HANDSKIT 830LN CHEAP-O Multimeter Review & Teardown!

- HANDSKIT needs to improve this green CHEAP-O. Unfortunately, good accuracy just isn't enough to keep the 830LN out of the dog house. A disappointing 1.5 Stars.

I got it included in a soldering kit. The test leads are working perfectly fine for me.
👍 Excellent!
9:00 i wonder if the reading number represents the estimated percentages of the battery juice? for a 9V battery, 8V under no load is pretty much around 20% juice left, yes? (trying to spare this meter a little bit here.. 😅)
I got one and it seems to be working fine. I am not super experienced with using a multimeter (hence why I am watching this) but I have a question about the continuity selection. Does that test a wire to see if there is a complete circuit or what?
excellent review.. got this thing with soldering kit too. I guess its good enough for me to do what I need to do.
Great to hear.. seems capable enough. It's an 830xx series clone so you know it's 👍good!
Hello Darren!!! Good video you are generous 1.5 star!!! May be influent by the beatiful green color and the test leds with the aligatos típs! Thanks my friend and waiting for the next rewiew
I just got this as a gift and I have a question, do you think the battery reading is actually volts?
Love your reviews Simple yet informative. So much so, after the review on the ZOYI ZT102A . Which BTW was another brill vid, I went and bought one. I love the Auto feature which is great because I'm setting up 12v electrics in my Camper Van. But something curious happened. by accident I have found 4 more false Auto settings .If you place the dial in between each functions mode settings starting from the mV dial mode. to, in between the A and mA dial setting. The Auto light comes up on the screen, and it works just like the proper Auto. Is this normal or is there a problem somewhere.???? BTW only tried it once. just in case I may damage the meter
I'm pretty sure thats a bug not intended for real world use.Anytime you get stuck between ranges its usually not a good thing. Thanks for the kind words!👍
@@KeepOnTesting Thanks for the info. It's works fine at the moment , lets see how it goes.
Great review thank you
Thx Samuel!
My COM Port wasn't working that well either. I had to tilt the end of the lead that goes into the multimeter for it to register.
If this is your problem just take the multimeter apart and lightly crimp the cylinder down. Put it back together and if you crimped it enough it'll work flawlessly.
Just be careful. Small parts inside of the dial
You mean input jack. Yes you can crimp to make a better fit but you shouldn't have too.
😀👍
@@KeepOnTesting Thanks. I agree
Looking forward to your Sanwa program.
Should be a good week👍
The battery test sets a fixed resistance load and measures current, not voltage. For a 9 V battery it is usually 24 mA @ 9.0 V, for a 1.5 V battery 40 mA @ 1.50 V (on some models 50 mA). This function is identical to a DT-182.
PS, for small watch batteries, switch to the 9 V test and expect 4..4.5 mA on a fresh battery.
Yes indeed..I realized this after the initial review. Definitely an unusual albeit interesting way to measure a batteries longevity. 👍 btw great tip for the watch batteries!
I think on some other cheap multimeters with a battery tester mode the meter will display the current under some kind of load and not a voltage. Check the manual and see if it says anything about it. Nice review of a green steaming pile.😜
Green steaming pile..I like that !
Believe it or not but there's not 1 mention about the battery function/range in the manual, smh. Food for thought though!
What battery do you need to turn on the multimeter?
9v
Hey buddy at least it's green 👍
ET phone home...😱
Nice review 👍, Good looking Multimeter, unfortunately not accurate, Winapex 8101 has almost the same price but accurate readings, Hi Darren is the winapex clampmeter review coming ?
Yes indeed 👍 the review for the clamp will be out in early July.
I've seen similar multimeters reviewed, and they said it was milliamps of the battery. I guess that is useful but probably not as useful as it just showing the voltage. The best would be to show both. Not gonna happen at this price point.
0:40 Cheap like borscht 😀 do you actually like borscht?
Depends on the borscht! I grew up with it but never really appreciated a good bowl of borscht until my wife made it for me..😊
👌
I got one and working sjut perfectly fine. I think you are unlucky. Btw you used the battery tester totally wrong. That is not voltage, but more like a weak try to show percentage of the battery
No its fudged. I received another unit and it displayed the 1.5/9v function perfectly. This dmm wasn't meant for prime time. Thx for watching 👀
So low performance? Unbelievable! I had it in my aliexpress whishlist! Generally i had some respect for the products of handskit, they always looked better quality than other no name products.
Yes it was really disappointing. Appears my unit was made in a hurry!
After i saw pros and cons to end of the video, i can say that i wouldnt have problem with that dmm. High accuracy is important for me! The disadvantages are easilly fixable :)
@@just_arandom_guy8209 Surprisingly good on the mV/mA ranges. Just terribly put together and now the Resistance range completely died. A permanent OL.
Too bad really..
Capacitor
No capacitance support for this multimeter
@@KeepOnTesting sad
@@dontvvlog9823 It's a DT830 clone (classic) unfortunately that chipset the ICM 7106 never had capacitance.
Tried to get it working for a solid 20 minutes before seeing your video. I have the same issue, what an aweful joke
Yes..this one is definitely a turd! 😅
First comment
Holy SH one T. This unit even @ 10/11 GDP is a disaster.
Agreed!!
Very disappointing. Will certainly avoid this "turd".
Definitely, I still can't get over the huge test leads for such small multimeter! A real hodgepodge.😅
Wow, zero quality control here - even the Harbor Freight freebie 830's work better than this, too bad. Nice looking case though-lol
👍 At least the green doesn't glow in the dark..🤣
Why have that annoying music in the background.?????
I've toned it down since. Music should enhance not detract . 👍
@@KeepOnTesting good because I turned it off well before the end. It might be just me but I couldn't hear a word you was saying. I honestly can't understand why a teaching video has to play music in the background 🙄
@@stevenprince9907 It's not a teaching video it's a review. You do understand the difference correct?
