Wildwoods Construction Update - Late April 2024

- It’s been over a month since our last Wildwoods Construction Update video.
The last one, filmed in March, showcased a ton of great new projects happening all over the island. You can check out that video to compare to this one by clicking the link below.

For this video, we will start in North Wildwood and make our way through Wildwood Crest to finish at the new Madison Resorts.
With Memorial Day Weekend just a month away, many of these projects are moving at full steam to be completed in time.
The North Wildwood's Gateway Entrance and Gold Star Memorial have seen a ton of work completed since our last video. Crews were out there today pouring concrete for the memorial itself while other crews were laying piping for sewer and water.
This part of the project should be completed by May of this year with phase II being later on in the fall.
The dredging project in North Wildwood’s 5th Street boat ramp has been completed and the geo-bags removed. Where has all the sand gone? 10,000 cubic feet of it has called Wildwood’s old dump home.
The City of Wildwood is working on capping their dump, which hasn’t been used fully in decades. Currently, it sits at 15 feet high. The city hopes to add 2 feet of sand on top to cap it off bringing it to 17 feet.
This project has been talked about for years but now we are able to see much progress.
The Point Tiki Bar and The Honky Tonk Saloon, which sit across from each other, have been making much progress. Both places look to be about 70% done and just had their signed installed.
Down the street, the Binns and Bonito Motel are continuing with their transformation into The Vibes Motel. This motel offers a ton of Doo-Wop architecture designs including a blast-off roof.
Mudhen’s expansion is moving along as crews finish up the exterior of the building and move inside.
These are just some of the projects taking place in the Wildwoods.

I was there a few weeks ago on a Sunday and the girls were doing a great job painting the side of the boardwalk when was whipping everywhere paint was all over them but they still did a fantastic job

I remember going down to my grandmother's house in Wildwood. Do you remember lattermiers bakery on baker Avenue. On Robert's Ave on the board walk right behind Mack's pizza we would go to the trampolines
Any updates on the old Ocean Holiday Motel? My family used to stay there when I was a kid. I heard they were building a ICONA Resort there.

Yes. Love the construction. I know its asking for a lot but while the irons hot with barefoot country music fest a Starbucks on the boardwalk and a nice new ride would be awesome. I just went to disney and a new dark ride roller coaster would be epic to have in wildwood.
Wish they would make the huge roller coaster they had planned several years ago. It went from one pier to another! Also, a "train" or ATV towing a trailer would be nice to take people who paid from pier to pier.
@@mikewillett5076 yes or a gondola or chairlift like seaside has. But they already have the tramcar but I still miss the chairlift on adventure peir
@@mikewillett5076 what huge rollercoaster. It's also kinda wild that they replaced the entirety of the great nor Easter. I'd rather them keep that bucket of bolts and build a new roller coaster 🎢
@@user-yq1yh9rt8f . I'll ride almost any roller coaster but the chair lift is one of the ones that scare me the most. You're not really secure in your seat, and one cable is the only thing holding every seat up. As for the train cars, it costs every time you ride it no matter how short, and it's often filled to the max.
@@user-yq1yh9rt8f . There were sketches done about 12(?) years ago for a new coaster that went from one of the ride piers to another. The sketches are on the Internet. Would've been cool if they did build it!
Thank you for your videos. I love seeing them it brings me back to great memories of my summers I was a life guard in Wildwood crest for two summers also I worked at the Penalty box on Pacific Avenue.

haha yes! We finally made our way back to the dump. Its going to be a few years until something big goes there but its moving in the right direction!
Hey, what happened to the Singapore ? Did the Madison Resorts swallow it ?
I wonder what took the memorial so long to start construction, since they've had that coming soon sign on the lot ever since they tore down the old Texaco station like 15 years ago (I believe)
I believe it was grant money. It wouldn’t be able to do this without having it cost a dollar for a local taxpayer.

Both the Vibes and the Madison are looking fine. I see Dan Bradley and his bikes are open too!! Should I ask if Icona's Ocean Holiday reconstruction has even started, or will those of us who stay at the Bristol will be looking at Year 4 (or is it 5) of a Bridge Too Far?

@WildwoodVideoArchive That is unbelievable...does it have to do with the WWC council review? The Bristol owners and staff are so tired of this eyesore...loyalists like us don't care but it hurts them with new guests. And the adjacent Armada owners must be nervous as only a few feet separate them from the gutted building and if there is a collapse or fire their building may be damaged.
Are the Morey's adding anything new this year? I don't remember seeing any announcements
Their big project this year was refurbishing the giant wheel
@WildwoodVideoArchive A nice project, but they really need to add a new thrill ride. Ocean City is investing a lot into a new Dark Ride Coaster and I wish Morey's responded in kind
