I’ve had 3 Victories and rode them for 15+ years.
Currently I have a 2019 RGS Stage IV….as it pissed me off when Polaris dumped Victory for Indian.
But I get why they did it…to get more HD riders to cross over.
    That being said….
The Victory/Indian bikes are built better and come standard with more features.
I love my RG, but had to pay extra for heated grips, satellite radio, a decent windshield. Not to mention the cost of the stage IV to get a bit of power.
I could certainly see my next bike being an Indian.
Great bikes with nice standard features…as yes they will stand out a bit more than a Road Glide for sure….as great a bike as they are. Maybe I’ll have one of each….why not!

Good evaluation of the features. I just upgraded from a Shadow 750 that I rode for 10 years to the Pursuit premium limited which shares most features with this bike. I have had it for about 2 weeks and have been blown away. This bike has met and exceeded every idea I had about what a bike can do. I am not rich, this was probably a once in a lifetime thing for me. I compared point by point this bike and others to more bikes than I can count. I have watched hundreds of videos on competitive options, talked to owners of every other bike I considered against this platform. I test rode at least 6 other bikes. The only bike I didn't get to test and I suspect is it's strongest competitor is the goldwing. Like you said CVO was a lot more money and offered little in return side by side for the price. You really have to have a lot of brand loyalty to HD to choose the CVO. I think they are awesome, and there are reasons other than the spec sheet to choose a bike. I think most of Indians short comings are in the ride command software, and a few fit and finish issues. I think these days it's actually hard to make a wrong decision when it comes to buying a bike. There are so many amazing option from Harleys, Indians, Hondas, BMWs etc that I would be proud to own.

Looks and sounds like you're a few steps ahead...lol
I've been riding a VT750 deluxe and looking to upgrade. Very reliable little bikes but not much comfort for longer trips. I've been able to get it narrowed down to Road King Standard or Challenger...
I just wish they didn't have all the computer stuff on the newer bikes. They are nice, but I can't come to trust the reliability of electronics and software.

      @ChadGrimes Před 2 lety +1

@@alp3781 I got my bike about a month ago in the middle of July. The temp has routinely been over 100°f if it's hot the fans come on, and at stops the rear cylinder deactivation kicks in. I can't compare it to an air cooled engine because I don't have one but I don't consider the heat excessive. I feel more heat on the right side but I have been on bikes that are worse. Riding in the heat in stop and go will always suck but to me the bike is on par or better than most liquid cooled bikes I have ridden. I imagine the heat would be even if I removed the catalytic converter

I test rode several Indians when I was ready to go bigger from my Harley sportster. At the time I was looking for a possible alternative one of the Harley Soft Tails. The Indians I took out were great, but I just couldn't get over the disparity between the 2 company's when it came to customer support. 199 Indian dealers in the US . . . 681 Harley dealers. So I bought a 2018 Harley Deluxe and was very happy. Here in Salt Lake, I've got 3 dealers within 20 miles of my home . . . 1 within 5 miles. In 2020, I also bought a CVO street glide with the 117. When the supply crunch happened to the industry, it sure was nice to have 3 dealers close by that had a combined current inventory that fulfilled all of my needs. On another note, every time I went into the Indian dealership, I had to walk through all of the other vehicles made by Polaris to get to the bikes. When I go into a Harley dealership, it is crystal clear what they're all about and who their customers are.

You have to remember, HD has the benefit of never shutting down thanks to help from Reagan and many others over the decades. Love Reagan, but he should've stayed out of it. HD is like the failed child getting bailed out by daddy many times over. It takes a company (of any large product) many successful years before they ever consider opening a custom shop within their company. Indian succeeded and failed all on its own merits. With zero outside help. Indian Motorcycle Company is still a recent re-opening with Polaris, and they're slowly getting out more detailed paint jobs. The Dark Horse editions have been a success. Now, as seen with this video, they are getting into more custom styles of paint schemes. Your judgemental view of Indian being a distant second is really lopsided. Where would HD be right now if they failed during the Great Depression, or WW2 or post-WW2 without a lucrative War Department contact? What if they had to go thru with their bankruptcy proceedings? Where would Victory be right now if HD had to honestly earn their struggles over the years? I think we'd have three major American MC manufacturers right now instead of two. What if HD was forced to honestly compete with Japanese bikes in the 1980's? Maybe we'd have the Bronx line already, who knows?

This is the sharpest Indian produced; fantastic lines and features. The regular Indian technological features, power and suspension system are usually superior to HD. The problem with Victory was lack of marketing and support. Indian does not suffer that problem. Polaris learned from their Victory mistakes.
Not for nothing Victory was not a bad bike but the problem was too few dealerships had techs trained to program them properly when upgrading or performance modding them.
I rode several different models and found them to be quite impressive and comfortable for long distance runs. Again, the lack of support was the ultimate downfall for Victory IMO.

I pulled the trigger going from a Honda Monkey to a 2023 Indian Challenger. The Indian has waaay more power, and I am no longer being passed by overweight dump trucks. Plus, my girlfriend has a place to sit with no more contortion acts. All in all, a better ride.

Lol. My Challenger is more exclusive. Riot Orange Smoke, it's an Icon. They're making less than 10 of these. During normal times, (pre shortages) Icon Indians were limited to 50 or less. But that elite is definitely the best looking one.
Edit: it's actually on par with the 131, it exceeds the 117. Also, the puddle light, all the challengers had that, but they removed it for 22 models. You can buy it though 😆

  • @thevieweybrothers8960

How do they sound? Love the sound of Harley. Nothing better than pulling on that throttle and hearing the roar of a Harley, especially with upgraded pipes and cams

I would trade my 2017 M8 Harley Davidson for a Indian Challenger period. This bike/bagger is the modern motorcycle. One hole oil fill and oil drain, no pushrods, no lifters, full counter balancing, ride modes, locking saddle bags with remote and full liquid cooling. HD has a modern engine but their playing around holding onto their bottom end cam bikes for some reason while pricing people off their brand.

The Indians are a great motorcycle 🏍 i had a victory 20 years ago and that bike has 68k on it still goin,I was kinda bummed when they announced victory was shutting down, but hands down the Indian is a better bike ,but I would hope so its a newer bike and people exspect the best with today's technology theres no reason why the consumer can't get the best product 👍 if not there's enough aftermarket support now to build your own bike better than any factory bike .but I will say this, its not a harley davidson nor is it trying to be totally different ride power and ride comes on different. Its good that manufacturers push each other because that forces them to build a better product for 🇺🇸 us ,I honestly believe everyone should own a Indian and a harley, they are both fantastic products nothing is perfect and the aftermarket world will fill that niche for guys that want above and beyond what a factory engine can do.god bless America 🇺🇸 and the amazing America muscle cruising tour motorcycle 🏍 ✌

Awesome looking bike. They're way ahead of harley. Wonder why the suspension isn't automatically adjusted for you. My bmw 1250rt has auto suspension but does the preload by itself depending on weight of rider/passenger and is always adjusting. Their older bikes you had to tell the bike what kind of load you had. Figured they'd all be going this way instead. Regardless one nice bike.
