Fun video. Wouldn't call all this equipment modern in today's terms. Seen some very impressive modern mill operations where you could almost eat off the floor. We started a "urban sawmill" series to give folks insights into what it is like being an urban sawmill focused on giving dead and fallen trees a second life. Always makes us happy to see any good quality videos that give people interest in the sawmill industry. We need to develop the next generation of sawyers who are environmentally savvy as we have far, far too many trees going to waste and we can actually reduce traditional logging and some of their wasteful practices.
Humans are the only creatures that cut trees to make paper and write "Save Trees" on them.

That 1st bandsaw was pretty primitive. 30 years ago I was operating a far bigger saw cutting Jarrah in Margaret River W.A. Even back then I was in a booth above the saw and had a series of buttons & switches to turn the log, adjust the size of the cut I wanted to make, return a piece for another cut etc. I grew up around mills as my late father was a saw doctor and a master at his craft. I still work with timber these days but with kids in woodwork at a high school.
Imagine the cleanup. And I thought doing stumps were bad

By no means an injustice. Wood is the benchmark for renewable resources. The most energy-efficient of building materials. Solar energy does most of the work - unlike steel or brick or concrete. A sawmill this size could support a fair-sized wood pellet operation, too.

I use too operate a CNS MarkV saw mill, that log there cutting up would pass threw a CNS in under 5 seconds and make what ever I punched into the machine . Meaning I used my eyes to know what every log could put out , 3 3x6 and 2 2x4 etc . This machine I ran could go threw over a 100,000 board feet a shift , now that's fast unlike this old junker,lol. And yes the company planted trees every year :)
