I had a lesson with Ed after seeing him on here with Johnny and told him I could hit targets but didn’t know how I was doing it so that’s the same with misses by the end of the lesson he had me hitting a 60 + yard crosser and that day shot pigeons on laid barley hit birds that I would normally miss .. cheers Ed

the things I have learned from watching Jonny's videos!!! I wasted a lot of money shooting with no instruction and a gun that did not fit. In my area of the US, coaches as well as shooting schools are hard to find especially good ones. I struggled for a long time with off the shelf and mail order guns that I never got to shoulder much less shoot before I bought them. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for teaching me about gun fit, rebalancing and shooting techniques. Not to mention you passion for shotguns in general!

This short video has SO MUCH to take away...It definitely needs watching at least twice. He really does drop a lot of information on technique in a short time...
Yes, I'd have loved it to be a half-hour long or more...but there's just so much wisdom and experience talking here. If I can nail down just a few of his pointers here, I'm positive my game will improve a lot. Just goes to show you what a lesson with a real pro can be worth.
Does Mr. Solomons allow his private lessons to be recorded/ taped/ filmed ? Because I'm absolutely certain in a half-hour you'd miss or forget 80% of what he's told/shown you by the time you got home.

I bought my first new O&U shotgun, an ATA Supersport last November. My licence finally came through and I had my first day out with it today. First day shooting clays seriously and first time shooting the gun. I shot 3 rounds of 25 bird DTL. I scored a 49, 63 and a 40. I couldn’t have been happier with that for a start. Over the last 7 months I have binged these videos. They have given me a great head start. Thank you very much. John.

Another class video from the Proofhouse Team. and Ed Solomons. Unlike 'some' channels they are not just selling what they have in stock but actually putting informative, educational content that is a joy to watch.
Soooo much information within the video. After doing my first sporting clays last weekend, I so wished this video was out before. Certainly lots of details which I’m going to take with me next time.
Also amazing camera angles which helped better understand kill points, hold and sight.

Interesting I shot last week the first time for 30 years , gun I’ve never used before, only hit 40 % but I enjoyed every hit. Can’t wait to try again a bit more relaxed next time.
Great video as always. I know this was a “hit the high points” of preparing to hit targets, but I hope you plan to do more specific videos with Ed. I would like to hear Ed’s instructions on making the connection with the target. In this one he mentions either in front or behind the target. But does it matter? Is it different from target to target or shooting method to shooting method? And how close of a connection is need to prevent a panic move to correct the lead?
I like Ed's analogy about are you going to take on GD, or like me practice on clays for the purposes of Pigeon and Game shooting.

Helped by the fact that he has a cameraman with him that shows the clays and in slow motion you can track the gun movement to the clay. I watch loads of the Oxford videos and find them really useful but so many times you can't see either the gun movement in relation to the target or the clays at all. That really would make a difference.
What is the difference between the Browning 525 and the Browning Citori Sporter? Do they use the same action?

The patina on the fore end of Edd's gun is the main difference in his and my skill levels, my 2nd hand gun looks far too pristine. 🤣
ed you said 3/8 3/8 is fine , but for esp would it not be prudent to shoot one choke tighter than the other , so the near clay gets the open choke and the further clay gets the tighter choke , esp two clays very seldom the same distance ?

This has been bugging me for some time, if you see more rib (high comb with your head in the correct position) do you need to shoot below the target? Thank you chaps

What advice would you give to a new shooter when they get a zero on a stand. These videos are really useful but even though you try to follow it, what can you try when it’s just not working. I’ve been shooting about 8 times, I’m averaging 40/100, but as soon as a get a crossing shot like in this video, I almost know I’m not going to hit it.
The site pictures will come with experience. Try to work out is target rising or falling in break zone and allow for this. If its mostly crossers causing problems try increasing lead. Average 25yard crossers will need a meter of lead and you will need to hang with the target longer don't just snap shoot. An most important when you miss change the site picture give it more give it less but change something. There's a lot more to it than that but if no-one is with you to help give it a Try
@@gavinshiels7899 cheers chap, will take that on onboard. Just frustrating when you don’t hit one no matter what you try. Haven’t worked out how people can tell if their shots are behind, in front etc etc. Also, I think when people describe “lead” as you mention I struggle to picture that when I’m shooting. Hopefully when I have my license I can shoot more often and build some experience.
@@simonburch8762 if your struggling to see the lead try matching the speed of the target and pull away slowly. Too much gun speed will be confusing and inconsistent. Being so new to shooting type in shotkam in CZcams it will give you some idea of leads and methods ie swing through, pull away, and maintained. All have there uses and remember on crossers if the shot feels rushed your hold point is to close to the trap and the bird is beatings you. There is way to much to explain without seeing you shoot but lots of videos on CZcams might help you
Something that may help with fundamental crossing targets would be to using the skeet field and run station practice. In other words don't shoot a standard round of skeet. Work the middle few stations starting with the lesser angles of 2,6. Then work 3,5. And finally 4. A decent skeet coach can help to get you moving the gun and the controlled environment of the skeet field should help you in learning to see the targets. It should also be a cost savings over a round of sporting. Hope this helps.

Kindly discuss this point, where should a shooter be looking at the targer in reference to the gun barrel before and while pressing trigger. Should he be looking at the target to the side of the gun or on top of the gun barrel. Will be waiting anxiously for your kind reply. Thanks and regards

When I was in my early teens, a VERY long time ago, my uncle, our state's trap shooting champion, taught me to shoot trap. I was a quick learner and the governor even came to watch me break clays. As I grew, I shot less well and knew that I was having trouble with my gun handling. The reality is that the majority (my opinion) of off-the-rack guns fit most men poorly or very poorly. Their stocks are too straight and the stances taken by their users are obviously contorted as a result. I would urge every shooter to set up a large pattern board at 35-40 yds. or so, mark the center and shoot at it. There will be lots of surprises. Obviously, every hunter should do the same thing with each gun the owner plans to shoot. I found myself seeking out old guns are country auctions and came away with two Parker Bros. from 1898 and 1908, among others, with much more drop at comb and heel. Once again, the guns were shooting where I was looking while using a comfortable stance and the clay targets were shattering into puffs of dust. A light weight game gun from Greener (1901) has the most drop of my guns and is a joy in the field. One day, some skeet shooters (all using very expensive O/U's) asked to try it. There followed offers to buy the gun!!
