You and me both
I agree, a very helpful video. At 68 I am an old new art student. I am slowly understanding layering and your video was another "A ha" moment. Understanding the whole process helps me be patient and to take my time. Thank you.

Wow, something new 2me😮
Bravo🎉❤this!
Perfectly timed for me to see a year later, when I'm ready and eager to get started with my new full set of Faber Castel Albrecht Durer Watercolor pencils 120 that will arrive on this coming Monday. I also want to try the techniques shown using my original Derwent Inktense 72 pencils. A dream of mine is to be able to get the new 28 Inktense colors introduced in by Derwent in 2023!
Loved this! so many helpful tips for a beginner! I too am an elder (73) just beginning to explore art. I have tried many mediums but keep coming back to the colored water pencils. Thank you so much.
OMG. I'm a Newbie to watercolor pencils and I just swatched out 72 new watercolor pencils and I was doing the exact opposite of what your video suggested. From wrong paper, wrong technique, everything was wrong...I wish I had found your video first before struggling for almost 6 freaking hours 🥴🙄 THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this! This was so very helpful and gave thorough instructions on what & what NOT to do for us Newbies 🙏😊❤
Great video, thank you so much for making it. I just want to add one thing for anyone who is new to watercolor pencils. You can blend dark to light, but it has to be done in a different way than going light to dark (which is what's shown in the video). It works well if you use small strokes side to side and wash off the brush frequently. While this method does make it easier to accidentally bring pigment too far down into the light area, I've found that it also gives you more control over not letting darker pigment bleed into already-wet light areas (which is a common issue that is even present in the video example).
Wonderful video. This is my first time using water colour pencils and the technique you have is just amazing and very skilful. Hopefully I am
able to get the most of my new Fabriano water colours. Love your video!

I absolutely love that video you made at that time. Definitely helped me understand the basics of how to layer and paint with watercolors (well w/pencils anyway 😊). And I did praise you for it when my work wasn’t coming out the way I want to and was watching it while I was painting. Now this video is in my playlists. So glad you decided to give a more in-depth tutorial to your steps this time around. ❤🤟🏾😎🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤

Clear and concise tutorial for beginners and for refreshing basic skills! 🎨
My first how to video on watercolor pencils and it was very helpful! I learned a great deal.
Thank you! This was super helpful and I'm now excited about trying out the watercolor pencils I recently bought.
I guess I need to learn how to draw first. Thank you for showing all the techniques!
Excellent tutorial.....thank you ! I bought these pencils for my grand daughter and wanted to know how to use them to show her.......crafty grandma !!
Hullo Alice!! I am 46 and just starting to get into different types of Drawing Techniques. Your videos are so simple to understand and follow. Thank you so much for the time you take to reach out to all artists and share your talents!

This video was very helpful. I few years ago, I went to a watercolor pencil workshop, but it didn't cover as much as you did in your video. It left me feeling unsure of myself so I didn't pursue it any further. Your video, though, has inspired me to continue on.
Such a well produced and very educational video. Thank you for sharing your creative process and providing a valuable learning opportunity for many artists. Wishing you a truly wonderful day ahead.
Excellent work, and I’m buying watercolor pencils, now! So fun to learn something new!
Thank you!!!!❤
Thanks for teaching techniques and then using them . Appreciate your wisdom 😊
This is an excellent, easy to understand presentation. Thank you very much for simplifying the challenge of a new medium.
New to watercolor pencils. This was very helpful. I just ordered some WC pencils and am excited, and a little more prepared to use them. Grateful, from Oregon!
I have used the Koh-I-Noor brand of watercolor pencils. I thought when I was younger that they were the only brand that made them! I still have a very good collection of them. I have since invested in the Albrecht Durer pencils when doing more fine art that was intended for sale! Wonderful examples Alice you created a new wonderful video!
CHEESE!
Thank you. I enjoyed your informative video on how to use watercolor pencils. I am looking forward to trying it out soon.
You are a great teacher! Thank you for sharing your knowledge
I remember the original How-to video from 2018! 💐I was still in high school at that time and I appreciate your updated take on the tutorial. I'm also fond of an older tutorial on how to make textures with watercolors, including the plastic wrap and sponge method. Have you discovered new ways to make watercolor texture over the last few years? It would be great to see how you use other materials to make textures now.

I have learnt more in this video than I have learnt in over a year of trying to use water coloured pencils. Thank you! I am now subscribed to your channel. ❤🇨🇦

❤❤❤THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL!!
Thank you for sharing this how-to video. I want to try water coloring on my embroidery projects.
Thanks, Alice! I've been looking at a lot of videos about brand recommendations and how to use watercolor pencils and this one is the BEST I've seen. And you packed in so much info in such a short video. Great job!

Thanks this was informative. I just picked some up this week and now I'll know how to use them
Great video, loved it!
Thank you for explaining the details so well!
You have a new subscriber Alice. Thanks for sharing and demonstrating so clearly and concisely all the highlights of your message and presentation. Exceptionally well done with just the right emphasis on each aspect of the subject to get started. I'm excited and looking forward to getting really comfortable with all of my water friendly pencils. Namely Albrecht Durer and Inktense. Thanks again!
Ok. Wow. Although I currently have a migraine, I dragged my butt to my table with the watercolor pencils. I did your technique blending from the light to dark instead of the opposite. You are so right and it looks so good!! I’ve been tempted to pitch the darn things with frustration and disappointment because I wanted to love them. Now I do. Thank you.
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Thanks 🙏🏻 I have a box of watercolour pencils but haven’t had much success so far. Will be trying the technique you have shown! 😊
Im not new to water color pencils, but i learned new things about them with this. Thanks!!
Thank you! Very helpful.
Thank you so much for this video I wasn’t aware that we can do layer on layer with water color art and the tip about hard line and not working on a leaf that’s right next the other was beautiful
Thank you for making this easy to understand video. I have watercolor pencils but didn’t really know how to use them.
Just beginning with watercolour pencils and found this video very helpful. Thank you. xo

Excellent instructions! Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much. That's awesome.
Gorgeous!😄
Very helpful and enlightening tips! Thank you!!
Very helpful tutorial. Thank you!
I have some of the pencils. I put off doing any painting since surgeries. I just tried wetting the watercolor pencil and can get darker colors that way. I think they are pretty and create a smooth look and softer.
Thank you so much! Fantastic video!
Wow ❤ thanks for sharing very helpful
very helpful. Thank you!
Up to this point I've only been using watercolor pencils for super fine details in my watercolor pieces (such as small twigs on trees, individual hairs or eyelashes, etc.) but after watching this I think I'm going to try a whole WC pencil piece. Thank you!! 🙏☺️
I never thought to combine the two. Now I feel foolish lol. But this was worth watching just for your comment….thx
CHEESE!
Very helpful! Thank you for a very informative video!
Thanks so much you make it so accessible x

Explained very simply. Thank you so much. 😊x
So cool thank you. Is there anyway to be closer up to the paper so we can see up close what it’s doing?
Thanks for doing this. I learned a lot
That was really helpful :) Thank you
So excited to get my watercolour pencils out.
Great video. It was super helpful. Thank you.
Haven’t used watercolor pencils in a while, might play around with them today with these techniques
F funny, I was playing with my arteza woodless w/colour pencils last night!
I’ve had mine for years and I’ve never actually looked up how to use them 😅 thank you!
Very nice, helpful video. Thank you!
Thank you for this detailed help
Oh no your not the only one doing it wrong ! Lol. Im so happy i came across this video!!!❤
Thank you very much for these extremely helpful tips 🙏
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very helpful video!!!
I like your simple way of explaining please don’t change your style it’s easy to follow and clear instructions from one Tutor to another. Thank you
I still have my Bryunzeel watercolor pencils I got from my uncle at my hospital bed when I was 12. Never took to the watercoloring side of it, I simply hadn’t thought about them being watercolor pencils and their benefits. Recently I’ve rediscovered them and your video has given me some enthusiasm to use them like this. I am a very light colorist due to my muscle illness and don’t find them very pigmented but maybe I need to layer more so I’ll try that. If I still don’t like them at least I now know which pencils are worth buying. Your succulent is gorgeous btw
What a clever uncle giving you a wonderful present to keep your mind off hospital but you won't make a mess. ❤
Excellent tips. Thank you
Oh y goodness!!!!! This video is amazing! Thank you, so much, for sharing. Subscribing!!!
Very well explained excellent
Thank you for your simple explanation
Thanks for just getting to it without wasting too much time on self promotional chat at the start like some folks do.
Great video, it made me want to use my watercolor pencils. Greetings from Colombia
Very nice tutorial
Watercolour is the bane of my existence but I need to learn it for my art class so this was really helpful for me ! ! !
Like it! Question: if blending is the most challenging part, would using a stiffer brush help with that? Thank you!
So helpful thank you 🙏🏽
Brilliant tutorial thanks ❤ new subscribers 👍🏻
Thank you very informative!
Beautiful
This is a great tutorial 🫒🐦🫒🍇 Thank you. 😊 I have a much better idea now how to work with them.
THANK YOU!!!!
That was very helpful, thank you!
Bought a set of 120 watercolour pencils without knowing that this is how they are supposed to be used. So i was just colouring in the normal way like any pencils! Though i did wonder why they weren't blending very well! 😂
This is the best video🙌🏻💥
Great tutorial!
Thank you for this video!
Thankyou. Good tips.😊😊😊
EXCELLANT ❤
Great tips…thank you so!
Nice!
Great. Thanks.
Nice ❤
Thats is kool.thank u
Thank you so much!
I've seen people suggesting the wet on dry method of dipping your pencils. When I tried it, I was like "Oh this is so pretty.... for a few strokes, and then it goes back to being a pencil." I came to this video hoping to find out what I was doing wrong, and it apparently was that whole method!
