This is quite an effective way to operate. He'd need at least two 777s, and certainly more if they used ADTs like CAT 740s or Volvo A60s, depending on the haul distance. Otherwise he'd be just waiting for one to return. Fuel and other running costs of an ADT, let alone a 777 would be astronomical compared to these trucks. Even on a Volvo A25 the tyres are at least £1500 each. This is a much more flexible approach, and the ground conditions don't dictate the need for a large haul truck .If one of these trucks breaks down, it wouldn't really affect production. He would still have a constant stream of them.
Think how many of these trucks they can get for the price of one 777. They are probably self employed owner drivers anyway. All the trucks are random, certainly no fleet or contractors liveries. If they are, then there is no capital outlay for the mine or quarry.
I was on a site where they used three 10 tonne Thwaites dumpers. It was very effective. The excavator driver was never left hanging around waiting for a truck to return. If it had been a single Volvo A30, he'd have been left waiting for it's return from the tip site every cycle.

Why not use large quarry trucks and cut the fleet in half?
To save money, both in fuel and cost of purchase. Less economical using the big mine trucks hauling the longer distances needed when it comes to this mine

Is that brown coal or just dirt? It would be interesting to know more about what is going on at this operation.
They are generally using the excavators and small trucks in removing the top soil / dirt to reach down to the coal layers beneath. The coal is fed into a nearby electric power plant. This reminds of some coal/dirt mix looking at the color, and maybe it is. But generally they put one some larger machines when loading the coal itself.
Why not using ADT or HD!?
They are more expensive also in terms of fuel. The ADT are too slow than tippers, many loans tippers with their own drivers. Even in morocco there is no ADT only tippers.
In which country?
Do they Work 24h a day? In 2 of 3 shifts?
