The best band in the world. ALVIN IS GOD. R.I.P.🍉❤💯 Welcome from Hungary.
Love the Woodstock watermelon
I@@TheThamesmen I proud, Chick signed live at Fillmore East 1970, Cricklewood Green cd and Live at Marquee 1983 DVD. Paks Gastroblues Festival. Cheers.
I have only just found this episode. But Love Like A Man by Ten Years After has one of the best rifs ever.
A Space in Time was one of my first own vinyls (after some Beatles) and I loved it.
I was at this concert, one of the best bass, guitar jams ever and it is never mentioned, if you look when Alvin does like a kicking motion at about 3:10, he was kicking a pair of women's underwear that was thrown on stage, I remember it vividly, this was at Winterland in SF, CA. US, I was sitting in the balcony just about where Alvin's Guitar is pointing
No way well then you watch my old man on the keyboard that night
Maybe the greatest guitarist of the entire era of classic rock that nobody ever seems to talk about, and what a sad commentary that is. Alvin Lee was pure fireball in his fingertips and pure God-given talent in his approach. Alvin's tone was so unique because he did it without the use of foot pedals, wah-wah bars, fuzz boxes, or any of the other gimmicks of the day. Just pure ability and incredible, at times bordering on almost unbelievable finger speed. There's a reason that this late, great rocker carried the same 3 nicknames his entire career. "Captain Speedfingers", "Fastest Guitar In The West", and my personal favorite "The Man Who Played Faster Than His Shadow." Along with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Duane Allman, & Jimi Hendrix, Alvin Lee makes my top 5 all-time greatest guitarists 7 days a week and twice on Sunday!
new subscriber listening to some older tracks, love you guys johnny lang does a version of this song without the fantastic solo
Welcome and make yourself at home. Come for the music, stick around for wibble
"Recorded Live" 2 LP is the best of Ten Years After. Song " Standing At The Station" is one of the greatest "jamming song" ever recorded!!!! Great band!!!
Dude you know your TYA..... That is a great track and of course my old man on the keys owned that track!
In Indianapolis 74 or 75. We all loved Alvin's guitar playing but the buzz afterwards was Just how great Leo was.
Hi Mark - Did you se them live?
Ten Years After and Blue Oyster Cult....underrated great bands. Thanks for playing.
Rock on! Thanks for being here.
Sadly I discovered Alvin Lee to late, so I never had the chance to see him live. Wish I could have. I just love the energy TYA had, especially Leo and Alvin, not something you see very often. It all comes straight out of the body/heart/brain, no scripts involved. But the band, all of them were great, sadly they broke up. Both Leo and Ric gave their view on the reason on youtube. I think Leo always kept a bit more love for Alvin, than Ric and Chick did, could very well be the reason why your father did not mention Alvin. Thanks for this video!
Ah it's so complicated. Lots of tangled webs. I think each person has their own story and each person is probably right. Be well and thanks for watching!!
@@TheThamesmen You are right, in the end it is how each person experienced it. Hope to see more videos, and I hope you sneak Alvin/TYA in there again aswel.
I love everything about this, only knew the band name, this guys great. 9.2
Glenn comes in big!
TYA was one of my favorite "gangs" especially first 2 albums. saw them in NYC Central Park summer ocncerts A bit fuzzy on that one. But not on Fillmore East show. What a performance. Alvin shredding before shredding was a concept. Leo Lyons bonkers on Woodchoppers Ball. Help Me was the showstopper. Help Me can be done very fast ala Johnny Winter, medium ala Van, or slow like TYA. It went on seemingly forever like Ravel's Bolero with Alvin using mic stand as a slide. My fav guitarists mostly gone now, Jimi, Alvin, Rory,Duane. I wonder if the angels lend the boys some harpstrings. Gonna have a wee cry. night
You do know my old mans the keyboard player right? Thanks for being here. More soon!!
@@TheThamesmen they were a raucous bunch, Ric Lee wasn't the daintiest drummer. Chick got smothered except on things like I can't keep from crying. You are aware of the backstory of how Al Kooper played the intro to like a Rolling Stone? Before I was a guitar god know it all, I was an organ god know it all jazz Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff and rock ie Felix Caviliere, Ray Manzarek BTW do you know why JS Bach had 17 kids?
Sorry for this comment : Hahahahahahaha....The only thing I can....lol
I’m thinking you need a musical field trip... Detroit for instance ?
Home of the guitar gods (which is of course Checkingdon where Alvin Lee had Hook manor who sold it to Gilmour from Floyd and then we had Deep Purple and the Who in Goring) Hope all is wellx
On my opinion Alvin lee embodies the skill, passion, the whole body mind immersion of a guitar 🎸 God. Hendrix just didn't do enough and after cream Clapton became a stiff, perfect guitar mannequin. Jimmy Page and Rory Gallagher were extraordinary but just don't elicit the same emotions for me.
Well said. He was something else for sure
@@TheThamesmen thank you. He is my guitar God no matter what!
