For research for my novels, I reached out to submariners to find out the kinds of watches a sub officer might wear. One of the ones mentioned was the Neptune, which I included in the story. I later had a chance to buy one for myself and I love it. The biggest issue for me is not being used to automatic watches. I've always worn a Tag, but I don't mind learning new tricks. Highly recommended.
Great review, Honest, direct and unbiased. I love the brand having a few models, so it’s great seeing a review. I will say this as a NAVY guy they work flawless when in the pool training or open water dives.Get On the Mailing list!!!
Been trying like crazy to get one of the new K2’s since their first release, but I’m literally on the other side of the planet. Every time they’re released, it’s at hours I’m not even awake for, and I am never able to get one.
I love their commitment to quality and their mission, but I am not a fan of the "drop" business model. After following their social media for a bit it seems like they're more interested in getting watches out to influencers and people in the industry, as a civilian I'm not too beat up over vets getting models before normal customers, but sort of frustrating. I'd rather save more and get a Garmin Tactix for a tactical watch with more functionality at anytime instead of the hassle of waiting for a scheduled drop and being frustrated that I didn't get one.
I agree the BGW9 doesnt last that great but it does look awesome. I have a brushed Atlas. Maybe they will do X1 C3 superluminova in the future. Nice job on the review buddy
Great review! Thanks for taking the time to review these two beautiful and bad ass watches... I was glad to find at least one review of the Neptune since I just scored a DLC one in yesterday's drop. How are you liking your Neptune a year later? I would guess that you love it even more now that you had time to wear it, but I'm curious. That's been the case with the Dark Merlin I got a while back. Between being veteran run and owned, their focus on strength, being a tool type watch you can wear without worries, and the impressive quality and components, I feel like these must be some of the best watches you can buy at the price point, and beyond...
I noticed the dial on the atlas doesn't have markers for the minutes/seconds. Does this affect how you read the time on the watch? Or are people able to read the time accurately even with the lack of minute/second markings on the dial?
They’re not comparable watches… maybe Hamilton khakis or certain marathon field/tool watches. Sinn are mass produced and marketed, German made, multi-modeled and overpriced compared to Sangin.
@@bc6806 overpriced wasn’t the best word to use there… not in a similar price point. I’m not knocking sinn, and shouldn’t have made a correlation or comparison based on this video to your comment. There are so many micro brands these days that are around or under 1k that it’s tough to keep up.
i got one of the first batches and iirc it was 5-600. sold out literally like 4 minutes after it went live. I sold the thing on ebay this year for 900. had no idea it would go that high and theres one up now from canada for 1200. thanks to the hypebeast "drop" culture.
@@cloneorder6641 movements for most are Seiko movements - Japanese. The small pieces (case, sapphire, etc) are sourced from who knows where (even luxury Swiss brands get quite a few of these parts from China, otherwise you are likely buying a watch that costs as much as a car). Sangin assembles every timepiece by hand in California and tests them individually for accuracy and water resistance. You can't get away from Chinese parts in almost any watch, but Sangin does better than most, especially at their price point.
Comparing it to a brand like Glycine or Squale it's possible to get entry level Swiss made watches with quality movements such as the many ETA 2824 clones out there at a similar price, with many decades of provenance to those brands and with better movements than the NE15/6R15. Moving slightly upmarket there's additionally Marathon, Zodiac, Yema, etc. The elephant in the room to me is lacking any indication of where the watches are actually made (not just assembled but where components other than the movement are made) if made in USA according to either FTC or Buy American Act guidelines, it might change my mind. This is entirely conjecture and should be taken with a grain of salt but the hands seem a bit small for the dials - unfortunately usually an indication of Chinese manufacture, in my experience with microbrands. Respectfully, I can't see what makes a Sangin worth as much as they are outside of hype and operator culture jingoism.
... what? In what way is wearing a tool watch in high risk environments suspect? Those going into harms way, from SOF to astronauts, have a long history of wearing mechanical watches.
Finally someone reviewed Sangin🤘
Chris Long thanks dude I’ve waited for others but none popped up. So I said F it I’ll try and do one. Hope it was decent.
I hope they pump their production. It's always sold out! Thanks alot for the review

Thanks for the review! Great looking watches.

Nice. I’ll have to pick one up someday.

Love Sangin!! I have a problem, I get all of them lol!!
Got a nice one!
I have a professional and Merlin on the way! Great watches and quality and company has great mission
Wish they had a 38mm version

thats a good point which I would assume would important for synchronized missions
I use (rotate) the bezel on my atlas when setting time.
What are your thoughts on that compass?
Is the Atlas the brushed or Matte version?
Brushed and bead blasted.
Solid Video Brah..
BigBlueMSP Thanks brother
How are you able to get so many of these watches. I have been on the waiting list forever? Please help.
This is Garand Thumb's watch, I think...
Atlas
Where did you get that green strap with the black ega? It's dope!
ZuluAlpha straps.
How much do these cost? There is no info on the website because it's all out of stock.
Hi, neptunes price at that time?
Πλούσιοι επτώχευσαν και επείνασαν check their website I think 600 something
Where’d you get that strap on the atlas in the thumbnail?
Roger Bishop they’re from zulu alpha strap co. NUBS saves you a bit brother
this may be a noob question but what are the clicks for?
The click lets you know the bezel is working properly.
Try a Sinn U series for a good tool watch.

Curious of what the MSRP of the Atlas is

Hey sir, how long does the lume last on the Atlas? Can you still see it hours later in the night?
Yo Nubs I just got my zulualpha strap. How do I change out the leather strap on my Kinetic 2?
5/5 nubs up. need me a sangin
Where are they made? China???
Hand crafted in California.

Sangin is a micro brand.
Having a mechanical watch in any high risk/zero downtime requirement situation is suspect. That said I hate G-Shock watches.
DW 5600 BB1 (square black one) is cheap and actually wearable. I also hate G-Shock watches but square ones are interesting.

@@3chel0n13 It's kind of a moot point. Computers and other devices all have synchronized timekeeping anyway.
I’ll buy any off of you if you looking to sell any of them
