- Memory-mapped I/O versus port-based I/O when interfacing things to microprocessors.
An introductory explanation of memory mapped I/O versus port-based I/O used on older microprocessors. This moved inside the IC with the development of microcontrollers where all I/O is implemented internally and hence the I/O design also moved inside. However, this topic still requires understanding so that design and implementation of internal architecture can be grasped mentally.
