That backpack frame mounting system is genius. Last week I thought I'd finally pushed my Jetta's engine to its limits when it developed a knock that got progressively worse over the day. I was sure it was rod knock or even piston slap, till I pulled the serpentine belt and it went away. Turns out mounting the alternator between two downpipes inches off the turbos gets an alternator hot enough to crack things up inside. Junkyard alternator and a temporary aluminum heat shield around the alternator and I'm able to terrorize the roads of Edmonton once again. I've never even heard of a knocking alternator like this.

Our initial reaction always seems to be the worst case scenario.

Something I haven't thought about much but would prevent many problems is using locktight! Good video Scott!

It is good you caught that early so as not to ruin $ parts. I did not know how to remove the back; THNAKS! I may remove mine to get the grubby harness off. GOOD WINTER PROJECT TO WASH IT IN TIDE. Do you know why I wash it in tide? Too damn cold to wash out tide!

@@TheGreasyShopRag Credit to Benny Hill, or his writers. My favorite Benny Hill jest, in a heavy Cockney accent: : "So, I said to me wife with the wooden leg, Peg, I said, Come see this one eyed cat be a' coming our in through our dooe." So she adjusted her prop and turned about to see just whait I be talk'n about, "Ya bloom'n bloke; kitty's not coming in through th' door, she be going out!!"

Great tips about using a light to find flaws in the translucent impeller plastic. Also great tips about checking the impeller and crank play after installation. Thanks! 👍

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel shoved down in front of his pants. Bartender asks, “what’s with the steering wheel?”. Pirate replies, “arrgh…it drives me nuts!!”

Hey, Scott! So far I’ve always been impressed with Husqvarna’s except for this one detail. I’ve found more than once that lack of threadlocker has caused critical fasteners to back out. Whether this is an engineering deficit I don’t know (threadlocker versus torque numbers), but I suspect even more that it’s factory assemblers not torquing correctly by actually using a torque wrench. I think this may be somewhat confirmed by the fact that one screw actually was still holding.

Trying to go through all your videos. Another great one Scott. Do you pressure test the fuel lines on everything such as saw, weed eaters, back pack blowers. Thank you
