players are far more reliant on L2 spam and spell spam. Not to mention bad overlevelled phantom downscaling, bad spawns, rune arcs for hosts, among many other issues favoring bad players. Being the better player/invader trying to enjoy a mechanic in the game they purposely make harder on you while favoring Little Timmy is a form of discrimination, just like they’re doing in MW3 matchmaking. There’s no way this isn’t intentional. They cashed out on their “final” souls games. Honest opinion.

      Go touch some fucking grass.
      DS3 had spamable attacks. DS3 had embered hosts by default. Ganks still existed. It was tilted heavily to the favor the hosts because of fucking course. When you invade you're not the main character.

      You are making a lot of assumptions with nothing to work. They didn’t expect the game to pop off like it. Don’t let the stuff blind you, if they were like that, they would have removed invasions and kept CooP. There is no reason to keep invasions that would financially benefit them. Calm your butt down.

      @@Shinn_NB Not really. There’s other ways to balance CooP than invaders. Better Phantom scaling, decreasing posture/stagger rates on enemies, higher hp, more enemies, increase resistances of all status. There plenty of ways to do this. And without having to work on PvP they spend their time and resources on that. So, you’re dumb narrative that From NEEDS invaders is top tier delusional nonsense. Accept it.

    In regards to taunters tongue im not sure how I am supposed to use it to make me, and invaders both happy. Look at it from the side of a host like me. The actual levels themselves are known to me, I know where enemies are, and I know how to fight them. If I summon a gold to "help" then the journey to the boss is literally a snooze fest. Too easy, and no challenge in any way. So I use taunters tongue WITH blue turned on, Thinking in my mind. "ok i'll get invaded while going through a level, and it will be a race to see if I can defeat them, or if a blue comes in before they can kill me ect." But invaders hate this. They don't like invading a solo host. Even though im technically going through a level normally. I don't really blame them either. Normally invaders are way better at pvp so hosts need a gold to even the playing field. I wouldnt really be an exception either since im not a pvp god like some of these youtubers.... which is why I keep blue on so I might get some help. If I summon going through the level its too easy and boring for me, but if I tongue, invaders don't like it and might wipe the floor with me before a blue shows up. How do you get a win win for both sides?

    Hmm… drunk is just stating his opinion, nothing cringe about that. I agree with a lot of this, but some of it I don’t. I think from will do at least something. Funny thing is, INVITING an invader is the antithesis of an INVASION lol. I liked having to use an ember in ds3. There definitely needs to be a reason, reward, and or motivation to PvP as well. I haven’t played ds2, but a lot of players say it was the best PvP. All subjective and matters of opinion. Remember, it’s a game and should be fun!

    Regarding L2s. Nerf the hell out of them. We don't need "super moves" in ER pvp, this isn't Dragon Ball Budokai. Massive damage reduction on pvp is all you really need to do. And it's the simplest and easiest solution to implement too. Then you don't have to worry about knock-on and balancing side-effects to pve. Increasing FP cost would just be a bonus since it would also train players form the start not to solely depend on these gimmicks (although it's too late for that now). increase the stamina cost too so you can't spam it.
    Incidentally, now all these AoWs that true combo don't have to practically end you in what could be considered a 1-shot in all technicality. Although this is a separate issue that From should just address as well; having a panoply of AoWs and weapon arts that can true combo is not good for the game, and not good for pvp, and not good for balancing.
    Weapon Arts/AoWs should feel like weapon skills in Dark Souls 3. They're practically just another move in a range of movesets you'd use to mix things up or throw out to surprise your opponent, instead of a crutch and that easy "I win" button solution that just lowers the pvp skill ceiling in ER (for all players, invaders included).
    While we're at it, lets nerf the hell out of bleed procs as well so players need to work a little harder to get that damage bonus instead of needing only 1 jump attack with powerstancing weapons. Nerf the build-up and nerf the damage. It should be a nice bit of extra damage you get as a bonus after a reasonable time. "Oh that's nice, that's like an extra free hit in". And not "R1, R1 - bleed proc, 90% health gone, red bar turns to yellow in an instant aaaaaaand gone! Ha ha, T-bag. Skill issue, git gud!"

    I want solo invasions because i want to be invaded without having to shoot my leg making an invader come every five seconds. I want an invader thrown into the mix while i explore the level without getting overwhelming

    I watched this girl beat the game spamming L2 on the BH fang she did not use R1 once I couldn’t believe it. Some times I really hate this game and what it’s done to the community cuz now all I see is steamers on every platform playing all from games like they just came out. The only reason they play them is for views I’ve been a fan since DS3 first came out and I miss it being unpopular.

    Honestly it’s disheartening and incredibly frustrating to look at Elden Ring pvp for what it could’ve been. I’ve been playing the soulsborne series pvp ever since dark souls 1 on xbox 360, making new builds and invade for the satisfaction of it. Now these days I just make builds on Elden Ring and not even wanting to invade because of its issues, as well as the feeling that theres something missing (and as Drunk said, its basically that systematically). To me, I just see the Pvp issue as akin to Bloodborne’s Pvp, systematically and its decline, where co-op basically dictated invasions and as time goes on it just shrivels up. Yes I am aware of the two active solo invasion spots in the frontier and the nightmare of mensis, but I am not sure how active they are, especially the rest of the game outside of them.
    In a nutshell, the Pvp is basically a disappointment for anyone who expected the game to do better in the series and frankly I wish they fix it.

    I played ds3 today. It was so easy. The pvp and gameplay was dog shit compared to ER. So my point is 6yrs of ds3 , ER will have a long life.

    Cheesing invaders with taunters tongue is a blessed thing. They are hindering the invaders from hindering another player wanting to progress the game. It's a beautiful thing lol.
    Invaders want to be a pain in the ass to someone, someone should be the pain the in ass for invaders. Fair play. If an invader wants to troll players wanting, then trolling invaders should be fine too.
    Don't hate the players, hate the game, and that goes for both ways.

    Fromsoft has been removing features from pvp because thats not what they want the game to revolve around. We keep acting like this is some sort of competitive game that needs balancing or re-works to the systems that are literally side content. I want invasions to be better just as much as the next invader but holy shit man we just need to move on already. Hopefully the dlc brings good change but lets not hold our breath.

Or else fromsoft would have made dedicated pvp. The community had to go out of their way to make pvp fun. Its been almost 2 years, fromsoft had every opportunity to make good changes to invasions but this is the game they wanted to make and im sorry you cant get over that. Im tired of discussing this with people FOR TWO YEARS. We've been saying the same thing over and over FOR TWO YEARS. Its time to move on.

      You act like the majority of people are dedicating their lives to "malding" online over a "PvE" games PvP, when commenting about this stuff takes maybe a minute out of peoples lives at most, and has achieved results many times.
      Like it or not the "side-content" that is Invasions and pvp is every soulsbornes endgame, and if it wern't something fromsoft wanted to dedicate resources to they would've stopped including it by now. And obviously it has enough of a following to warrent its continued inclusion since it has lasted around 6 seperate videogames across 10+ years. And as long as it's here, the people who like it are going to ask it to be improved. And it's worked, to an extent. I doubt the bigger things like covenants and player limit changes will happen to Elden Ring now unless the DLC is awesome, but there's always next game.
