Great idea for a shower.... Had the same concept except taking a shower Hula-Hoop putting in around the shower hanging it from above and draping it into the bucket and your shower standing in their love your idea

I remember when you were living in a car and I just remember how unglamorous it was but you were functioning well. I am still in awe how you upgraded to a more spacious van but you literally have the bare minimum of decorations and literally have plastic bins and a bed. I applaud you. Is there a reason that you haven't installed solar/done electric work or put more "homey" things?
I lived in my Van for 7 years , went to California 5 times , I would get a paint job to work and save a lot of money, ready to build another van

Oh dude, learning how to shower after I started living in my truck was a journey and a half lol.
I would drive 30 minutes into the woods and hike a good ways into the trees; so inconvenient.
Luckily my work has a shower that I use now! Your set up is so streamlined. I love it!!
So practical! Honestly your approach to vanlife is so down to earth and simple. Your solutions for everything are so accessible and easy to accomplish which is what I love most about how you and your logistical approach to living in vehicles and traveling!
I noticed my baby’s washcloths dry much faster than regular adult ones, if you’re ever looking for fast drying rags.
And here I was thinking I need a super clean organized build-out with a Japanese tub combo to try this van life thing....
That would be a very fancy van if it had a small Japanese soaking tub in it. lol

During one of my first US Army overseas tour (or deployment), we were informed about mandatory "combat showers". What is a combat shower? Essentially, what you just did, Ma'am. The whole reason about it was lack of water and the refill time to accommodate everyone on our remote area.
Thank you for sharing this insight. I honestly was gonna go for tarpaulin and that pump bottle mechanism method. I like the hard plastic tote bin/box concept for easy clean and don't need to worry about folding up the tarpaulin after use. It kind of reminds me of my humble beginnings back in the Philippines.

Sick? Van life people don't get sick. Sick is a product of comfort. You know hot showers, constant indoor temperature etc... Sick is also a product of society. This girl is free, and that's the first step to health.

I was homeless in a park and had to take those efforts to wash and stuff being sick with huge fever was not easy ! but the trick was that I was 19 and not nearly 30 like now haha, so I think that's how I managed

It's not free. You still have limitations and cost.
It's not free. It's not easy. And it's not beautiful all the time. I KNOW all that....and I've never been a full time van dweller, but I have spent extended stays in them. The MAJORITY of those doing so LACK the economics to do conventional living. And being broke, forced to live the lifestyle, is hardly beautiful.

I think it's safer to wash up or shower in your van, and if you get a chance to go somewhere to take a shower I think it's a good idea, especially for myself. I really like your ideas.

When I car camp, i put a shower curtain at the passenger side of the door *parking our car when there is noone around* 😁 Then we shower right there. It feels so good. We get hot water for the winter as well.

If you live anywhere near a beach, shower there. Much easier than what you have to do. I've lathered up many times at the beach. You can also get a $10 Planet Fitness membership and shower there each day.

And also ALL SMART people that don’t like bathing in harsh chemicals that are absorbed through your skin - the largest organ of the body! Chemicals absorbed repeatedly over a lifetime = cancer/breakdown of immune system/Alzheimer’s and dementia in old age! Really! Easy enough to ditch other stuff and buy Dr. Bronner’s now if you’re not one to mix up natural concoctions on your own!

I lived in a van my answer is get some truck stop membership cards the more fuel you buy with them the more points you get which means you get showers for 6.oo and free showers with built up points.

I love your efficient shower and hair washing demonstration!!! If you take less than 4-5 hours to prepare, shower, shave, hair wash, clip toenails, fingernails and then everything afterward like condition your hair, lotion, makeup and any hair preparation..... you're doing better than I am. It's an all afternoon event when I shower because it's generally once a week at the gym. lol I maintain during the week with wipes and no-rinse foam soap.

There’s a 5 gallon shower thing that’s 120 volts and u can use an adapter and a thermometer to heat up the water and it has a pump so the water comes out automsticslly. Try that?
Thermometer doesnt heat anything, it only reads temperature

Fantastic. So basically same as a regular shower except for the pump and hot water. Clean up exists for regular showers as well even if some people only do it once a week.
Have you considered adding mount points to your van so you can secure things. Seeing so many lose objects makes me fear for you if you ever have to make a sudden stop.

I do this sometimes, i enjoy the freedom of the open road and it will be months before i come back home.
You could get a rechargable shower head from Amazon ( that's where I bought mine from). It's s drop in for five gallon buckets and gives you a nice low pressure shower. With five gallons you can take a three to five minute shower. It works great
That looks like waaaaaaay too much work. I been van dwelling for a decade. I would just go to a public restroom and take a “Mexican” shower. Or fill up a jug with warm water and go outside and take a “Brazilian” shower. Or just go to the gym and take an “American “ shower. Or just go to a bath house and take a “European” shower. Or just go to a water park and take an “ extreme” shower.
You clearly didn’t hear what she said, she said in situations where she’s in the middle of no where and it’s below 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside she will use the method to shower in her van

Why don’t u get a second large bin stack it under the storage bin and when u want to shower you can take out the bin and have all your storage untouched
