Corsair H45 - Liquid CPU Cooler (Unboxing & Installation)

  • čas přidán 21. 08. 2024
  • SPECS:
    - 120mm fan
    - liquid is already in the closed-loop circuit
    - no manual fan rpm control (control from BIOS)
    - thermal paste is already applied onto "cold plate"
    - water pump is inside the radiator unit (not in cold plate)
    Compatibility (sockets):
    Intel LGA 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011, 2011-3
    AMD FM1, FM2, AM2, AM3, AM4
    Setup shown in this video:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700x, 3.4GHz, 8-core, AM4 socket
    MB: MSI B350 PC MATE
    OBSERVATIONS:
    To reduce the overall noise in the end I powered both the fan and the pump from constant 5V DC, cooling is fair enough (around 70°C when rendering longer videos) and the noise is very low!
    -
    At every system startup, the fan starts at max rpm, than in a few moments the speed drops if it was lowered from BIOS (I totally eliminated this noise by powering it from a constant 5V DC source)
    -
    Compared to air-coolers, the cooling is faster, temperatures severely drop in just seconds after the CPU load is eliminated
    -
    Compared to air-coolers, the heat is eliminated from inside the case (when the radiator is placed outside the case, as in this video), plus there is a lot of free space inside the PC case for easy access of components
    -
    I couldn't control the speed of the water pump from BIOS (yes, the water pump will also make some noise, not just the fan!)
    -
    I mounted the radiator unit horizontally on top of my opened PC case because it barely fit inside my case, plus there were no suitable screw holes on the case, and the hot air would have left harder through the case's grill in the vertical position, and the supplied screws were not entering into the radiator unit (different size holes & threads)

    Nice hardware inside that very dated case. Consider upgrading for about $60 on a newer case such as the Corsair 200R Silent Edition. Most cases/chassis these days use minimum 120mm fans which breath much better than the 80mm/92mm designs and with much less noise. With that said, the rear or width of the case will accept the radiators. Also, Antec has a case "One" for about $55.

      I don't really know, but as I noticed the main difference is that a liquid cooler takes away heat much faster compared to an air cooler. The size of this heatsink is much smaller compared to my previous air cooler, and that's not good, heat can't be removed fast enough because of this.

    • @furulevi
      @furulevi  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes the heatsink of this water cooler is smaller than my previous air cooler. The advantage is that it cools faster and it's not dissipating the hot air inside the case but outside the case. I personally use the fan at only 5V DC and not variable 12V from the motherboard, and it is acceptable, it is not really overeating. Get a water cooler that has 2 fans, those have larger heatsinks.

      How about blowing it using compressed air? People like that, but from the point of view of static electricity in my opinion it has the same effect.

      @@furulevi actually the vacuum causes static electricity in the tip of the hose. I have touched vacuum ends before and they have static electricity. also, the powerful vacuum can pull in the motherboard components

    Do not buy this cooler. The pump on mine got very loud and very unefficient

    • @furulevi
      @furulevi  Před 5 lety +3

      Air cooling is definitely safer, it needs no water pump, thus the pump won't make any noise, plus it won't fail "pumping" either. The bad part of air-cooling is the large size, plus the heat somewhat remains inside the case.
