Hello, I’m Brazilian and had done the Brazilian blowout many many times, in Brazil it is called “escova progressiva” which literally translates to progressive blowout, which around 80 or 90% has formaldehyde and they smell chemicals.
In the US, there is a brand called Brazilian blowout yes, but from what I know, the Brazilian blowout here in the US is also the same name for the smoothing straightening treatment, which is the brand and treatment.
Now, keratine treatments usually don’t have formaldehyde, it is only to turn the hair a little softer and straightened, but not drastic straight like the Brazilian blowout.
Also, at least in Brazil, the treatment that you have to leave on the hair for 48 hours is almost not used anymore and it is one of the Brazilian blowout ones, not so intense and harsh (that’s why you can leave on the hair because it takes a while for the product to work on the hair) BUT the person has to go back to the salon to get it removed and then do some other step that I can’t remember.
Nowadays most blowouts don’t need to stay in your hair for two days, you get out of the chair done and ready, you can even wash it on the same day.
So that’s it in a nutshell, blowouts get extremely straight and shiny because of the chemicals (including formaldehyde) usually lasts around 3 or 4 months, the person has to use blow dryer after washing because heat activates the product that’s in the hair, and Keratin not so straight but shiny and less volume, I would even say that it’s like a very deep and good conditioning for the hair that lasts for a while.
    Hope it helps.
    :)

Oi. Esse "keratin treatment" seria o que a gente chama de "selagem térmica"?
Se não, você sabe qual é o equivalente da selagem térmica em inglês?

Very informative thank you! I was in a Beauty Supply Store the other day and really didn't know what any of this was. I saw a line of "Smoothing" Products which consisted of 3 step process. I almost bought it thinking it was interesting until I noticed that "Brazilian" step had formaldehyde. Now to me, formaldehyde was the stuff they use at the morgue so I was liiiiiiiiiiiiike. Needless to say I didn't buy the product and kept researching so thanks again!

@@janaeraquelmiller Hi! I want to do a keratin treatment on my hair, because I have hair that likes to tangle all the time. An my hair is kinky in it's natural state, but my hair is on top of my butt when stretched out. So once I take my twists out it maybe in the middle of my butt in which is butt length hair. I want to wear my hair straight, but it kinks right back up when I straighten it and it takes so long to straighten, because it is a lot of hair. I am down south, but if I was where you at I would definitely come to you. What do you recommend at home for a smoothing Keratin treatment for long kinky hair that won't damaged it?

However, I have not been able to find anyone to do it.. so I tried the Brazilian... I am going to grown my hair out again and refused to allow anyone else to do it.. My hair reached my middle back when I did my own hair.. My boyfriend even noticed a major difference when I got the Brazilian... He loved it when I got the Chi Keratin...
