0:39 If you look up to the left of the screen when the cars leave, you can see an Amtrak emd F40PH locomotive pulling Amfleet coaches, Amtrak was created in 1971 and the F40PH wasn't delivered to the railroad until 1975... just a neet detail for a movie set in 1958-1960
Speaking of trains, the movie should have used Santa Fe or Southern Pacific diesel engines. Back then they were F7s and E8s. Grease should have used trains in the film.
Well things like that can't be helped when it comes to filming movies set in a specific time.

no, the original The fast and the furious came out in 1954
I imagine of the 2 cars, Hell’s Chariot would be the easier to restore than Grease Lightning. Cause the Mercury simply suffered water logging where the Ford has a ripped up side, a possibly bent chassis and all the holes for bolting the parts together are probably spread open from the jump.
True fact the girl who played Cha Cha suffered from an ectopic pregnancy during filming. After taping the drag race scene, she had emergency surgery that very night

Just wait until you see real life car racing. Those cars are six or seven figures each depending on the racing series, and they crash all the time. It's just the unfortunate reality of racing.
Yeah but it is a whole different story if they bet on something. Not only racing for fame, they also race for money. Some even bet on the pink slips

GOD HELP YOU, BABY!” Ms. Murdock:”Haul ass, kid! Put him in his place!” as Danny’s buddies quickly show him the penny for good luck, just before he and Leo take off. And he does indeed come through and put Leo in his place, by turning the tables on him, and making him eat dust after all and he(Danny) is the winner instead.
Good thing Leo decides not to have that typical “This isn’t over by a long shot!” attitude and instead simply admits defeat, as someone else had said. Unlike typical other “baddies”, once they’ve been “bested” in some way or another.

the white car ( Greased lightning) is a 1948 Ford De Luxe Convertible and the black car ( Hell's chariot) is a 1949 Mercury custom coupe.

Questions about the making of the drag race scene
1:29 how they managed to stay in the lead if one car puts on the breaks and do a 180⁰ further than the other car?
1:48 how were they able to get on camera both cars driving up the slope from that shot with the camera car on the slope?
2:02 how were they both able to avoid that gap in the slope by driving in the same lane?
Where was Sandy watching from her vantage point and did Danny know she was there towards the end of that scene?
Danny slowed down and gradually turned, Leo took a crazy turn, over revved. they were damn good at cinematography. different shots, edits.
