Us South Africans liked him a lot !! Our type of rugby player . . . . NICE (respect)
He has given a lot. He was not only heavy, but also strong, fast, accurate, and technical.
What's amazing to me is, outside everything else, how consistently he would take 3-4 op players out the game with missed tackles or just an attempt to stop him every time he ran.
That sort of space creation for the creative flair of French Backs was so effective.
The more I watch of him the more I’m convinced he was the most complete player ever
All his tackles were perfect, arms wrapped, duty of care putting men on the ground. One clsss act
Not like Owen Farrell, brutal but regular
That's what I was noticing too. I just don't understand. Not only is it just as easy to use good technique, it's 100 times more effective. It's very very hard for someone to keep moving if you wrap them and hit them at the waist or lower. Having said that, in these days of fast, smart offloads that's not always the main goal.
1:19 class act huh?
He was a beast.
commentator - will he have a charge, remember he has a sore shoulder...... Chabal- hold my beer, gets ball, drops shoulder, rams through............ what a unit
Chabal was fucking immense ❤
One of the few players that actually terrified the alblacks
didnt terrify jerry collins
4:29 How dare he ??.... damn !!
Quelle chance d'avoir pu voir ce joueur en équipe de France
He looks like the cover of every romance novel.
hhhuuuuummmmmmmm chabal !
strong but respectfull, amazing player but before he is a great man
I saw a list recently of the most overated players by position and Chabal was in it which tells me that they haven't watched much tape on this guy.
I'm french and Chabal is a legend here. He was a really awesome tackler, but his "beast" style is why he is famous, he wasn't that great with the ball, and was giving the dumbest penalty you've ever seen in a pitch. Is really overaterd because of videos like this. He was a great player but not that great.
@@monsieursarcasme7064 He made every match he was in worth watching, big hits, exceptional runner, aggression and bat shit crazy.
I can understand why he's listed as such: he's mostly iconic for his 2007 World Cup even tho he was a substitute most of the tournament. He was a good player but he was a lot more famous for his beast look/style of play/attitude rather than for what he acually did during the games
The hakas were definitely getting quieter around Chabal... 😁
What a mutant. I'd tune in just to watch this guy. Destruction personified
The Caveman
waouuuuu!!!!!
0:15 la qualité est très mauvaise mais je l'avais jamais vu celui-là, quelle puissance !
I remember the all blacks game vividly. France would have shipped another 30 points were it not for him single handedly tracking the black runners
juggernaut
Perfect tackle technique, who says you can’t have a good player tackling technically correct!
He was good but Henry Tuilagi wouldn’t say he’s very fearful
Tuilagi better runner, but Chabal tackle was inmaculate
@@andresjaque8344Agreed! Chabal was a complete player. He had power, good hands, intelligence, great technique. The only thing he lacked was great pace. 👍
north of 4% neanderthal dna
😂The Beast of the 1980s and 90s
1993 at 16 years old
@@tryagain7536 Lol thanks.
50% Gorilla, 50% TGV
he's a absolute badass, but he never attacked above the shoulders...
Can you just remind me how many World Cups Chabal has won or for that matter France?
LOL. Most feared ? Jonah Lomu, Brian (The chiropractor) Lima, Bakkies Botha, Eben Eztebeth, Jerry Collins, Martin Johnson, to name but a few, have very strong claims to this title. These players also have longer and more prominent international careers than Chabal.
Johnson feared ? You forgot to mention Scott Quinell he put the fear of God into the English forwards especially Martin overrated Johnson!
@pauledwards7340 Martin Johnson is much less overated than Chabal. Opinions will obviously vary, but Johnson did play a pivotal role in the 1997 Lions Tour series win in South Africa.
If you look at the footage that showcase the supposed fearsome Chabal, you will see a. his try against Namibia, a tier 2 nation, and b. a few hits he put in against the AB's.
What they will not show is the hits the AB's put on him, in that same series.
But I digress, we can add Scott Quinell to the list of more feared players than Chabal.
@@SShendrik Martin Johnson 😂😂😂. Great player no doubt. But not a single person feared him
@sabretooth5404 neither did anyone fear chabal. French hype, nothing more. Look at the footage "proving" his hard man image. It would mainly consist of 2 clips : the one game against NZ and his try against Nambia. Lol.
@@SShendrik show me where I said anyone feared Chabal? Tbh I don't even think he was that great a player, Harinordoquy was twice the player Chabal was
But to claim anyone feared Martin Johnson is absolutely ridiculous. More ridiculous than claiming anyone feared Chabal
Jerry Collins smoked him
Collins never had a great technique tackle as Chabal, he was a lot of time high, like against Nathan Sharp in 2003 semifinal
@@andresjaque8344 You don't know. People that have actually run at him are contrary to your opinion. He was the player fellow players regarded as the player they would least like to run at. It was a poll, so.......
Contempomi also smoked this ghost
