    I've been using Calimoto for 2 years now and love it, the only thing I don't get is the Garage under Profile (in the App) where you can add your bikes, but that's all it's for, it serves no purpose.
    I have emailed Calimoto many times asking if the bikes in the garage can be associated to rides so we can then see a mileage stat for each bike, they always reply saying they are planning on adding this but never do, hopefully Calimoto will see this comment...
    Keep up the good work TP1.

    @ThePumpkinheed Před 3 lety +2

    Been using Calimoto for about 12 months and generally it is great, especially the round trip generator!
    My biggest gripe with the app for example is when planning a 'Twisty' route, it will sometimes divert you from a 60mph B road and put you down a random 30mph street in a housing estate, just because it has a slight bend in the road. We had a long ride from Newcastle to Cambridge using Calimoto last year to get all the good, twisty roads on the way down and I had no end of grief from my mates as we diverted down random streets that are just zero fun to ride on.
    A useful feature would be to set or avoid certain speed limits where possible, to avoid such things. At the moment I end up having to set the app as most direct route avoiding motorways, but you can miss out on some good roads because of this.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah it’s definitely a limitation of using the OpenSource maps that it’s based on. They want to eventually invest in the google maps technology which has the associated speed limit info etc attached, and then they can work that I to their algorithm - but it’s too costly apparently at present.
      It’ll come though as it all develops

    Bruce this is a great app and I finally decided to give it a go after your endorsement. I find the “twisty” roads often better than “super twisty”. Thanks for this update vid - good to see what else it can do now 👍🏻

    Brilliant Bruce. I took your previous advice re: Ultimateaddons and Calimoto (paid version) and love my set up, rather than spending almost 400 quid on a Garmin Zumo. I note also that they have dropped their price by well over 100 quid from a year ago (it was almost 600 before with the mount) - and my guess is the "Calimoto factor". Great to see your updates - I would never have known. - and it's British . Coolio 👍

  • @ClydeR1971
    @ClydeR1971 Před 3 lety +1

    Another good vid Bruce!! I'm trialling this app against my Garmin Zumo 660 - so far it seems the business and well up for the job. So much so, I've even left the Garmin off for my last couple of tours and it's worked flawlessly. It would be handy if it didn't switch to phone mode when taking a call...maybe it does and I haven't worked it out yet!? Oh, and the IRN BRU 1901 tastes pants compared to the stuff we guzzled as kids back in the 70's....there's not enough real sugar and there's no "gingery fire". Bring back Ba -Bru !!

    I have just downloaded Calimoto on my phone but what I need now is a basic 'how to use and get the best out of' video. I'm making too many mistakes, not being born with a smartphone in my hand I'm a bit lost. (Phones used to have a button A&B in my youth). Have you done a 'basics' video? I am an ex teapot myself but when computers came in I retired!! Now I'm in that envious position I like nothing better than getting out on the bike. Just changing my lovely Crosstourer for a new 2021 NC750x. The crosstourer is just too heavy to push around now I'm in my pensionable years . Great content as always.

    I hear that the worst of this app it's actually the normal navigation (kind of like Waze) - sucks at finding the best routes, and if you miss a waypoint, it's a nightmare!
    I do completely agree with you Garmin & BaseCamp (I ironically call it bootcamp) is a nightmare. Maybe there could be a niche market for Android navigator devices, ideally for me, one that would fit the RT holder equally like the Navigator VI from Garmin (rebranded Motorrad)

    recharge the phone. I used the PAUSE function and it went into pause
    mode fine. However after charging the phone and returning to the app,
    the trip was still in pause mode without a way to RESUME it?? This
    happened to me on my last two longer trips. How do you resume the trip?
    Is there a RESUME function? When driving further, the trip stayed in
    PAUSE mode. Thank you for any help on this.

  • @Rajvirdee
    @Rajvirdee Před 3 lety +1

    I’ve purchased the premium version of this app and sadly it’s just not delivering as much as I’d love it too.
    Key problems are
    How do you see a route overview whilst navigating ? Google etc all offer this and it’s a great way to check your progress ?
    Many times the navigation gives the option of turning more than one way. Eg left or right. I don’t know what I’m found wrong but it’s so annoying.
    Exporting a route vis GPX isn’t possible on the app.
    I’ve practically given up and now use scenic.
    Appreciate your advice
    Thank you

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  Před 3 lety +2

      Route Overview:
      Not sure what you mean here Raj? You can just zoom out on the map if you want to see where you are in relation to the whole route. You can also tap any of the information boxes to cycle through different data sets like - Distance travelled, distance to go, time riding, time to destination etc etc
      Navigation Options:
      I’m assuming you mean the actual map looks like it’s going in either direction? The top left box tells you what the next turn is so go by that.
      Exporting GPX:
      You can do this easily via the web browser Calimoto website. Just go to calimoto.com and sign in to your account. It will sync with your phone and you can access all your rides and routes. Select a route and then at the top of the right sidebar is the option to export as gpx file.
      I’ll do some tutorial vids on how to use the app etc 👍

    Hello Bruce, I've a question for you, have you ever come across any winter waterproof gear that actually does what it claims to do? I like many people have spent thousands on gear that claims to be 100% waterproof, the first time you go out in light rain you get soaked and if it's cold you freeze. Needs a CZcamsr to challenge the companies that make and sell this gear, get them to give you their so called 100% waterproofs for testing. After all the gear is very expensive so they should be called out if the gear doesn't do what they claim it does, I for one am fed up with paying a fortune and still getting cold wet and miserable, that also lessons your awareness when all you can think about is how cold you are.

      How does calimoto deal with this situation?

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  Před 2 lety +1

      Ah ok, kind of similar to google maps.
      If you deviate from the route then Calimoto will re-direct you to get back on track for the next waypoint.
      If you continue to ride away from the next waypoint, it eventually assumes you want to skip it and so it recalculates the route to get to the next waypoint in the list, according to the ‘twisty’ setting you’ve selected.
