- Baby seal having a snooze on a rock on the beach, gets splashed and wakes up.
Atlantic Grey Seals - Halichoerus grypus
Since 2017 a seal colony has started using a beach close to where I live.
I'm doing my best to get the seals more protection and permanent signs asking people to not go close, especially during pupping season and moulting season.
Every year more baby seals are born and numbers of seals hauled out are growing.

They special coats that keep them warm even in freezing waters.
@Mike-os3pt they can keep their heat well while swimming and living in arctic places but i think he still can feel the initial temperature difference and get startled by that for a second

That’s a good spot despite being so close to the water. The pup can lean against the rock and even if he is hit by the water, won’t be swept out to sea because of the rock.
