This is genius, surprised it’s not a populate method of mining. The contraption being powered by gravity is the most efficient way to mine. And the sheer amount of ore and blocks…

Fun fact. Deployers can use pickaxes. And enchantments WILL work on them. Supplied with enough rotational power they can instamine most blocks in the game
I tried it just now. Not very effective and very slow against other blocks like dirt, gravel etc. Drills are ultimate
@@darkModeYT put a drill in front of the deployer to mine the dirt-y blocks

@@darkModeYT it's faster and you get silk touch/fortune on your ores. It might be better using a gantry-setup for that tho, the grav-miner is still the best with drills

Me with my friend have been digging a 2 by 2 chunk quarry for almost a week. You did it in a couple of minutes. 0_0
I was wondering the other day if something like this was possible glad to see it works so well
For this quarry you need 32 stacks of andesite blocks and iron nuggets (if you use the mixer), 8 stacks of iron ingots and 8+chests stacks of log
This is extremely cool, going fo xo this now, cant wait to exhaust the andesite reserves in a 5k block radius for the drills

Now, here's an idea! Remember the Tunnel Bore from the "RailCraft" or "TrainCraft" mods? What if you were to build one of those to Help build your Railway Lines and maybe place down your "Ballast Blocks" or the Blocks you use to place the Rails on as they dig and place Rails? Meanwhile, they simply Collect any Blocks that they've bored out and stop either because they've run out of Fuel, They've used up all the Ballast Blocks and/or Track Pieces or they've filled up the Space with the Blocks they've Bored out.
Also, I've found the Semi-Trailer used by the Dodge 2½-ton GMC CCKW-353 "Deuce and a Half" and Studebaker 2½-ton US6 U6 Semi-Tractor Trailer Versions. It's called a 7-ton Trailer, Panel Cargo. Sorry if I don't have the Specs on hand right now but I'll try to write down the Specs for the Following Cargo Trucks and Trailers.
• Dodge 2 ½-ton CCKW-353 "Deuce and a Half"
• Studebaker 2 ½-ton US6 "Studer" Trucks (U4 6×6 Long Wheelbase with winch, U8 6×4 Long Wheelbase with winch, and U6 Short Wheelbase Semi-Tractor Trailer Versions)
• Dodge WC-51 ¾-ton 4×4 Truck
• Dodge WC-62 and WC-63 1 ½-ton 6×6 Trucks (The 63 has a Winch whereas the 62 Doesn't)
• 7-ton Semi-Trailer, Panel Cargo
• 1-ton, 2-Wheeled "Ben Hur" Trailer
Quick not about the Cargo Trailers is that the "Ben Hur" was predominantly towed by the Jeep Willys MB and the Dodge WC series trucks but could be towed by the "Deuce and a Half" whereas the 7-ton Semi-Trailer was used by the Semi-Tractor Trailer Versions of the "Deuce and a Half" and the "Studer".

You can fill up each of the chest slots with single item you need. This way chest wont accept coblestone or any other useless block.
However, I had this contraption and was doing great until silverfish started to change the direction or even sometimes stop the quarry by moving minecart. In this method rail under the minecart is destroyed as soon as you pull the lever, So if something moves the minecart even you, the contraption will stop working and you have to reset it the same way you started it. Sometimes silverfish will move the minecart and then the contraption will also move 2-3 block in any of the four directions.
So, if you just wanna dig down this will work and there is a chance you will have to reset it midway.
And if you wanna make some shape while digging, you dont wanna rely on this.

I only knew the good old Buildcraft Quarry's which also mine a whole chunk but WAY WAY WAY slower than this.
For mining ores and specific blocks, the (very very overpowered) Digital Miner from Mekanism is still the best.
But this thing... this thing eats mountains. STONE FOR YEARS! That will probably be very useful to our people on the server who have chosen Feline as their Origin (we are playing with the Origins Mod) since they cant mine stone that efficiently :D

It’s not enough. This quarry is so fast it starts skipping blocks. That’s where second layer comes in handy

Pretty fucking cool. But still would go with the rope pulley quarry just for the looks
An even better version is to have the minecart stay on the surface with a windmill attached via a pulley block to the drills, so the drills can still drop on their own. TangoTek did it on the Create server he and a few other Hermitcraft folks are messing around on. You don't have to worry about jumping down after your drill when it's done, having it destroyed/moved by mobs, water, or lava!
Rope pulley is quite slower. That’s why I thought about this one

I know this is a few months old now, but I wanted to ask, how do you deal with underground water pockets with this? like, since this is basically just a falling entity. won't it hit the water and just float there? (if the water is deep enough)

I build a branch with the minecart. It has 3x3 drills and under them 5x5 deployers. Doing this you will fill the water/lava and them will safely drill 3x3 hole to fall in.

I tried this design for a tunnel bore using eureka mod with create and it work perfectly as effective and cheap in survival. In create 0.5.0i you only need 1 layer of drill for automatic boring machine but in the 0.5.1 version. You will need at least 4 layer of drill which is also cheap compare to what you earn from this. But anyway 0.5.1 seems to be smoother than 0.5.0 but the animation of piston quite suck
You only need to DROP the drill on the your boat. Do not place the drill directly to the boat or else it wont work
So it seems u only need 1 layer of drill for 0.5.1 but make sure you line it up perfectly inside a wall :)
How do you glue 2 layes of drills together? When I try it says "blocks must be conected"
You need to have some blocks to the side of them to connect them. 0:03
Hello! I have some questions about this build. Does it matter where on the platform I add the chests? I plan on making a smaller version of this quarry, with only a 5x5 platform. Can I just add a singular double chest and a singular funnel to expel cobblestone? Thank you! Have a great day!

i think the drills (just like pludges and harvesters) working on contraptions without any powering is way to OP. At least make it that some kind of motion is needed with a maximum amount a furnace minecart can power. make the drills use some SU. you can just attach a million drills to a hand crank and it will work. that seems more like a bug then a feature, even if it is one.

It works of course. Rotation comes from the motion of the contraption

I haven’t met this issue. Just to be sure remove all other mods except Create and check if issue persists. If not then there is some other mod that is messing with the glue
Whenever I try and attach the second layer of drills, the super glue says that blocks must be connected? Is there a quick fix for this?

Yes, this is faster. But it leaves you with problems that are more challenging than simply waiting for a pulley.
Liquids can make retrieving your miner difficult at best and dangerous at worst.
Once you release this, there's no stopping it. Anything could go wrong. bye bye amethyst geode. Did you want to see what was in that ancient city chest? too bad it's all despawned while you had to wait for your miner to stop.
Based on my testing you have enough time to collect all dropped items. Liquids can easily be overcome by placing an array of deployers around the minecart.

2 layers because 1 layer can miss blocks at high speeds.
To counter lava you can build a branch from main thing for the minecart

You can build an extension with array of deployers which will build down all lava sources and protect the minecart
Why throw out the cobblestone? It could be used to make more iron when turned to gravel
Because count how many cobblestone you would mine in a chunk. You would need triple the number of chests. And you can make a cobblestone generator in case you ever need the many cobblestone

portable storage interfaces will link up with other ones if theres a one block gap between them and this lets you automatically move items off of contraptions without having to worry about stopping it and moving the items, its so convenient and very necessary for large scale automation

How does it deal with lava in the way?
For that you will have to build separate branch of your contraption with the minecart nd have deployers to fill the blocks. I will show it in future
It would be similar to a different miner video that places blocks to fill the holes and stuff I think with a little bit of polishing this could be an amazing miner. Mining machines that move horizontally can run farther and get more blocks overall, but this is more efficient for a large amount of ore. If you don't mind big holes in the landscape. But the horizontal ones can run over cobwebs and stuff which breaks them immediately. As far as I can tell the only improvement would be making some lava and water proofing.
