  • Schöffel Country UK Sales Manager Paul Tomson headed down to Grimsthorpe Estate Shooting Ground in Lincolnshire to meet up with clay and game coach Ed Solomons to sharpen up on his technique, ready for the coming season.
    Paul first started clay shooting at Grimsthorpe about 10 years ago. More recently he’s joined a local syndicate and shoots 3-4 driven game days per year.
    To identify the areas where Paul can improve, he shoots a few targets that are indicative of the type of bird he would usually face, so Ed can see him in action and get the gun moving.

    I believe that I Ed is the most honest, straight forward instructors in the world of the UK. Ed and Ben Has' are leaders in their class if available for teaching. Both of them are the two to go to.
    I'm so happy that another person has mentioned 'one eye'...

    Had the pleasure of loading for this chap a few times over the last couple of seasons down in Exmoor and can confirm not only is he one of the nicest shots I’ve seen but also a very down to earth chap- a pleasure to be around!

    This covered a lot of what we worked on when I had the opportunity to get a lesson from Ed back in December. Great reinforcement of what was learned that day. Also enjoyed seeing a fellow southpaw. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Great content as always from Ed Solomons. It does like a Proofhouse production 😃 Which is a good thing!

    Excellent video as I've always struggled with driven clays. Noted the 1eye syndrome which affects me also but have learned a lot from this. Many thanks.

    You can only dream of Hull made ammo in US. Quality of shotguns products are amazing in England , guns also much cheaper ,America light years behind .

    On a side note (question), is it common to have the barrel option on over rather than under (top barrel first) when shooting high birds?

    Hi there. I have what could/must be a very stupid question. But when you shoot high pheasants or above head-level clays such as here, don't you risk receiving pellets back on your head? And if so, is that not dangerous?

    • @K80Ed
      @K80Ed Před 2 lety +1

      This is why you always wear eye protection. No energy to the pellets but enough to damage an unprotected eye.

    Just finished a sim day and this video was brought up. A well known Yorkshire game shooter and youtuber was laughing. He said they were pheasant shooting abroad and he sent his videographer to film the gentleman teaching actually shoot a peg and when they returned there was nothing to edit as nothing was killed. Moral of the story don’t believe CZcams.

    Watched the youth coaching here shoot on Exmoor, easily the worst shot on the line. Tony Hartman of West Country Guns was schooling him, certainly not one to be taking lessons from.
