I don't know which one is more legendary: James Caan trying to murder a man by running over him with a plane or Arnold firing at a plane with a Desert Eagle pistol in the sky.
I liked how it's about a minute or 2 from the point he jumps out to when they turn back for him. A plane like that goes about 460+ mph. Meaning in a minute it would be 7.6 miles away from him. Not the few hundred yards we are shown.
I had the pleasure of working with the stunt double for the parachute scene! He was one of the sweetest persons I’ve ever met. He told me all about how he designed and rigged a harness to make it look like it was tangled and easy for him to deploy his chute safely. Jeffery Jones was his name.
Not from Hollywood, but foreign action films have stepped up. The Raid hits a level of intensity, stunts, and choreography that we never came close to.
I just loved James Caan and the way he played the villian in this: an intelligent villian! He took Arnie's character seriously as dangerous, and predicted what he would do. Just so well written and played!
I remember reading an account of two WWII airmen who bailed out of a plane over Germany in pitch black. One of them had no parachute, and falling through the darkness, crashes into another guy and grabbed onto his legs, and they both managed to land and survive. If that can happen, then this is within the realm of possibility 😂
I heard one of a WWII soldier whose chute failed but survived because he fell through the branches of a tall pine tree and feet of snow, which broke his fall.
This era of action movies was fun as hell. I miss going to the video rental store and picking up this kind of awesome fun movie to watch with my friends.
He fell 25 thousand feet for 41 seconds and when his parachute game of he leveled height of the airplane automatically. That's 90's movie and I love it.
