Thanks to Miguel for the informative video! Just replaced them on my 2019 V60R and noticed the first time closing was very slow. After that, opening and closing are smooth, quiet and fast! I'm suspecting the first cycle (close) is calibrating the struts similar to windows on older cars when the battery was disconnected. Thanks again Miguel!
For anyone looking for third party struts there’s a company called Deffner that supply them. Thanks for this video! Made my swap that little bit easier.
The exact same problem happened on my 2019 V60 - the design of the original struts was awful as they used to fill with rainwater and the springs corroded. Fortunately, I got the dealer to change them under warranty as they failed 1 month before the warranty expired. I now have a problem that the heated rear screen does not work!
Es necesario regular o programar? En mi v90 funcionan bien pero creo que al bajar golpea demasiado fuerte, lo noto muy brusco. Saludos! Muy buen trabajo!
the old one is really terrible. the spring actually stuck inside causing this issue. but if possible that I can replaced the spring everything can back to spec
Very helpful! But how did you dissamble the struts from the tailgate itself? Any special tools for that? Do you have to support the tailgate doing this?
You need to support the tailgate with a brush or a pole of some sort. The strut comes out after removing the clip on each side with a flat screw driver. Super easy.
@@smartMAC Thanks man! I guess I'll do the replacement by myself since the Volvo dealer charges crazy amount of money for that, although it's an issue with THEIR quality. Kudos for your work. :)
Hi Miguel, I've been told by Volvo that the new part needs to be coded to the car? From what I can see yours just works, so i'm assuming the new part does not need coding?

Where did you buy your parts? Direct from Volvo these things are so expensive. Trying to find non OEM and can't find any for V60. It's a shame because I can find for all the SUVs
@@PaulDodds-em5lm No I haven't had any success. eBay sells all other model variants but not the V60. That's when looking worldwide. I have not managed to find any websites that offer this part unless it's OEM.

No hace falta programar. No sé si se pueden regular los topes pero en el mío cierran igual que antes.

@@erharddinges8855 In my opinion Yes.
Does it still run smoothly after a year of replacement?
All fine since the swap last year.
Where you buy the parts?
Shit. Same thing happening to my v60! 😅😅😅
My v60 only makes a cracky noise so far… 600€ 😮
Did this. Easy fix. Do it your self and save 350 euros
