- The powerful Ho-Oh is returning to Raids in Pokémon GO for a limited time, and it is definitely worth getting. Defeating it doesn't require too much, but you should be prepared. However, I wouldn't spend too many Raid Passes, as Pokémon GO Fest is just around the corner. In this video, I will be talking about how you can defeat Ho-Oh.

He should have mentioned mega aerodactyl as the best counter. It’s a perfect counter that gives you additional XL candy.
Important don't use xl candy on the normal version its been data mined that both apex shadow lugia and apex shadow ho-oh will be returning save your candy for them first shadow apex lugia in next rocket takeover event weekend and the rocket takeover event after that shadow apex ho-oh shadow ho-oh better than normal version only shadow lugia worth doing purify or normal lugia worth upgrading since more of a tank so benefits less from damage.
Doesnt matter, you want the normal one for pvp either way
And there's no reason to get it for PvE, we already got better alternatives

It's a bit of an odd one. I was really looking forward to trying to get a few Ho-oh's, but it coincides with Mega Tyranitar being on rotation, and Mega Tyranitar (and regular tyranitar for that matter) are just better (top 3 attacker in both Dark and Rock vs. 'top 30' in fire and Flying), I'd say. In fact, raiding for Mega Tyranitar is actually beneficial, as it's one of the top counters for Ho oh XD.
Unless it's purely to farm candy and candy XL to level up an an Apex Shadow Ho oh, it doesn't seem a worthy time and money investment (in my opinion). Right now there are better alternatives freely available in the wild for Fire attackers: Torchic is spawning in the wild, so there's Mega Blaziken potential, and shadow torchic is on rotation with Team Rocket grunts, so shadow Blazekin. Same can be said for Shadow Darumaka for the candy to evolve them into Shadow Darmanitan. Same could be said for Hondour/Shadow hourndour. And given the 8th anniversary celebrations, it's actually easier to farm charmander candy (because they spawn in the wild) than raid for Ho oh.
As for Flying types, regular Ho oh's raid week is unfortunately sandwiched in between Yveltal (A better Flying attacker), and tomorrow's Mega Rayquaza raid day. But it is otherwise a decent alternative if players haven't been able to do Yveltal raids or won't be able to do tomorrow's raids (or didn't take advantage of Bagon community day to build up on Bagon Candy for Salamence). Oh, and shadow starly is on rotation with the TR grunts, and starly is available in the wild, so Shadow Staraptor is also available.
It's a cool, 'mon. No doubt about it. And I look forward to getting one. But i don't think that for me, at this moment and given the alternatives, it's a farmable one :)

EDIT: I should point out this - I am a fairly new player, so in that regard, doing Mega Tyranitar raids makes more sense to me, as I get more out of them in terms of functionality (mega energy and Tyranitars to use that Mega energy on). More experienced players who already have full squads of Regular and Shadow Tyranitars might not benefit from it as much as newbies like me, and therefore the option to farm Ho oh for candy and candy XL will logically make much more sense.
Don't you ever think you might get into PVP someday? Ho-Oh is better than Tyranitar for that.
It does have Solar Beam, so beware.
Count, you should talk about how the Mega Rayquaza elite raid eggs still have started yet so its impossible to plan for the day and that the “free” meteorite is locked behind clearing an elite raid
I’m so tired of good Pokémon not having access to their typings moves for fast and charged. There’s no reason Ho-oh can’t have a flying type fast move.
It’s funny because it can learn gust which is literally the same move as Incinerate.

@@andrewfrzr I meant that Ho-Oh can learn gust in the main series games. Since both moves are very similar in Go, It makes no sense to not give Ho-Oh gust

Haven't spent a dime since Lugia was around last April 2023 haven't bought a remote since. All I care for is xuritrie and necrozama that's all I care about

I had a LVL 45 Shadow Ho-Oh. Not sure if I screwed up. I've used all my XL on that. It's now LVL 49. I got the Hundo on Saturday and the Shiny earlier today, lol. No way I could power all of them up. Would love to max out to the Hundo, but I'm already so close with the Shadow.
I really think Ho-oh is sick. I'll probably raid a few today, get to a couple gyms in person and invite a bunch of friends on day one of the pokemon in the raid rotation, usually you will be able to find a team of friends to join on day 1 and 2.
First raid hour in 4 months im gonna have to miss and its one of my favorite gen 2 mon lol 😢
This was my first ever 5 star raid on my new account (deleted old ones). I was so hyped, it was a new highest CP. 16 excellent golden razz throws and I didn’t catch it

I ran into a Ho-Oh with Solar Beam today and it knocked out all my Water types lol. That sucked. Still won the raid though.
If its Apex shadow its good but to use an elite tm for raids? Blast burn and fusion flare sre far better investments. Unless you like pvp
shadow better than normal for ho-oh only normal lugia better than shadow since it more of a tank
I have a 98% that I can max so I might do a couple to get one for the master league and raids.

It was recently changed. They will appear at 6 AM the day of the raids
The truth is that it’s no good without it’s exclusive move set. we don’t need to raid hard.

@@jamarigaither6534 Yes but you only get like 3 Elite TM a year. And we already had atleast 4 other Pokemon that came with no legacy move set.
If you know the game, i am sure you can name at least 4 Pokemon more relevant than this one to use your elite TM on.

I may be wrong but you get one for end of season gbl rewards but you must get 500 wins. Level 19.
4 seasons a year. That’s only 4. Maybe you get 2 a year with gbl day task. That’s 6.
We are 6 months in and if we use them like you say, we won’t have anymore for the Pokemon rest of year.6 months worth of Pokemon in raids
@@Miklo_1 sorry idk why i put 12. But yes 2 per season so 6 per year. That doesnt sound bad. I mostly do pvp so when i caught my 15/15/13 ho oh i was very happy with it because its ivs are good enough for master league so definite using an elite tm if i dont get a hundo in the next few days. With most raid mons i tend to not use the elite tms since i try to get multiple pokemon that are good raid attackers for each type so im not missing out much if im not using a pokemon with its best move thats elite tmd so i can sit on a bunch of elite tms until i feel like i need to use them on some pokemon that i think is super good for pvp or something

there's much better fire raid attacker, even as a shadow, Shadow Moltres/Legacy Reshiram is still a better go-to fire raid attacker, that is until Shadow Reshiram comes... 🔥😬🗿
I'd say Reshiram is better than Moltres as a fire type attacker. As a flyer, Moltres would be awesome against grass, bug and fighting type raids for example. Just hope they don't have rock type attacks, those one shot Moltres.
Ho-Oh, being bulkier and a bit more defensive would be better as a flyer if it had a fast flying type attack.

I'm still always shocked at how many people still enjoy PVP to this day with it being such a buggy mess that has had zero changes to it's mechanics over it's entire lifespan.
