  • Jedi Master Yoda is on a secret mission to forge a treaty with the King of the strategic system of Toydaria when his ship is ambushed by Count Dooku. Yoda and three Clone troopers must face off against Count Dooku's dreaded assassin Ventress and her massive droid army to prove the Jedi are strong enough to protect the king and his people from the forces of the war.

Yoda while a powerful warrior, was first and foremost a teacher and scholar. His fighting style was meant to compensate for his short size but also because he didn't really enjoy fighting others and preferred to just get this over with as quickly as possible. After watching Original Trilogy and lifting that ship I imagined him to be somebody who doesn't even need to use a lightsaber to beat his enemies, he was long past that. Still, it's useful to have a weapon which can cut through everything.

To hide from Vader? Who had just been EASILY defeated by Kenobi? Yeah that makes sense. And what an "AMAZING" teacher he was too lol. Literally every student he ever taught was murdered in his charge right under his tiny green nose by fucking stormtroopers that were ALSO under his charge, which...fuck me, lets not overlook THAT incompetence. The little idiot is controlling an ENTIRE CLONE ARMY created by their greatest enemy, and at NO POINT during the Clone Wars does he even CONSIDER flipping the Stormtrooper Instruction manual.
"Said here, I noticed, 'behavioral modification biochip' implanted in the clones brains by a sith lord, they were...Worry about this, should we? Naaaaahhhh! Let it fucking RIDE, we will! Mrrrm yeees. Herh heh! A GOOD feeling about this, I have."

"...right...but anyway, on page 6 of the EULA, there's mention of an 'Order 66' that looks a bit concerning..."

The little green asshole is wearing mithril plot armor as well, and that can't be understated. It never even OCCURS to the evilist motherfuckers in the universe to maybe STAB him after he's distracted by falling debris instead of sprinting off like a weekly cartoon villain cursing their "defeat". And nobody even questions that shit.
"OH NO! He stopped the rock I threw at him using the SAME vaguely defined powers that I have! I couldn't have possibly anticipated THIS! QUICKLY NOW, he's COMPLETELY DISTRACTED, within stabbing range and VULNERABLE TO ATTACK! Time to...*looks at the crayon written script*...run...apparently..."

Yoda is just chill. From Dooku it's just restraint from getting in his ship and flying all the way there to fight him. You can see it and even slightly hear it in his voice that he really wants to kill him with force lightning and then cut his corpse into tiny pieces but can't because he would get his ass handed to him on a silver platter in a moment he would move if he was there.

To me this is the thing we've lost in media for the most part, that is being SHOWN how badass and powerful someone is, rather than being beat over the head and told over and over. We know yoda is a badass and is mythical in terms of power, we don't need to be told, we just need to be shown because that's so much more impactful than being told. He actually wouldn't have at all in the first place. Alot of people seem to think Yoda is just trolling an apprentice by not drawing his lightsaber. However a master swordsman never draws his sword against an unworthy opponent. By drawing your sword you're showing your opponent that they are worthy of your skill. This is why many Samurai learn the martial arts as well. So they disarm unworthy opponents without needing to draw their blade. They may draw it partly but only to jab their opponent in the gut with the hilt. They never fully draw their sword against an unworthy opponent. The best example of this is Zuko in Avatar the Last Airbender. In Zuko Alone he fights lowly Earth Kingdom soldiers not worth his time with pure hand to hand combat. It was only when Gow stepped into battle did he draw his dual swords because he knew that being an Earth Kingdom officer Gow would be a tough opponent.

I love the sound design when Ventress swings her lightsabers at the king, and they’re brought to a dead halt by Yoda.
In attack of the clones and revenge of the sith, we saw Yoda foregoing his cane when he knew the situation was dire (duels with Dooku and Palpatine). Not doing so here just shows he feels not at all threatened by Ventress, shown to us by his next actions of easily disarming her through the Force (which we very rarely see in Star Wars), RETURNING her sabers to prove a point, and then offering to accept her surrender.
Another comment below made a good point that Yoda really is best portrayed as the wise old teacher who’s understanding of the Force is so deep, he doesn’t need to use a lightsaber for “aggressive negotiations” (similar to the concept behind the character design of the Emperor in episode VI). I love those duels with Dooku and Palpatine, but I may just love this moment more.
