Hey Adam, I'd ride that bike anytime anywhere and the friend that gave it to you is a gem. You're right the best friends don't care what you mount they just want your company. Have fun and enjoy buddy.
Many a good times ahead. Thank you for watching.
You get what you pay for...you my friend got a lot. Can’t put a price tag on good riding times with friends.
The best bike in the world is the bike you have. #ridemore
That’s what is so great about motorcycles. Doesn’t really matter whether you have 80k to buy a custom Arch or just 1k in your pocket to fix up a beater, you can have just as much fun on either! Nice video.
The smile inside your helmet is the great equalizer. Thanks for watching.
This bike is my first ever bike I’ve had and it’s so much fun for just local offroad
The best bike in the world is the bike you have.
I really appreciate the approach with this build as I am not able to stomach the high price(s) associated with new bikes. I (like many others) fit into the normal, working guy category and don't have excessive amounts of disposable income that I can dedicate to an off road bike that I may only get to use a few times per month. Thanks for posting.
The best bike in the world is the bike you got. If you can ride a few days a month and it's good for your soul... that's all that matters.
That's completely Awesome!
Thank you. Appreciate you watching.
Your starting a revolution!!
Nothing wrong with that! Thank you for watching.
What a beauty well done! All the cool people have the 53 12 suspension from Scott.
Thank you!
This is awesome! My cousin just bought a 2001 and it’s a lot like this but with a little more lipstick.
Run it till the wheels fall off!
Great video 🙏🇦🇺
Thank you! 👍 We appreciate you watching and commenting.
She is still a beauty bro, I would appreciate riding it. Awesome video bro
Appreciate that. New bikes are really nice, but old bikes can be every bit as much fun.
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE I just got me a 2002 YZ250F
Got the same bike a lot of fun to ride
They are so much fun.
My friend is selling me a 2006 yz250f 50th year special edition for $500! It has a 2001 engine that needs work, so im going to make it my project/learning how to fix my own bike😂
Learning how to work on your own bike will teach you skills that apply to so many things in life. Have fun!
Subscribed!!!
Thank you!
Doing two very similar budget builds with a 94 XR250R I was also given for free. And a 87 XR600R I got for $300. Just planning on new tires, suspension, and both need seat covers, bars, grips. And cosmetics I'm just going to clean up the plastics and run them.
Sounds like a fun couple of builds.
Had the kicker go through a pair of boots one time trying to find TDC with those stupid decompression levers. Fun bikes when they do run though!
They can be difficult bikes to start. But so much fun.
Man I can think of a thousand bikes I would restore before an 02 250 hahaha props man!
When someone is giving you a bike... you don't always get the choice. You roll with it and make the best of it. ;)
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE for sure!
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE these older steel frame Yamahas are awesome and very capable machines and are very reliable if maintained correctly. I really enjoy seeing people breathe some life back into these old bikes , why go spend 9-14k on a new bike when you can find a older one for around 1-2k do a lil work and buy a few updates possibly rebuild and have a bike that brings just as big of a smile as a new bike !!? The bike doesn’t make the rider you can have the newest best bike and still not ride for shit ....
I just acquired a 2005 yz250f got a good deal , rode it for a season and ended up busting 3 gear... so after saying fuck it ! I’m now 3/4 way through a complete engine frame rebuild, sandblasted the engine cases and frame cerakote for the engine finish blue powder coat for the frame . And honestly I like these old 4stroke kickers no efi or computer crap that I can manually fix myself and the reliability on these older Yamahas are outstanding
Sounds like you have a fun project on your hands. We appreciate that you are pulling it back from the dead.
Have an 01 which is the same bike. Never hated a bike more! Left it in storage for 18 years to punish it! Got it out the other day and put the decompression cam a carburetor kit plus a kickstand. Fired right up but a week later the same bike as before, wont start. If I can get it started I'll ride it up into the hills and burn the damn thing!!!
18 years is a long time in storage.
Sounds like you just need to do the valve clearances. I have an 02 wr250 so same motor it was a pain in the ass to start clearances the valves and now it starts first kick every time when hot without even having to use the hot start
Sweet Ride Adam!
I want one for free!
Nothing better than a free fixer upper!
Hay mate if that's a yz250f 2002 do you know if you can put higher up model kick lever on 02 as when si look everywhere they only really make them 06/2010? Know if they will work as they are the same and need to replace it but yeah I'm going being stupid gonna rebuild the hole motor and hopefully get it powder coated I wanna make the bike look brand new 😂 but done properly as I know nothing but yeah cant find any decent branded parts for 02 anywhere and look I know they old but they still rebuild able
The only kick lever we know of would be the OEM Yamaha part. Have fun with your bike.
Alright, so when are we going back to Bean?
We will have to figure that out.
What's up Old man you ready for some more Divide?
Buddy Bikes are the best builds to do.
Agreed! More smiles is worth every penny and hour of labor.
Where’d you get the stand from like waht website?
Check out Pro Moto Billet
same bike but i powered my lights off a 12v dewalt drill battery in the airbox!
Nice... those batteries are pretty handy.
I just got a new 2002 yz250f And it starts first kick
Sounds like it's in good shape. AND... you know how to start one. ;)
Where can I get the hand gaurds
Those are Cycra hand guards. upshiftonline.com/collections/motorcycle-parts/cycra
I use a drill battery for my headlight
Yes! Once upon a time... used to use a Makita 12V battery ziptied in the airbox. One of the long skinny ones from back in the day.
Dont disrespect the bike like that not everyone can afford one
Well the point was to celebrate the bike really.
ye aye
im looking for a 2001 to 05 yz250f myself my this new year for under 1800 im planning on buying a second after the first to have 2 cheap trail bikes ready to ride all season incase i blow one up lmao check my channel out alot of editing to come we are learning
We love bringing an older bike back to life.
Definitely not a piece of crap. And it’s not even close to a WR. That YZ will spank a trailbike WR all day.
It's a fun bike for sure. Thanks for watching.
True the WR have different cams I’m pretty sure and have a different sprocket ratio
its literally the same bike with a tiny bit of difference lmao
@@fierce1894 yeah ok. I’ve had both bikes. The YZ is superior in every way. Unless you like heavy and slow.
@@desert4seat we must be talking about different years. a 2001 wr250f is exactly the same as an 01 yz250f. the only difference is engine tuning, suspension, and different gear ratios designed for low end power. same frame, same engine, same everything else
