Hearing them talk about the beards defence 12 years ago and seeing how he hasn’t improved is insane.
Truly Dirk’s 2011 playoff run , considered to be one of the greats , 32 years old and got over that hump to win it all
Fax yo he beat Kobe kd and Bron Wade and Bosh in this one playoff run
Beating nine future Hall of Famers along the way!
Yeah pretty sure. Dallas’ 2011 was surely one of the most greatest playoff run in history. Defeating rising superteam like Blazers and OKC and outplaying and sweeping defending champ Lakers. And the cherry on top, the newly formed Lebron’s mega superteam. I’m glad Dallas had their revenge against Wade’s 2006 championship much more nicer since Lebron and Bosh was there.
Leon CatchMe indeed Dallas should’ve won the 2006 title
@@leoncatchme5566 how were the blazers relevant then
15 point lead with 5 minutes to go. Thunder's Harden fouls out, Westbrook goes into choke mode and can't run the offense, and Dirk goes into superhero mode.
I loved this fkn team. Everybody was hyping each other up. Everybody embraced their role, no bs no nothin. Just do your job, who cares about pride, and they win it all.

dirk might be one of the hardest players to guard in nba history because he doesnt really have an obvious flaw in his game. He has the size to back down smaller forwards, he has a terrific jumpshot from anywhere on the court and hits his free throws so you cant hack him, he is mobile enough to maneuver around the rim, and he has the handles to drive when he needs to. He deserves the ring he's got
His lone ring has more value than anything LeBron and Durant achieved combined
@@RRRRRRRRR33 lmao cap

I know It's already 2023 but I still miss the Mavs Line up in 2011. Their team back then is just formidable.
They on paper don't even seem that good tbh an old ass jason kidd, a mid player in DeShawn, Shawn Marion was pretty old, dirk a beast but old lol, and tyson chandler who I believe was old to. Only 1 star in that line up
Shawn Marion honestly doesn't get enough credit for his role on this team
Almost as good as Phoenix Marion the. Just a bit slower and less accurate shot wise. He was still a huge x factor though
And Tyson Chandler

And comparing today's Luka with Russ, not disrespect Russ, but Russ's control of the game as a point guard is constantly terrible in the playoffs. He frequently puts wild shots and rushes the pace, his inconsistent shooting, and bad decision making constantly put the Thunders in trouble even though they have one the best scorer, one of the best players in NBA history (KD). If they can replace Russ with today's Luka, man..., I can't imagine how great this team would be. The Thunders need to make tough choices on these future MVP players, sadly, they chose Russ, and we know what was the result...

Dirk is insane... what a game
It's unbelievable how much the game has changed in way less then 10 years.
I actually prefer this kind of basketball compare to today's.
Yeah, its weird but fun to watch. The lack of spacing makes every shot more difficult, leading to the ones going in being more impressive
Now it's just Curry or Morant or Durant hitting a 3 pointer 15 feet behind the arc.

Mavs had the most impressive playoff runs in history. Beating a very good Portland, then defending Champs Lakers, new and upcoming powerhouse OKC, then LeBron's newly formed big 3.
If you watch these matches you could see how much of a great passer Jason kid was he would pass at the perfect spot rarely did any turnovers his pass was mostly done for scoring not for just moving around another big reason why Dallas needed to win that championship he deserved one for sure as much as Dirk.
shawn marion is crucial. he made several clutch defensive plays
i remember watching this and every time he made the first shot of the game i knew it was gonna be FIRE. The man didn't miss a first shot I think during that series
People think Dirk shoots well. He's more than that. He shoots well under all circumstances.
Missing watching my Idol Dirk playing.. Great game by him and the rest of the 2011 Champions
This is one of the greatest playoff runs ever
the fact he didn't need a game 7 the fact no major injuries occurred for teams he played against or really all playoff and the fact he lost caron butler.....its right there man as the best run ever...him and rick barry ...its hard to put that one over this cause dirk had the injury to a star teammate and a major injury for roddy a role player as well that no one mentions

Dirk was cold 🤯
Being a bron fan watching dirk cook us made me really realize how cold he was he’s the most skill pf of all time
Dirk was phenomenal here. Also, Westbrook built a house in this game.
As always, WestBrook is the dumbest player in the history of bastketball. Considering his athleticism, talent, how much he dominates the ball as a PG... it's just so foolish, the guy is so stupid, he ends up sabotaging his own team
Dirk's 1 ring is more meaningful than durant's ring.
That is a interesting point but a stretch. And, KD may get a chance to win a different kind of meaningful ring. The team chemistry and execution on Dallas is far better than OKC.
Bruh cut it out. If you gone make that statement then you should throw LeBron in the same sense
Its more meaningful than Lebron s ring s In Miami too . If you say different then you’re a hypocrite

During this time nobody would’ve predicted that Steph Curry would win back to back MVPs and nobody knew who Kawhi Leonard was.

This OKC meltdown honestly doesn’t get talked about enough thanks to the Miami Heat in the Finals that year.

17:10-17:24 Jeff Van Gundy said the most accurate statement about Harden as a future top player in the league. I think Okc should have chosen Harden instead of Westbrook to be the partner of KD. I don't think Westbrook is a bad player, but he hasnt improved his decision making and shot selection so much. In some way, Westbrook's struggles made Okc worse when KD was there. Thats made the difference between Harden and Westbrook, when Harden could reach at least two WCF in Houston with good team records, Russ struggles in the first round and WCSF when KD left.
It was there same in the 2012 finals his decision making was atrocious which forced them to play hero ball
Exactly. Harden complements Durant way better. Plus KD is that closer whereas Harden is not. James as it turned out is actually a much better passer then Westbrook, even at SG.
Both of these teams are extremely talented. Very fun to watch.
This was the playoffs where all the opposing team's PFs went missing or Dirk was just too good.
Both.
OKC was still gathering experience.
I would say both but that's Live sometimes. Sometimes you have to be good and have to be lucky
They weren't missing, he buried them.

The 2011 mavericks championship was probably the best thing for the game of NBA basketball in the past 2 decades
Considering Dirk scored 40 when he is 32 is a reason why Dirk is one of the greats.
32 isn't old
Damn thats really old...back in 1800s shiet
Jamal crawford scored 51 at age 39. What’s your point?
100 Dollar yeah and that was once in a lifetime for him jamal average like 10 that year when dirk averaged 20 plus that year
jamal can score 40 in western conference finals?
The game that made harden realise the true power of fouls & free throws 😂
Almost June boys ✈️
This is how flight gonna hoop in June.
Jaimoney Family Tree sure bro
All Dirk needed was a fine long beard and he would’ve been Jesus
Dirk giving that work
I don't always love Gundy's comments, but he was on spot near 17:00 min mark where he identified Harden as a star and specifically mentioned his defense needing improvement. It is cool how right he was even years ago before Harden became the star on the Rockets.
Gundy is brilliant you just need to know not to take all of his comments literally when he talks about changing something etc he's usually just making a point and being colorful, one of the most insightful no BS people to ever commentate on the game, love how no one is safe from his critiques but they're always with a sense of humor and humbleness
I dont get tired of viewing Dirk MAVS 2011 team over and over
